Farewell For Now Eastport

It was a beautiful downeast early winter morning! The bed felt so comfortable, but the good feeling after a workout can only come by doing a workout. I read my Bible, prayed, and then started my day. I did mostly the same workout as yesterday, but I did a loop around custom street and finished on the tracks and then up to The Motel East. The wind was strong out of the north, but the horizon was clear and bright. I came across a good number of deer and a man walking his dog on the end of the Deep Cove Road. Here are the stats, 9.63 miles in 2:27:02 for a 15:16 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 88 bpm with an elevation gain of 664 feet with an average cadence of 129 spm at 25 degrees. Life seemed perfect and still for today. Thank you Lord for this place that still feels like home.

Monday(Hope), Tuesday(Eastport)

I started the weekend with a Covid test which was negative. On Sunday I headed to my parents in Hope. I made it there after a pitstop in Gardiner to exchange Christmas gifts. On Monday I did the Howe Hill loop. I had a surprisingly good workout. I did 9.07 miles in 2:18:35 for a 15:16 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 112 bpm with an elevation gain of 732 feet with an average cadence of 129 spm at 24 degrees on a beautiful Maine morning. This morning(Tuesday) I did 9.42 miles in 2:23:38 for a 15:14 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 98 bpm with an elevation gain of 522 feet with a cadence of 129 spm at 25 degrees on a cloudy downeast morning. I was so pleased to see my son-in-law Antonio at his work site. He’s such a hard worker with incredible ambition. God bless him!

Snowy Conclusion

I woke up worrying a bit about my fighting off a cold. I lingered in bed, finally deciding to venture onto the roads. Even though my pace was moderate I realized that I was fine. I am glad that I have not needed to press the pace. The roads were covered with a coat of snow. The snow seems as if a Christmas gift. I decided on doing the figure 8 loop, but changed it doing the Randall road rather than traversing to the Woodlot loop. The distance is almost identical. I did 9.26 miles in 2:25:23 for a 15:42 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 127 bpm with an elevation gain of 197 feet with a cadence of 130 spm at 31 degrees. Thank you Lord for your blessings.

Christmas Week

I’m trying to live in grateful, despite the unknowns and problems of the day. This time of year can easily become dulled by allowing the everyday issues of the day to crowd out the optimism of our eternity with Christ. The birth of Christ is a glorious occasion and brought hope to this dark world. The promise of hope is sealed by the blood of Jesus Christ. I pray that many people will accept this gift this Christmas season. A gift must be accepted to come to fruition. The promises of God only come through Christ.

On the workout side of things I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.11 miles in 2:18:32 for a 15:12 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 102 bpm with an elevation gain of 261 feet with an average cadence of 131 spm at 27 degrees. Today I tried to soak in the sites, sounds, and smells of the season. God bless you!

Thankfully I had decent workouts this week. One week and one day until Christmas. Grateful for Jesus!

A Change

I did the Ridge Loop this morning. I headed out on the late side of usual time. This was the morning where there were a lot of little things that didn’t go quite right, but the big picture worked out okay. My watch paused for no reason for a little over a mile. I did 9.2 miles in around 2:18:00 for approximately a 14:50 minute per mile pace at approximately with approximately 272 foot elevation gain and approximately 113 bpm heart rate with an average cadence of 134 spm at 52 degrees. Nice quiet morning. God is good!

Countdown

One week from today we start our Christmas break. This morning I was a bit slow getting out, thankfully I was faster getting around. I did the local figure eight plus. I saw 3 falling stars yesterday morning and 1 this morning. This morning’s you could see the tail of the comet as it slowly disintegrated in the low skies. I always try to be a bit more tuned into things this Christmas time of the year. God bless you!

Good For a Monday

A Little Irritated

Somehow redoing my password on my phone for the Nike app erased my data for the month. So for today’s workout, I have some scant data. Today I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.13 miles in 2:18:42 for a 15:11 per mile pace. I am blessed in that even though I am slow I can get the work in and make it to work on time. God bless you!

Tuesday, December 7, 2021

Slow , But Staying Positive

I did 9.11 miles i approximately 2:20 for approval a 15:18 minute per mile pace. I hit the stop rather than the restart button. Hopefully I am more with it tomorrow Made it to work on time. Have a blessed day!

Wet and Tired

I have been tired and slow. I need a little bit of a boost. Today I did 3 x The Woodlot Loop. My watch stopped a few times— so some stats other than the distance total is an estimate. I did 9.06 miles in a little of 2:20 for a 15:30 ish minute per mile pace. A lot going on. My daughter Ericka is staying with us and my three granddaughters. It’s a blessing. God bless you!

So Slow, but still a go!

I was ahead of schedule, getting around much earlier. I just could not overcome inertia. I finished slightly earlier, but I took so long getting my workout clothes off. I did the Medford/Randall loop because I’m kind of tired of seeing the guy walking the dog when I finish up . I did 9.24 miles in 2:22:15 for a 15:23 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 169 bpm with a cadence of 132 spm with an elevation gain of 444 feet. Blessed day!

Disguised Blessing

Today I started slightly ahead, fell a bit behind, but made it on time. I did 3 x Woodlot Loop. On the second lap, my running app kept pausing— finally closing. Fortunately, I restarted the app up so I could record the entire distance. First day of December.

Sleepy Head

For some reason my alarm didn’t go off. I did have time to take a few sips of coffee and read my Bible. I was only a couple of minutes behind going to work despite being way behind schedule. I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop doing 9.18 in 2:18:35 for a 15:06 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 88 bpm with an elevation gain of 207 feet with a cadence of 133 spm at 30 degrees. I’m very blessed! Have a great day!

Monday Back in Ridge

My watch quit several times so there is some estimating, but the distance is fairly consistent. I did 9.1 miles in under 2:15 for an average pace at approximately 14:20 per mile at a temp of 37 degrees. Sometimes I don’t know why my watch quits. It was a good workout though. The hills in Maine and the day off yesterday seemed to provide me with strength. A good travel day to work. Thank you Lord for your many blessings!

Sure of the exact stats ad my app paused before I did my jogging. It was a beautiful morning— just tired. Praying for Kim and her tooth problem. Thank you Lord.

Questions

I seem to have a lot of questions going through my head. I have a lot of emotion about certain things, and it’s hard to contain it. Seems as though I have some issues that I’m no happy with even though I’ve tried to work through accepting my “losses”. I’m not good at hiding things. On another note— today I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.11 miles in 2:17:54 for a 15:08 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 164 bpm with an elevation gain of 342 feet with an average cadence of 130 spm at 53 degrees. Friday Whispers

I quietly headed out the door on this final day of banishment from my Char. Tomorrow she arrives back from the DR. I did my figure eight loop again. November

A lot happened in the month of October and now a new month is upon us. I believe God is at work and is about to reveal Himself to me in a different way. Just a feeling that I have. Today Char is heading up the mission’s team in the DR. I am alone for the week. When Char is gone I see things from a slightly different perspective. In a relationship you can be so focused on the day to day that you lose perspective. I feel like I am gaining a little perspective. Now I need the Lord’s wisdom to deal with my “new” perspective.

I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randall Loop doing 9.07 miles in 2:15:37 for a 14:57 with an elevation gain of 250 feet with a 171 bpm heart rate at 55 degrees.

Missing Char, but will allow God to work !

Almost

This was a morning of mishaps and determination. Something I ate really was effecting me. At about .4 I realized that a pitstop would be necessary. I did 9.15 in 2:16:39 for a 14:55 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 258 feet with an average heart rate of 159 bpm. Tired! Have a blessed day!

The Figure 8

It was another windy and rainy morning. I kind of like these type of days. Even though I was running a little behind and am tired, the conditions buoyed my spirits. I love the dark of the fall. I am estimating a bit as once again, my watch shut off for a little over a mile. I did nine miles in around 2:17 at a 14:49 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 132 bpm with an elevation gain of 603 feet at 54 degrees and some decent humidity. Looking forward to a strong venti black eye plus another espresso shot(3) , caramel swirl, and vanilla sweet foam. Cheating a bit on my fast. God bless you!

A New Start

I had a little trouble falling asleep, but addressed the issue early enough to get adequate sleep. When there is a rift between my wife and I life isn’t fun. I feel the rift, but to try to deal with it would end up in a blaming session. I will try slowly to work back into understand. This morning I did the Longwood loop doing 9.15 miles in 2:19:09 for a 15:12 minute per mile pace. I had an average heart rate of 156 bpm with an elevation gain of 297 feet at at 51 degrees and 68 percent humidity. Looking to the Lord. God bless you!

I went through the motions without much thought. Thinking about what I have in front of me has been depressing, so I just am focusing on the task at hand. I did 9.07 miles in 2:16:40 for a 15:03 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 153 bpm with an elevation gain of 181 feet at 60 degrees and 81 percent humidity. Weird Things

Weird things happen to my watch on this figure eight loop. Coming up Woodlot something has happened to my watch. My watch cuts out and switches settings. What I’m putting is some estimates. I did roughly 9 miles at a 14:25 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 98 bpm with an elevation gain of 141 feet at 98 percent humidity. My blue tooth also kept going in and out. I think I’m going to try not to even glance at the time next workout on this route. God bless you my friends!

Change in Venue

Today I decided to sleep in a little later and go for a hike rather than do my conventional workout. Char was awake earlier than usual. I decided to stay in bed until she fell back asleep. I then made Char’s tee and put the cat outside. Next, I headed to Calverton. I did 9.5 miles in 3:00:57 for a 19:02 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 69 bpm with an elevation gain of 206 feet at 64 breezy degrees and 86 percent humidity. They were doing some heavy duty construction near the park parking lot. I also noticed a bunch of cars in the field near Grummond Road. Back to school tomorrow! God bless you!

Tired But Optimistic

I woke up and was very sleepy. I had a few sips of coffee and then read my Bible. Soon I was dressed and out the door doing the Longwood Loop. Running Low

Last night I could not sleep. I think the Pumpkin Latte that I had kind of tipped the balance. My stomach was churning and so was my mind. Like usual I just lay in bed and prayed until eventually I fell asleep. I woke up at my usual time and managed to get a workout in. I am blessed with the ability to operate on empty even at an increasing age of 57. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.18 in 2:16:56 for a 14:55 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 83 bpm with an elevation gain of 297 feet at 55 degrees and 78 percent humidity. Rain and Lightning on Friday

I doubled up my short sleeve shirts because it was raining. I was hoping that there would be some gaps in the rain— and there were. I was thinking— next Friday Jace will be out of the house— somehow that seemed like an encouraging thought. I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randle, and two times Ryan route doing 9.05 miles in 2:16:17 for a 15:03 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 162 bpm with an elevation gain of 202 feet at 64 degrees and 100 percent humidity. Closing the Gap

My workouts have been following a similar trend. Starting slow and then the pace builds as some easy jogging pickups. Thursday tends to be slightly slower as I have been mowing my lawn on Wednesdays. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.09 in 2:18:03 for a 15:10 minute per mile pace with an average heart of 162 bpm with an elevation gain of 321 feet at 71 degrees and 91 percent humidity. The streets were quiet this morning. I enjoyed a good chat with my brother this morning. Thank you Lord for your many blessings.

Good Finish on Ollie’s Second Birthday

Black listed

The morning has been a continuation of last night. When my wife doesn’t like my reaction regarding her son she gives me the passive cold shoulder. I wasn’t happy last night after a very long day to find my stepson parked where I asked him not to park and I found a metal cabinet stuffed in the shed— just another piece of junk in the way. This morning I noticed a less than friendly demeanor towards me. I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.27 miles in 2:19:04 for a 15:00 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 151 bpm with an elevation gain of 194 feet at 71 degrees and 97 percent humidity. I felt decent this morning. Have a blessed day!

Wedding Bells

Today is my second day back doing mostly regular gym class. Students need to wear a mask and distance, but can do most of the old games. Also, my daughter Kim and Antonio are getting married today in Patchogue.  I’m so grateful for God’s mercies. I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randall, 2 x Ryan plus out and back on Raynor not quite as far as in the summer. It’s also my FIRST workout with my new iPhone watch. I did 9.07 miles in 2:13:51 for a 14:45 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 165 bpm with an elevation gain of 145 feet at 64 degrees and 92 percent humidity. Going to the 180 Center Lord willing tomorrow. Have a blessed weekend!

Last Drive on Route 56

I headed out this morning after a terrible night’s sleep. I just couldn’t get comfortable. As has been my habit, I prayed for my family and others. The funny thing is that I woke up at my usual time. I actually headed out at about the same time as yesterday— a few minutes earlier in fact. I did the Ridge route again. I did 9.54 miles in 2:21:34 for a 14:50 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 162 bpm with an elevation gain of 191 feet at 67 degrees and 96 percent humidity. I am grateful for good health this year. I have finally gotten on a medication regimen that has my blood pressure and cholesterol under control in a good way. I also have had a sick free year during the pandemic— praise God. Looking forward for what the Lord has in store! God bless you!

Ridge Loop Again

I haven’t done the Ridge Loop very often, but today I just felt like a change. This has been a year where I feel like I’m never on a schedule. I am blessed and thankful to get my workouts in, but this is more of a mental feeling. I guess with having Jace, Amber, Whalen, and the dog here you never are alone. Furthermore, our guests treat me with silent contempt(Whalen and the dog like me). I did 9.51 miles in 2:22:00 for a 14:55 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 114 bpm with an elevation gain of 177 feet at 59 degrees and 91 percent humidity. Two more days at 56 years old Lord willing. Have a blessed day!

It’s the odd year with Rosh Hoshana and Labor Day being back to back. Looking to you Lord in this trying time!

Today there was a positive feeling of faith mixed in with all the questions. Have a blessed day!

After the Storm

I woke up not knowing if it would be possible to workout since we were under a flash flood watch. Fortunately, it was only windy and cool. My morning routine went fairly smoothly. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.23 miles in 2:20:46 for a 15:15 minute per mile pace and heart rate of 106 bpm with an elevation gain of 318 feet at 62 degrees and 90 percent humidity. More Sleep

I didn’t get the sleep that I wanted, but it was sufficient. Found out that one of the people that I talked to at the wedding tested positive for Covid although she was vaccinated. The contact wasn’t close.  Today’s workout I did the Medford/Randall Loop doing 9.20 miles in 2:20 for a 15:12 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 154 bpm with an elevation gain of 179 feet at 71 degrees and 95 percent humidity. Another Trip

This has been the summer of trips and doing stuff. I had to hustle around this morning to get my walking workout in plus my deadlifts. I had to load up my vehicle for the trip to Lancaster, Pa. as well. I did the Medford/Randall Loop doing 9.29 miles in 2:19:50 for a 15:03 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 163 bpm with an elevation gain of 150 bpm at 75 degrees and 93 percent humidity. Have a blessed weekend!

A Go

Today I got out of bed and got this workout in. It was not a struggle and things went smoothly. These are small, but significant blessings. Just having another family in the house complicates things, but then sacrifices are a part of life. I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop doing 9.20 in 2:20:25 for a 15:15 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 93 bpm with an elevation gain of 302 feet at 73 degrees and 92 percent humidity. Back at RCA again— God is good!

I did 9.43 miles in 2:22:18 for a 15:05 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 164 bpm with an elevation gain of 180 feet at 70 degrees and 92 percent humidity. Today was hot. Thankfully I finished early at school. I took advantage by mowing the lawn. It really tuckered me out. I’m grateful for strength. Thank you Lord!

Saying Goodbye to Summer

I got out in good season again this morning. This summer has been a summer of early wake ups. Not as early as the school year, but earlier than most summers. I did the Woodlot/Ridge/Ryan/Randall Loop at about the same pace as yesterday. I did 9.25 miles in 2:23:19 for a 15:29 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 159 bpm with an elevation gain of 153 feet at 70 degrees and 88 percent humidity. As usual, there were no people out although their was a good amount of traffic out early. I saw one runner at the very end of my workout. I may have other summer thoughts later—but I am grateful for this summer. Lots of good experiences including time in Maine with my parents. It was nice to spend time with the folks in my parents church. Have a blessed day!

Monday, August 23, 2021

Beating the Rain

I did 9.15 in 2:22:05 for a 15:31 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 155 bpm with an elevation gain of 292 feet at 73 degrees and 92 percent humidity.  I was slow today. It was a busy weekend with Saturday being a church work day in New Haven, Connecticut. Yesterday, we were all homebound with the storm passing through and church being canceled. Still no update on the first workshop day— no surprise there:). It has been a good summer.  Being towards the end if my teaching career, I have a different feel. Every year is different and unique. The pandemic has asserted it’s presence on education. I have some thoughts, but will let them pass today. God bless you all! I pray that Jesus becomes very real to you if He hasn’t already:)!

Last Friday of Summer Vacation

It has been an eventful summer. For me it was a shorter summer where we went so late almost into July. I know almost every other job doesn’t get the summers off, so I am not complaining. Many highlights— my daughters being together at Jace’s wedding— short stint at Camp Good News— lots of time in Maine with my parents— visits with Kaitland and Keon— time in our pool with Ericka’s girls— a cruise to the Bahamas and Mexico— and other little things. Today I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot loop for the first time this summer. I did 9.13 in 2:18:24 for a 15:09 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 157 bpm with an elevation gain of 167 feet at 70 degrees and 90 percent humidity. I am thankful to get the work in! God bless you all! Lord willing— going to Montauk today with Char!

Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday

Tuesday- I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randall Loop with a slight variation. I go from the top of one hill to the top and just beyond to the next hill and back—- three times instead of goong to Ryan Street and doing that twice. 9.13 miles in 2:17:04 for a 15:00 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 221 feet with an average heart rate of 90 bpm at a comfortable 65 degrees and 91 percent humidity.

I have been getting back into the groove this week. Truly I am taking it a bit easy as I head into another school year with some things on the calendar between now and then. I have been reading a good deal. I enjoy my summer readings. I am also thankful to get several projects done this summer. Praise be to Jesus!

I also attempted 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups a day and accomplish the full number 2 or three times with several lesser days. I also climbed on a climbing net 6 times at Coco Cay. Net result of the workouts is that I maintained my weight and conditioning better than other vacations. I never felt pressed for workouts. They were enjoyable. I could say more, but this shall have to suffice. God bless you my friends. Also, on Sunday I reached all three of my circles on my iPhone watch.

Lasts and Firsts

Today is my last workout here in Ridge for a little over a week. It will be Jace and Amber’s first day back as a married couple. Today will be our last day watching Waylon. He’s such a good baby. I’ve set my goal over vacation to try for a minimum of 5 workouts of 90 minutes— subject to change. Mainly get 5 workouts and 5 activity days in out of the eight days. I’ve decided not to pressure myself. Being careful is important since my weight is back up to the pre-fasting times. The key is to be open to the Lord. To grow as a couple and in the Lord. Today I did the Woodlot/Ridge/Randall Loop doing 9.37 miles in 2:16:15 for a 14:32 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 162 bpm with an elevation gain of 177 feet at a foggy 65 degrees and 89 percent humidity. This has been nearly 3 weeks of comfortable temps. God is so good. Looking forward to His guidance and protection!

Wednesday/Thursday Leavings and Comings

Wednesday- I did the Longwood Loop early doing 9.29 miles in 2:21:39 for a 15:15 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 163 with an elevation gain of 297 feet at 62 degrees and 88 percent humidity.

Thursday- In Hope, Howe Hill Loop: I did 9.21 miles in 2:14:57 for a 14:39 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 137 bpm with an elevation gain of 829 degrees at 62 degrees and 98 percent humidity.

On Wednesday, it was my last day with Kaitland and Keon. I had to have a rapid Covid test early at Port Jeff Station. It was a good workout and a nice trip with Kaitland and Keon. Time with my family is precious. I had a quick, but nice visit with my parents as well. Great food and a blessed time at prayer meeting. My workout started early and went surprisingly well. I did the same workout as I headed to Long Island exactly one week ago. Since my divorce many years ago, my life has consisted of many goodbyes. My best times are when my daughters and grandchildren spend time with me at my house. Something peaceful about knowing that they are there.

I have enjoyed being away from my stepson. Our relationship is not good . Just like my relationship with my in-laws, it has disintegrated into superficiality and disrespect. This sad state bothers me, but seems to be tolerated by the other side. My love for my wife and my relationship with Christ sustains me. It’s difficult to respect people who don’t value your own kids.

Long post on the Port Jefferson ferry from Bridgeport. God bless you my friends.

Last Week in Hope: Foggy Monday

I went out expecting comfortable conditions, but quickly found out that the humidity made for a sticky workout. I was a little slower as is usually typical of a Monday workout. I am somewhat dreading heading back to LI and being in the backdrop of the Blackmore family. At least I will be with my Charlotte and my daughters and of course my grandchildren. I did 9.13 miles in 2:21:12 for a 15:27 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 90 bpm with a 792 foot elevation gain at 63 degrees and 100 percent humidity. Have a blessed day!

Friday/Saturday in Hope

It’s unusual to spend so much time in Maine, but God must have known that this is what I needed even though I am missing my wife, daughters, and grandchildren. I did the Howe Hill loop on Friday and a two looper with some extra off course work.

Friday- 9.12 miles in 2:22:12 for a 15:35 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 140 bpm with an elevation gain of 795 feet at 57 degrees and 92 percent humidity.

Saturday- 9.47 miles in 2:23:21 for a 15:08 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 134 bpm with an elevation gain of 888 feet at 57 degrees and 87 percent humidity.

Today Sunday I am taking it off from walking with just a bit of strength work. It’s a rainy day. Next week promises to be a bit more hectic. Have a blessed day!

Comfortable in Hope

I headed out the door a few minutes earlier than usual. I was greeted by a pleasant, cool breeze out of the north with desirable dew points. I just soaked up the quiet solitude of mid-coast Maine. I did my usual route. In the mornings I see * a couple of young ladies who sometimes walk a dog * a runner running with his dog, * a young lady biking up the back side of Howe Hill, and * an unfriendly runner who is long on talent and short on pleasantries. I did the usual Howe Hill Loop doing 9.15 miles in 2:20:25 for a 15:21 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 94 bpm with an elevation gain of 801 feet at 59 degrees and 89 percent humidity. The hills may be challenging, but the solitude, peace, and beauty counterbalance the challenge. So blessed to be here in beautiful Maine.

Wednesday/Thursday/Friday

For some reason, my workouts aren’t being saved on my phone so I’m estimating on Wednesday and Thursday. I did the Longwood Loop on both days- Thursday, i did the Niewood version of the loop. Both days it was an estimated 9.3 miles. I tried getting out a few minutes earlier as at 8 things get more hectic. Monday— I did approximately 9.5 miles on the Longwood Loop at approximately a a 15:45 minute per mile pace. My watch is not giving me all the data at this time.

Tuesday- I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randall Loop doing 9.37 miles in 2:22:41 for a 15:14 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 94 bpm with an undetermined elevation gain probably at around 200 feet at 67 degrees and 90 percent humidity.

Thank you Lord!

Summer Stroll Down Ridge

This week has been about mixing up my routes a bit. Today I did the Ridge Road loop doing 9.45 miles in 2:24:54 for a 15:19 minute per mile pace and heart rate of 99 bpm with an elevation gain of 185 feet at 70 degrees and 94 percent humidity. 70 may not seem hot, but combined with the humidity and my like for cool temps it seems uncomfortable.  You have to appreciate where you are at and not hurry time along too quickly. By God’s strength that is what I am doing! Have a most blessed day!

Breezy Tuesday

I have been waking up earlier than other summers. I find that I prefer getting out earlier while it is cooler and fewer people. In my mind I still think about Eastport and that way of life being the norm. Meanwhile, I am grateful for where I am and trust the Lord’s timing. I do look forward to my trip, Lord willing, to Maine in about a week and a half. Today I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randall Loop doing 9.31 miles in 2:22:13 for a 15:17 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 120 bpm at an elevation gain of 192 feet at a temperature of 72 degrees and humidity at 79 percent. Learning to enjoy the season and the schedule ar hand. God bless!

Thursday/Friday/Monday

Did a lot of hustling around for my wife’s and my anniversary getaway— but the weather Friday and Saturday was rainy and cold. I did Thursday doing the Longwood Loop, Friday doing the Calverton Trailplus six stairs, Monday  doing Woodlot/Ridge/Randall.

Thursday- The last hot day day I did 9.27 miles in 2:21:57 for a 15:18 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 166 bpm with an elevation gain of 305 feet at 71 degrees and 95 percent humidity.

Friday: It was a damp day so I did a regular hike plus 6 times up Drew’s stairs doing 9.34 miles in 2:56:03 for an 18:51 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 71 bpm with an elevation gain of 214 bpm at 70 degrees and 96 percent humidity.

Monday: A quiet holiday July 5th day workout before a trip with Char to Fishkill, NY to pick up the hard in demand chlorine tablets. I did 9.23 miles in 2:21:32 for a 15:19 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 137 bpm with an elevation gain of 174 feet at 63 degrees and 94 percent humidity. Seems late to be hitting the summer groove and it seems somewhat more rushed than usual. The blessing has been the increased time with my granddaughters Ryleigh and Ruby.

May God bless you richly!

HOT

It was another hot start. The heat and humidity are starting early here in Ridge. The more I see, the more that I am aware of the spiritual battle that is all around us. Things that are wrong are called right and what is right is called hateful and wrong. I did the same workout as yesterday. I drink water each lap of Woodlot. I did 9.22 in 2:22:15 for a 15:25 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 89 bpm with an elevation gain of 185 feet at 75 degrees and 85 percent humidity. It’s the last day of June. Anniversary getaway in two days, Lord willing. Have a blessed day!

First Day of Vacation

I woke up around 4:30. This seems a good time for the summer. It has been extremely hot here considering it’s still June. Even though it’s early, there seemed to be a lot of work activity. The slightly later start definitely makes a difference from dead quiet to normal. I did the three times Woodlot, plus a short out and back to the speed limit sign. I did 9.15 miles in 2:20:19 for a 15:20 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 91 bpm with an elevation gain of 179 feet at 74 degrees and 81 percent humidity. A nice quiet start so far.

Sunday/Monday

Sunday I did my usual figure eight plus. I did 8.86 miles in 2:44:13 for an 18:31 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 72 bpm with an elevation gain of 183 feet at 73 degrees and 89 percent humidity. I saw a few people out and around, but overall it was quiet.

Today, my last day of school— I did the Longwood Loop plus put the trash out doing 9.32 miles in 2:19:13 for a 14:56 minute per mile pace and heart rate of 91 bpm at with an elevation gain of 320 feet at 72 degrees and 89 percent humidity. I saw the dog walker on Kastal. I headed to school late, but made it in good season because of the scarcity of traffic. Looking forward to see what the Lord has in store for the summer. God bless!

Running on Empty

I mowed last night, and then a late night picking my brother in law Jon up at LaGuardia late. I saw my friend Arlem at the Middle Island SevenEleven while getting a coffee. It was really nice chatting with him. This morning I got up 10 minutes later to mimic sleeping in. I did the Medford/Randall Loop this morning doing approximately 9.2 miles at an approximately 14:50 minute per mile pace. My watch played up a bit. Have a blessed day!

Last Thursday

This school year has been very different. So many changes, but God has been faithful. The relationships at work have really been strengthened. I am at this moment where God wants me to be. This morning I did 3 times the Woodlot loop doing 9.15 in 2:12:50 for a 14:30 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 119 bpm with an elevation gain of 169 feet at 53 comfortable degrees and 89 percent humidity. Just blessed. Picking my brother in law up tonight from the airport.  God bless.

Comparatively Fast

I got out a bit earlier than usual this morning. I got back a few minutes earlier— it seemed as if I were moving quickly, but only in comparison to a slow Monday and Tuesday. I did 9.24 miles in 2:17:10 for a 14:50 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 134 bpm with an elevation gain of 301 feet at 56 degrees and 80 percent humidity. I was one car away from an accident today on Sunrise. God bless you!

Slow, but Not Bothered

I was just enjoying the quiet of this early summer morning. I was moving, but not so fast. Fortunately, the slower pace of life at the latter stage of the pandemic allows for less rush. I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot loop doing 9.1 miles in 2:17:54 for a 15:08 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 163 bpm with an elevation gain of 133 feet at 71 degrees and 84 percent humidity. Yesterday, Inie Seguin passed away. I have nothing, but admiration and sweet memories of this special lady! She’s with Jesus now. May the world know Him!

In A Fog

This morning I seemed to be just a bit behind. This pandemic year, I’ve learned to relax a bit more when behind. I wasn’t so nice to my wife, so I apologized. Anyway. I saw a guy and his girlfriend or wife pushing their car through the intersection on Ridge/ Middle County— so I helped out. Lord, provided me with the opportunity. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.28 miles in 2:20:43 for a 15:09 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 99 bpm with an elevation gain of 323 feet at 70 degrees and 92 percent humidity. I was definitely feeling tired. One more week of school. God bless you!

Another Beauty— Looking forward to the Weekend

I have been a bit tired this week— both energy wise and muscle wise. My reps in the bench press have gone down from 4 to 3. I did the Woodlot/Ridge/Randall Route doing 9.35 miles in 2:14:22 for a 14:22 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 141 bpm. Not sure of the elevation gain. Temp was at 57 degrees and 85 percent humidity. It was an ideal weather day. So grateful for the opportunities that the Lord gives me each day! God bless!

Fall In Spring

The temp was cooler than usual, but it felt good. I did the Longwood Loop going fully on Longwood. I did 9.23 miles in 2:15:14 for a 14:39 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 166 bpm with an elevation gain of 314 feet at 51 degrees and 76 percent humidity. I was a little behind schedule, but things are going okay. Just learned that one of our teachers passed away. This has been a year of death. Looking to you Heavenly Father!

Cool Breezes

This was a promising morning. The temps were comfortable and with nice breezes. This would be a perfect morning if it could be repeated every morning. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.05 miles in 2:12:19 for a 14:37 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 151bpm and an elevation gain of 299 feet at 61 degrees and 76 percent humidity. I even made it to work on tine. Have a blessed day!

To New Hampshire

I took a personal day as Charlotte is performing a rededication of wedding vows up above Manchester, New Hampshire this weekend. I did the Woodlot Loop three times plus a short out and back. I did 9.25 miles in 2:21:05 for a 15:14 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 113 bpm with an elevation gain of 169 feet at 54 degrees and 79 percent humidity. Looking forward to spending some time in quieter surroundings on an island on a lake. God bless you all!

The Blessing of The Mundane

Today I headed out the door at my normal time doing my normal routine. There is a blessing in doing the everyday. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.07 miles in 2:15:02 for a 14:53 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 139 bpm with an elevation gain of 277 feet at 71 degrees and 76 percent humidity. I’m grateful for being able to do the everyday. God bless you!

Saturday/Sunday Monday/Tuesday

When you travel, you never are sure of the opportunities that you will get— so I went on walks on the weekend and fortunately had a couple of nice walks in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Each day was fairly warm, even on Long Island. In Hardeeville, based on my first impression, I wasn’t sure if I could get much of a workout in— but faith is doing something, being willing to try, and believing that it will all workout.

Saturday— Greenway Trail-7.46 miles in 2:17:56 for a 18:29 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 76 bpm with an elevation gain of 500 feet at 84 degrees and 52 percent humidity.

Sunday- The neighborhood figure eight- 8.73 miles in 2:44:19 for a 18:48 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 72 bpm with an elevation gain of 161 feet at 70 degrees and 80 percent humidity.

Monday Hardeeville, SC: I did 8.6 miles in 2:45:43 for a 19:16 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 74 bpm with an elevation gain of 14 feet at 79 degrees and 92 percent humidity.

Tuesday in Hardeeville, SC: I got out early today because of my needing to be at the funeral home at 10 am in Beaufort, SC. I did 8.08 miles in 2:33:03 for an 18:56 minute per mile pace and heart rate of 73 bpm with an elevation gain of 52 feet thereabouts at 74 degrees and 97 percent humidity. It rained some before and some during the time. The police car was in front of my motel both days.

It was a surprising good time of workouts. I didn’t feel rushed, and I enjoyed myself. A gentleman even brought me out a cold bottle of water. I did a lot of loops, saw some pretty spots and enjoyed the deep south. In the Savannah, Georgia airport now , waiting for my flight to Baltimore and then to Islip. God is so good. Glad that I went to my Uncles funeral.

Foggy

I headed out the door, plotting in my head to try to get some semblance of a workout schedule for next week with all the travel. I think I have a plan ready. I’ve had an annoying air bubble in my right ear for quite some time. Don’t feel like pursuing it much with my doctor, but it is annoying and praying that it doesn’t bother me in the air flying. This morning I did my previous standard workout doing Woodlot, Ridge, Ryan 2 x, and Randall. I did 9.34 miles in 2:18:51 for a 14:51 minute per mile pace and heart rate of 157 bpm with an elevation gain of 179 feet at 64 degrees and 94 percent humidity. Have a blessed day!

Changes

I woke up this morning, feeling slightly more recharged thanks to a little more sleep. I decided on the Ridge Loop doing 9.37 miles in 2:15:59 for a 14:30 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 103 bpm with an elevation gain of 212 feet at 58 degrees and 91 percent humidity. I am looking to go to South Carolina to my Uncle Charles funeral. I know God will use me. God bless you!

Behind

I had problems with my watch— somehow recording 4 different workouts during the one workout. So the data is approximated- I did 9.3 miles in approximately 2:17 for a 14:45 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 120 bpm with an elevation gain of 200 feet at 58 degrees and 79 percent humidity. I got back late. Made it to work on time. Weird, but I’ll take it. God bless!

Monday/Tuesday

Monday was Memorial Day, also the last day of May. My Uncle Charles passed away today and my father is sick again. Jace was away the whole weekend which was a blessing. A chance to rest and bond again with Charlotte. Monday I did the Longwood Loop with no running at all— 9.37 miles in 2:22:58 for a 15:15 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 100 bpm with an elevation gain of 327 feet at 48 degrees and 94 percent humidity. Today I did 9.17 miles in 2:15:40 for a 14:48 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 160 bpm with an elevation gain of 144 feet at 51 degrees and 86 percent humidity. I did the Medford/Randall route since it keeps away from the dig walker at the end of my workout. Call me anti-social, but I don’t want this guy in my lane at the end of my workout. Looking to the Lord for His help, guidance, healing, and encouragement! God bless you today!

Relaxed

I went into the morning feeling calm. I don’t always feel that way, but this morning I did. I felt rested as I fell asleep fairly early. I got out and around in good season. My pace wasn’t overly fast, but I got out early enough so that my getting ready wasn’t rushed. I was able to do my wall squats as a bonus. Memorial Day weekend Friday is usually a light traffic day, so my commute was easy and fast. I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop doing 9.17 in 2:15:56 for a 14:49 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 96 bpm with an elevation gain of 175 feet at 57 degrees and 64 percent humidity. It felt like fall. The skys we’re beautiful and the air was clear. It felt good to be alive. God bless you!

Reversing Fortunes

I got a decent start this morning, but slow moving put me behind early. I noticed at mile three that my pace was like 15:44 per mile. I didn’t feel slow, but I was. I added portions of jogging to bring my pace back closer to normal. My commute this morning was slow. It didn’t help that I missed a turn on my GPS which set me behind. I did the Longwood loop doing 9.16 miles in 2:14:50 for a 14:43 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 94 bpm with an elevation gain of 294 feet at 67 degrees and 93 percent humidity. I’m blessed!

Wednesday, May 26, 2021

Good Morning

I got out a bit earlier, although I still was a couple of minutes late to work. I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop doing .  Something weird happened with my watch. It cut out about 3/4 of a mile of my workout for no reason. It stopped and restarted. So I did some guestimates. I did 9 miles in approximately 2:15 for a 15:00 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 120 bpm with an elevation gain of 383 feet at 62 degrees and 89 percent humidity. Have a blessed day friend.

Tuesday, May 25, 2021

Cool Morning

I had a good workout despite being tired and not being able to get out of my own way for anything else. I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.15 miles in 2:14:10 for a 14:39 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 144 bpm with an elevation gain of 204 feet at 48 degrees and 89 percent humidity. My wife found the Flex keys in an answer to prayer. God be praised!

Monday, May 24, 2021

Nice Spring Monday

I got off to a decent enough start, but I sputtered getting ready for work. Just slow with a few curve balls thrown at me. I did the 3 times Woodlot plus doing.9.35 miles in 2:15:44 for a 14:31 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 152 bpm with an elevation gain of 150 feet at 60 degrees and 60 percent humidity. A good workout to start the week. Weight up to 200 again. Will get her down. God bless!

Okay to Be Slow

I got out fairly early this morning, taking the pressure off my workout pace. I decided to do the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop. I did 9.08 in 2:16:57 for a 15:04 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 97 bpm with an elevation gain of 335 feet at 47 degrees and 91 percent humidity. I am tired this morning. I got 225 pounds stuck on my chest as I was too tired on the last rep to get it up. So, thankfully I got it up injury free. Even made it to work on time. Cheating on my intermittent fasting with a light and sweet coffee. That’s a doable cheat. God bless!

Better Late...

I started getting ready for my workout early and had great plans to get out early. BUT my stomach was not good and put me 10 minutes late. I decided to keep trudging along and let the chips fall where they may. I ended up getting back a little sooner than anticipated and made it out to my car at about the same time as yesterday. Thankfully, I made it to school on time and one minute earlier than yesterday. I did 3 x Woodlot plus a little extra for 9.30 miles in 2:13:24 for a 14:20 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 120 bpm with an elevation gain of 184 feet at 50 degrees and 86 percent humidity. Grateful!

A Blessing

My leg got bruised Monday night moving the 600 pound boiler out of the basement. I felt the bruise yesterday, especially at the end of the workout. Today I was skeptical of a finish of the workout. I did the 3x Woodlot Loop— this allows me an opt out if my leg is hurting. I pulled back a little on my effort and thankfully I made it through the workout at an okay pace. Leg is a little sore, but is better than yesterday. I did 9.01 miles in 2:12:4 for  a 14:40 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 118 bpm with an elevation gain of 182 feet at 58 degrees and 69 percent humidity. I’m blessed. Have a good day!

Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Monday/Tuesday

Both days I started ahead , but ended up a bit behind. Still I managed to clock in on time both days. Last night Jace and I had to move the 600 pound boiler up the stairs . The boiler ended up coming back onto my right quad. I did work out this morning, but my quad is now quite stiff. Lord willing it will loosen up.

Monday (Longwood)- 9.08 miles in 2:16:17 for a 15:00 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 105 bpm with an elevation gain of 311 feet at 50 and 81 percent humidity.

Tuesday (Randall/Ridge)- 9.29 miles in 2:17:38 for a 14:49 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 90 feet with an elevation gain of 184 degrees at 55 degrees and 73 percent humidity.

Have a most blessed day! Jesus is Lord!

Feeling Spry but Performing Otherwise

I headed out the door thinking that I was doing pretty good, but I quickly was reminded that I was not. I think the mowing the lawn took a little bit of starch out of my legs. I did the Woodlot, Ridge, and Randall Loop doing 9.01 miles in 2:12:49 for a 14:44 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 102 bpm with an elevation gain of 194 feet at 46 degrees and 69 percent humidity. Looking forward to a restful weekend. God bless!

Thursday, May 13, 2021

Nice

I was tired when waking up, but I kept the momentum going. I made it out the door in good time. Thankfully, I even got two sets of bench presses in. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.06 miles in 2:12:24 for a 14:36 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 104 bpm with an elevation gain of 338 feet at 44 degrees and 74 percent humidity. Thankful for a good start to the day!

I Get Ahead to Fall Behind

This week is the week of little disturbances. I have to put a couple of logs on the fire when I wake up. I have to put the cat out and the cat ended up getting caught up on stuff. I put out the wrong deposits. That said, I made amazing time on my commute. On my workout, I headed out on the late side of normal but I made good time working out. I did the Niewood version on the Longwood Loop doing 9.05 in 2:11:48 for a 14:33 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 96 bpm with an elevation gain of 326 feet at 47 degrees and 50 percent humidity. I’m grateful for the Lord’s many blessings!

About the Same

I thought that I would be ahead of the curve today, but it ended up being a ditto type of day. I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randall, Whiskey route doing 9.17 in 2:11:13 for a 14:18 minute per mile pace and heart rate of 163 bpm with an elevation gain of 184 feet at 47 degrees and 81 percent humidity. Got to work on time at about the same time. Have a blessed day!

Short on Sleep but Getting it Done

Digestive issues interrupted sleep. Tired, but God helped me. Did 9.03 miles in 2:14:20 ish for a 24:50 ish pace with a 320 ish elevation gain at 47 degrees and 93 percent humidity. Tired and hopeful — God bless and good night!

Alone

I had a peaceful day yesterday, just feel like an outsider in my own house. Sometimes you take a stand and it is the right thing to do, but  the action alienates you from the non-blood members of your family. I was and am tired today. I did the Woodlot, Ridge, Randall figure 8 with some extras. I did 9.13 miles in 2:11:35 for a 14:24 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 127 bpm with an elevation gain of 201 feet at 45 degrees and 63 percent humidity. Tired but blessed! God bless you all!

Powered By Stress and a Lack of Sleep

I did 8.99 miles in 2:10:37 for a 14:31 minute per mile pace and heart rate of 137 bpm with an elevation gain of 318 feet at 48 degrees and 75 percent humidity. I did not have the best evening yesterday with a family blowup. Today’s a new day. God bless you!

The Week of Slow

I got out a bit later than usual. I was welcomed by my stepson’s shoe’s right in front of my door. He also backed into the house with his truck. God is trying to teach me patience:) I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop doing 9.01 miles in 2:15:55 for a 15:04 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 122 bpm with an elevation gain of 332 feet at a drizzly 49 degrees and 92 percent humidity. Have a blessed day!

Rainy Tuesday

I headed out the door on the late side of on-time. I could feel that I wasn’t moving fast. Sometimes that’s just the way it is. I did 9.07 in 2:14:43 for a 14:51 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 110 bpm at 53 degrees and 95 percent humidity. Have a blessed day!

First School Day in May

It was a quiet spring morning. I felt fairly rested after a good weekend. I did the Ridge Loop for a change on a Monday. I did 9.0 in 2:12:20 for a 14:42 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 123 bpm with an elevation gain of 185 feet at 54 degrees and 84 percent humidity. I’m blessed to be alive! God is good ❤️

Remembering Lenny

Charlotte was working early at WW so I decided to hit the Greenway Trail in Port Jefferson which goes to East Setauket. I often would come across my friend Lenny and his wife Ruth on the trail. It’s been nearly a year since I hiked on that trail. The last time I hiked it was at the hight of the pandemic. Things have changed a lot since then, with today feeling almost like the good ole days. Only one guy put his mask up when I passed. It’s nice that people are relaxing— probably due to receiving the vaccine. I did the full course with its excursions. I even picked up a nitro cold brew with sweet cream foam. The sweet foam was a little cheat since I’ve been doing the intermittent fasting. I needed a few calories and the two shots of especially. It was a beautiful, cool, breezy spring morning. I was reminded of my many blessings as I am as walking along. It’s so easy in the struggles and disappointments of life to forget the incredible blessings that God gives. God doesn’t reveal His full plan because He wants us to walk this life by faith. I did 9.69 miles in 2:46:35 for a 17:11 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 80 bpm with an elevation gain of 655 feet at 43 degrees and 59 percent humidity. Lord willing, Ericka and the girls are coming over this afternoon. Have a blessed day!

Workshop Friday

I am working remotely this Friday due to some of our staff having some training. This means that I can get out a bit later than normal. The weather was comfortable and breezy. I just wore a light long sleeve shirt. I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop doing 9.1 miles in 2:12:27 for a 14:33 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 157 bpm with an elevation gain of 190 feet at 62 degrees and 84 percent humidity. The Patriots drafted most likely their quarterback of the future in Mac Jones from Alabama. Have a blessed day!

Thursday

I got out a few minutes earlier today, which set me up for a better day and feeling decent. The only bad part of my day was that my clocking in app didn’t load, so I clocked in later. I did the Ridge loop doing 9.14 miles in 2:11:55 for a 14:26 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 157 bpm with an elevation gain of 219 feet at a drizzly  55 degrees and 87 percent humidity. I had a nice talk with my brother this morning. God bless you my friends!

Not Bad for a Monday

I headed out on the late side of normal, but I did okay. I was a bit faster pace for a Monday. Traffic was decent for a Monday. These factors combined for making it to work on time. I did 9.01 miles in 2:12:56 for a 14:45 minute per mile workout with an average heart rate of 138 bpm with an elevation gain of 314 feet at 45 degrees and 50 percent humidity. I still feel out of sync, but am grateful for the Lord’s provision and grace. Have a blessed day!

The Rare Day

This Friday morning I found myself slightly ahead of schedule, but seemed to find things to do to keep me at schedule. By the time I headed for work, arriving on time seemed like a dream. Fortunately, I made it with a minute to spare. My workout was good , and I made it below the 14 minute mark for only the second time that I can remember for this year. I did 9.09 in 2:06:22 for a 13:54 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 128 bpm with an elevation gain of 187 feet at 39 degrees and 51 percent humidity. Lord willing, we are picking up a Kia Soul in Connecticut today so taking half a work day. Be blessed!

5 Minutes

I was really tired upon waking this morning.  Without the help of habit, I would have been snoozing. The workout is always rewarding and I am always grateful when the workout is completed. I did 9.1 miles in 2:10:17 for a 14:19 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 135 bpm with an elevation gain of 257 feet at 36 degrees and 51 percent humidity. I got back 5 minutes earlier today. Five minutes makes a huge difference. I made it to work on time again. Have a blessed day.

Comeback Performance

I did the Longwood Loop , even with a later start. My pace made up for the late start and I made it back at my usual time. I was slightly miffed to realize that I accidentally paused my watch at the halfway point on Longwood. Thankfully, my watch settings give me the total distance— even if it isn’t included under the workout portion of my settings. I did approximately 9.1 miles in approximately 2:12. My approximated pace is 4:40 minute per mile pace with an approximate heart rate of 93 bpm with an elevation gain of approximately 320 feet. I made it to work in time even with a late start. Thank you Lord.

Just Missed It

I headed out again, feeling a bit tired but grateful to be out and about. I was sort of surprised to see it drizzle, but the rain makes for a peaceful workout. I did 8.98 miles in the 2:13:55 for a 14:54 with an average heart rate of 111 bpm with an elevation gain of 321 feet at 52 degrees and 88 percent humidity. Improved Morale

I woke up seemingly having shaken the fatigue that plagued me from the vaccine. Another week, another funeral last night. My wife and I seem more like roommates at the moment. Hopefully I bump into her period 4 if she’s not busy.

I did 9.04 in 2:15:17 for a 14:57 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 140 bpm with an elevation gain of 318 feet at 46 degrees and 81 percent humidity. My times have been slower this week. Day 5 of intermittent fasting. God bless you!

A Positive Reaction

I had my second Moderna Shot yesterday and I did not have an adverse reaction — even now nearly 24 hours after the vaccine shot. I had a good night’s sleep and a better workout. I did 9.1 miles in 2:15:25 for a 14:53 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 143 bpm with an elevation gain of 175 feet at 42 degrees and and 81 percent humidity on the Medford/Randall Loop. I am on day 4 of the intermittent fast. I eat from 12 noon to 8 o’clock during the day. I am blessed! Thank you Jesus!

Experiment

I am trying the intermittent fast to try to regulate my digestive tract and lower my weight. So far my digestive issues have been helped, but my weight—- not yet. I’m not worried. The diet of eating at the restaurant and then splurging for Wrestmania didn’t help the weight. Just praying that things go better with my wife. She has so much going and is so into her son and grandson that I am feeling like a bystander in my own marriage. I have been clear on my feelings, but I’m not sure if that is important. It just seems that the directions and family vision that my wife and I have are totally different entities. I love her dearly, I am just feeling so divided.

I did 9.02 miles in 2:15:04 for a 14:58 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 93 bpm with an elevation gain of 344 feet at 44 degrees and 89 percent humidity. There was a little drizzle in the air at times. I didn’t have a long sleep as I watched Wrestlemania last night with family and a friend and his son from church.

Decent Finish

I got out the door at about the same time as yesterday. My time frame was almost exactly the same as yesterday, and I clocked in on time again. I did 9.03 mile in 2:10:30 for a 14:27 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 122 bpm with an elevation gain of 317 feet at 41 degrees and 100% humidity. I did the Longwood Loop for the fourth time this week.  Last day at school with 2nd grade at our site and the 3rd and 4th graders in the building. Our old friends i grades 6-8 coming back on Tuesday. Lord willing, getting my second coronavirus shot on Monday at 4:30. Have a blessed day!

Ditto Day

Today, Thursday, seemed to mirror yesterday in many  ways. The main difference is starting 4 minutes later. For some reason I was able to get back home and to work at about the same time as yesterday. I did 9.07 miles in 2:10:54 for a 14:26 minute with an average heart rate of 151 bpm with an elevation gain of 308 feet at 39 degrees and 88 percent humidity. Thank you Lord for your goodness!

Great Start

Any morning where I can get a good workout and get to work on time are good mornings. I did 9..06 miles in 2:11:14 for a 14:28 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 102 bpm with an elevation gain of 335 feet at 39 degrees and 83 percent humidity. I am working to get my weight under 200 and then back down to 193. Looking to God in many areas. Trusting in his love and His plan.

Good Effort

I had another one of those nights where I slept great until 2 something and then laid in bed unable to get back to sleep. The dog even started howling at one point. I did the Medford/Randall Loop doing 9.05 miles in 2:12:24 for a 14:38 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 147 bpm with an elevation gain of 181 feet at 47 degrees and 42 percent humidity. I am tired now, but the Lord provide strength. Thank you Jesus!

Friday/Monday

Friday(at Calverton)- 9.4 miles in 2:47:28 for a 17:48 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 77 bpm with an elevation gain of 200 feet at 33 degrees and 50 percent humidity.

Sunday night marked a night of terrible sleep after 2:00 pm. I am grateful that I did manage good sleep before that point. Looking to the Lord for the changes that need to happen. I went to work to find that I had an extra day of vacation. Good surprise. Have a blessed day!

Slow Going on A Windy Rainy Morning

Got out early again as I had an errand to run for the church. I did the Calverton loop doing 9.27 miles in 2:57:47 for a 19:10 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 74 bpm with an elevation gain of 220 feet at 44 degrees and 89 percent humidity. I did a lot of texting and just could not get my groove going. Nonetheless, it was a blessed morning. It’s all about the overall plan and having faith in your plans. Thank you Lord for your undeserved blessings.

Earlier in Calverton

I thought that I would have to be out and around earlier today, but as it were— things got canceled. I was supposed to meet my daughter and 3 granddaughters for a hike at 10:30. Unfortunately, she was not feeling well so the event got canceled. I made it to Calverton just passed 6 am. I did a little extra stairs due to missing my phone for the first up and down the stairs 5 times — so I did it a second time . I did 9.47 miles in 2:53:57 for an 18:22 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 74 bpm with an elevation gain of 221feet at 53 degrees and 80 percent humidity. I met a guy named Barry who I have passed each day. Enjoying the slower pace so far this vacation. Having some blood drawn later. Have a blessed day!

Spring Break—Monday/Tuesday at Calverton

I am taking it easier so far this week going on leisurely hikes on the Calverton loop at the Veterans Park Trail. Sometimes it’s helpful just to take it easier and take advantage of a chance to get refreshed.

Monday- 9.38 miles in 2:55:35 for an 18:42 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 75 bpm with an elevation gain of 283 feet at 44 degrees and 48 percent humidity. It was a very breezy day.

Have a most blessed day!

Comeback

I started a little bit behind this morning. My watch I started early— I got the garbage and did a little extra inside before heading down the road. I started out slow and even had a little “pit stop “.  Thankfully I maintained a decent pace in the middle miles and came on strong at the end. I did 9.07 miles in 2:10:48 for a 14:25 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 87 bpm with an elevation gain of 326 feet at 53 degrees and 99 percent humidity. I’m attending my friend Lenny’s visiting hours tonight. Sad that he died young, but I am grateful that I knew him. God bless you richly!

Wednesday in March

I woke up and felt very tired. I was even tired after drinking my big cup of coffee. A Good Day(but no-one is talking to me)

I had a long day yesterday. A half day with the students and then a full day until 8 with parent/teacher conferences). At around 8:30 last night, I made a comment about taking a dog for a walk because nobody else made the effort to walk the dog. The comment was made to my daughter only, but a suddenly quiet Char, Jace, and Amber heard my comment. Well, things have been quiet since. The tension is there.

This morning I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.14 in 2:10:06 for a 14:14 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 101 bpm with an elevation gain of 196 feet at 33 degrees and 74 percent humidity. It was a windy cool late winter workout. Lord willing, heading to my parents tonight. Have a blessed day!

Uncharted Territory ( for awhile)

I wasn’t feeling overly inspired, but I was inspired enough. I have been getting up 5 minutes later than usual this week. This just means that I have to verify quickly get into my Bible reading. I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop doing 9.10 miles in 2:06:54 for a 13:56 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 100 bpm with an elevation gain of 323 feet with a temperature of 41degrees with humidity at 77 percent. This is my first sub fourteen minute per mile pace in a long time. I’m thankful even with my weight at 200 pounds. Have a blessed day!

Late , but not Late

I was so far behind getting out this morning, right up to my departing for work. Things just seemed to put me behind. Thankfully, I clocked into work just one minute later than yesterday. Grateful

This was another morning where things didn’t go quite right, but it’s alright anyway. I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot workout doing 8.88 miles in 2:11:41 for a 14:49 minute per mile workout including one pitstop and not pausing the time. It was truly a beautiful morning. I saw two girls outside of Strathmore getting ready to street fight with a crowd of two girls and a tall dude watching then beside their parked car. This new living arrangement means that my wife often gets pulled into helping her son with one of his “projects “. The us time has become “family “ time. Still praising God!

ICE

I headed out the door knowing that there was an ice warning, but according to my phone the temp was well above freezing. Upon heading out the door I realized that the icy roads were a reality. I decided to go out and give it my best shot and I did. The last month or so the weather has proved a challenge in making for challenging surfaces. Thankfully the Lord has given me the strength. I did the same route doing 8.79 miles in 2:11:47 for a 14:59 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 198 feet with an average heart rate of 95 bpm at 35 degrees and 77 percent humidity. God bless you!

A New Start

The week away from Ridge, made today an adjustment workout even though I’ve done it hundreds of times. I was able to do my standard workout thanks to good road conditions doing the Woodlot, Ridge, and Randall loop. My weight is slightly over the Mendoza line. Got ti get it back down. I did 8.81 miles in 2:06:27 for a 14:21 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 95 bpm with an elevation gain of 235 feet at 24 degrees and 74 percent humidity. I’m back at work rather than working remotely from home. I’m blessed!

Saying “See You Later Maine”

Today I decided to do a bonus shorter workout. I have been feeling good and I wanted to enjoy the peaceful streets of Hope one more morning before heading back to Long Island. I am looking forward to seeing Charlotte, but not so much the rest. I talked with Ericka on the way down and she needs a bit of help. Glad that I am able to do so. This morning I did the 2 x Barnestown loop doing 6.09 miles in 1:29:26 for a 14:40 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 102 bpm with an elevation gain of 584 feet at 20 degrees and 75 percent humidity on mixed bare and slushy roads. Waiting for the ferry now. Love you Lord and miss you Maine.

Cold Ending to My Stay in Eastport

My body and spirit are still kind of running on Eastport time. The pace of life and the feel. I always feel kind of sad when I leave this place. First, I am leaving behind two daughters and two grandsons. It’s hard being away, but I know that they have each other and the Lord.

I have had beautiful and comfortable accommodations. I was concerned that the weather would interfere with my workouts, but thankfully I got in three wonderful workouts. I had two nice evening walks, one of them with my daughter Kaitland. I am blessed. I have enjoyed the peace and quiet, but I am ready to be once again with my beautiful wife in this time of adjusting to sharing the space with a small family.

Today I did another variation of the same workout that I have done each day. The 5 k loop and dump road have been the staples of the workout with other variations each day. Today I did 9.28 miles in 2:21:59 for a 15:17 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 97 bpm with an elevation gain of 670 feet at a cold 14 degrees and 64 percent humidity.

Lord willing off to Hope later today. Lord use me today!

Sunny, Icy, but Thank the Lord..

...for dirt and gravel. Fortunately, the town crew dropped loads of gravel on the roads to make for sure footing. I have done variations of my routes to accommodate my need and mood. I headed out later than usual to allow the trucks plenty of time to treat the roads. The sun was bright on this cool and breezy downeast morning.  I start out skeptical, like a caterpillar comfortable in its cocoon— not wanting to peak out. Too comfortable to attempt the workout. But as I get around, I come to life. When I hit the roadsI am so glad to be alive and around. My whole life since getting married and moving has involved travel and lodging. Being alone a lot. The being alone is okay and serves a purpose. I just wished that there was a common direction in my marriage. There is unmistakable and wonderful love. I just pray for that common family direction. I did basically 2 times the 5 k loop plus down and back on the dump road with a few minor variations. Here are the stats— 9.58 in 2:24:19 with an average heart rate of 100 bpm with an elevation gain of 574 feet with an average pace of 15:04 minute per mile at 24 degrees and 76 percent humidity. I found out that I had to find another place to stay since I only had the room for two nights with no vacancy for Wednesday night. So I ended up at the Todd House. I have a beautiful room— just have to traipse through the house to get to it. I am thankful though. Last night in Eastport. Have a blessed day! God is good!
