You Light(ning) Up My Life

I looked at my watch to check the temp and the forecast to see how I should dress for my workout. I saw a temp of 57 and forecast for sun. I headed out the door at 4:23 for my Medford/Randall/Woodlot  Loop. By mile 2 the sky was lighting up by lightning illuminating the landscape for a split second as if it were daytime.  Each lightning strike was followed by thunder indicating that the storm was around 7 miles south of Ridge near Mastic. I ended up doing 8.85 miles in 1:57:59 at a 13:20 minute per mile walking pace with an elevation gain of 117 feet with an average pulse of 116 bpm.  The storm never moved towards is , but the last couple of miles I experienced drizzle which seemed to feel good.  It was a good week of training, considering Injust kind of feel numb inside-- kind of tired, a bit beaten down , but not defeated.  Praying for a good weekend for myself and my family. God Bless!

Twilight Zone

This was a day where the effort, time, distance, and elevation gain just didn't add up. I did 8.62 miles in 1:50:43 for a 12:49 minute per mile pace, with an average heartrate of 124 bpm, and an elevation gain of 105 feet.  I has to add little loops to get my usual distance on the Figure 8 Extra Plus. It's just strange how stats can vary so much from day to day. I ran some
To make up for a pit stop at the house. Looking to the Lord for strength. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday/Wednesday- Wet and Drizzly

Tale of the tape Tuesday-- 8.8 miles in 1:53:58 for a 12:57 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 154 feet with an average pulse of 119 bpm and today I did 8.65 miles in 1:53:10 for a 13:04 with an elevation gain of 185 feet with an average pulse of 120 bpm. Both days I did the figure 8 extra plus-- Tuesday was a rainier and cooler today bit today was wet and drizzle.  I've been a bit tired , but the Lord has given me the strength to get through.  Yesterday I had to add 10 pick-ups to get my pace up and to get back at a decent time. God is strengthening me with good friends-- thank you Lord.

Burning off the Fog

I got out on the late side of normal , but decided to ht the Ridge Road Loop as I wanted the solitude. I was thinking that with a good pace I could still make it back on time.  The roads were quiet with anland dog permeating the air.  With a 37 degree air temp with the warmer temps warming up the ground- the result is fog. Here is the tale of the tape-- 9.22 in 1:59:12 for a 12:55 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 132 bpm with an elevation gain of 117 feet.  I could say more , but will leave this post as stated. Have a blessed day!

Foggy Friday

I woke up fortunately, because I did not set my alarm.  I had ny 5 hour energy then popped out of bed.  I was a little bit nehind so I settled for the figure 8 extra plus workout doing 8.72 miles in 1:54:23 for a 13:07 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 172 feet and an average heartrate of 99 bpm.  I did enjoy the solitude of the loop with the exception of RHF fencing where trucks are going in and out like crazy. Glad that it is Friday-- God has seen me through this week! Thank you Lord!

No Rhythm

I got up at my usual time and managed to get out at my usual time.  I did the Randall plus extra loop doing 8.87 miles in 1:57:57 for a 13:10 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 118 feet with an average pulse of 105 bpm.  I am blessed to be getting stuff done, but it just seems that there are lots of obstacles that are slowing things down which agitates me. Sometimes God allows this to slow us down, so I know that I can trust Him. Have a blessed day!

Back in the Groove

I woke up today with a heavy heart once again, as my youngest daughter is in North Carolina and I don't know where she is there.  The workout today was my first one in over a week at my normal early morning start.  I did the Longwood Loop doing 8.83 in 1:57:56 for a 13:20 minute per mile pace .  The heartrate and elevation gain were not recorded due I think to the fact
That I worked out without my phone. I'm a little anxious about the day, but at least I got to work at a great time. My weight was up to 200 pounds so I will work to get it backnsown to low and mid 190's . Have a blessed day!

Back in Ridge

I woke up st 5 something. It was sunny and 43 degrees.  I did the Ridge Loop as it is more secluded.  I enjoyed being on a relatively flat course after attacking the hills for four days.  Back in Ridge I am adjusting to the old routine.  The tale of the tape-- 9.19 miles in 1:56:11 for a 12:38 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 124 feet and an average pulse of 120 bpm. Doing the flats seemed relatively easy after the challenging hills of Eastport and Hope.  My wife is busy preparing for Easter at Genesis. Praying for my daughter Katie as she visits beauty school today. Kim being in North Carolina is weighing heavily on me. Have a blessed day!

Pleasant Wednesday in Hope

I finished my four workouts in Maine by doing a 9 plus miler at my parent's in Hope, Maine.  I had a decent night's rest, visited with my dad before he went to work before hitting the Howe Hill , Barnestown Loop. A small portion of the loop intersects a loop that I used to do in my younger days at a much faster pace. Here are the tales of the tape I did 9.2 in 1:59:11 for a 12:56 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 874 feet with an average pulse of 123 bpm. I was surprised at my pace on this challenging hilly course after 3 previous 10 mile and hilly workouts.  Although the workouts are good I am sad that I won't be seeing my daughter Kaitland and grandson Keon today. Also, my youngest daughter Kimberly has moved to North Carolina with her boyfriend's family. I am looking to the Lord for his help and sustaining power. It was a wonderful visit with precious time spent with those so precious to me. God Bless you my friend! So looking forward to seeing my beautiful wife Charlotte again❤

Last Day in Town( for awhile)

I woke up after another pleasant night's sleep realizing that this was my last night in a place that I once called home.  This place is my comfort zone and maybe that's why the Lord uprooted me and prompted me to move in this place that still feels like home.  I did my three loop route again , but I added a hill going up to road by the boat terminal. I did my best distance and best pace for the three days here doing 10.19 miles in 2:11:55 for a 12:56 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 624 feet with an average pulse of 125 bpm.  The quietness and beauty surrounded bu ocean views.  I did these routes for years, but never took the beauty for granted. Today I will enjoy time with my daughter and grandson before heading with my daughter Bekah for my parents in Hope. Off to a day that hopefully includes a good cup of Dastardly Dicks Mayan Mocha. Thank you Lord for your many blessings!

Another 10

I decided to do my new standby loop with the following roads included-- Adams Street, Redoubt Hill, Estes Head, and Quoddy Village. Here is the tale of the tape 10.14 in 2:12:33 for a 13:05 minute per mile pace and an average heartrate of 119 bpm with an elevation gain of 619 feet. I felt decent, I find that I can't sleep in even when I want to.  I had a great time with my daughter Kaitland and my grandson Keon. I saw many friends at the basketball tournament game at BRS. I followed that up with a supper at The New Friendly .  We finished things with a car ride around the Lake Road and then back on the South Meadow Road followed by a ride around Eastport.  There is nothing and I mean nothing better than spending time with my wife and daughters. I am so blessed to be able to spend this time with my daughter and grandson. My last night here in Eastport. Thank you Jesus for your many blessings!

I Go Faster and Longer in Eastport

I woke up earlier than planned, but that's ok it's vacation week.  I was in a bit of a funk arriving here yesterday-- with my ex-wife complaining about my presence in town and my youngest daughter still moved out if my house I am feeling alone in my troubles.  This morning I felt more hopeful and did my workout of the three loops-- The Adam's /Clark street loop-- the County Road/High Street Loop-- The Dump Road Out and Back Loop.  I changed things a bit going down the Boat Terminal Road and added a hill in there.  This place will always feel like home I think. I always enjoy the beauty and solitude with ocean views all around. Here is the tale of the tape-- 10.1 miles in 2:11:09 for a 12:59 minute per mile pace with an average pulse of 131 bpm. I wish the elevation gain showed on my app but it didn't.  My legs feel a bit fatigued now. My loose plan is for my new standby route tomorrow and finishing with a flat workout on Tuesday-- but lets see. Missing my Charlotte. Let's see what God has in store for the rest of this visit!

This morning I did the Longwood Loop doing 8.92 miles in 2:00:19for a 13:29 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 138 bpm and an elevation gain of 241 feet at a temp of 42 degrees. Yesterday I was soaked to the core and tomorrow looks like a similar weather day.  Lord willing I am heading to Eastport for a visit and then to Hope. I am just praying that everything works out. Praying for Kim to return home. Have a blessed day!

Soaked

I woke up a bit early to the sound of pouring rain. I read my Bible and then headed out rhe door. I did  the Ridge Loop doing 9.20 in 2:02:47 for a 13:20 minute per mile pace walking pace with an average pulse of 138 bpm and an elevation gain of 288 feet. I was soaked and many times thought to myself how foolish it was to be out in the puring rain. Many places were completely flooded out with my feet submerged in water. Well, I am glad that I persisted and actually did a set of chins and benches and made it to work in decent time. God Bless!

Red Sky in Morning...

It was a good weekend, getting stuff done nit not rushed. This morning I once again beat my alarm.  I took a swig of my 5 hour energy and then crawled tentatively out of bed. I did the Longwood Loop doing 8.85 in 1:58:43 for a 13:24 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 250 and an average pulse of 138 bpm. Have a blessed day!
