Finishing

I love Friday’s as I know that I can sleep in the next day. This was a good week of training. My pace was good for this year and considering that I don’t have any jog segments in order to protect my knees. I did the neighborhood figure 8 plus doing 9.1 miles in 3:15:26 for a 14:52 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 99 bpm with an elevation gain of 207 feet with an average cadence of 131 spm at 31 degrees. Even got a set of chin-ups in and made it to work in time. Have a blessed weekend!

January 26 and 27

I just have been focused on getting the work in. I forgot to post yesterday. Here are the stats: Wednesday: 9.1 miles in 2:16:18 for a 14:58 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 150 bpm with an elevation gain of 289 feet with an average cadence of 130 spm at 25 degrees.

Today/Thursday: I noticed after a little over a mile that my watch was moving. I was a little ticked off since I hit the started the watch at the beginning of my workout. Here is a good estimate: 9.2 miles in 2:16 ish for a 14:56 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 165 bpm with an elevation gain of 199 feet with an average cadence of 132 spm at 17 degrees. It has been busy, but the Lord has provided. God bless you!

Queasy but Still Getting Along

I headed out glad that the temps were a bit higher. There was a feeling that something was off with my stomach, not a sick feeling— an off feeling.  The early morning can be a challenge, because I need to get the work in regardless of how I feel. Despite the challenge this morning I made it through thankfully. I did 9.14 miles in 2:18:19 for a 15:08 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 87 bpm with an elevation gain of 251 feet with an average cadence of 128 spm around 37 degrees. Blessed to get the work in on this challenging day.  Jesus is Lord!

A Later Start

I have a blood draw this morning, so I am going into work at noon. This means I could head out later on my workout and not be rushed. I did the Ridge Loop a loop that I usually don’t go on during recent school days. It was pretty with light snow falling the entire time. The Ridge loop is wooded more than the other workouts. I did 9.27 miles in 2:22:52 for a 15:25 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 106 bpm with an elevation gain of 256 feet with an average cadence of 128 spm at 29 snowy degrees.  Always stuff to do , but a little bit of a slower pace for the morning. God bless you!

Will see if I’m on jury duty next week. God bless you!

Strange Start

I didn’t set my alarm this morning, but I heard my muted phone vibrating. I checked( sometime before 5) and noticed my daughter Bekah needed me to take her to work as she was having car trouble. I picked her up and drove to my house. I let Bekah drive my car from there. I decided to go for a walk in street clothes as it was raining out. It seemed strange starting out this way, but it was a good change.  As the walk progressed, my mood and outlook improved.  I did 9.3 miles in 2:53:19 for an 18:38 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 68 bpm with an elevation gain of 251 feet with an average cadence of 112 spm at 45 rainy/cloudy degrees. Thank you Lord for this good workout !!

Comfort Loop

There are times when you feel a little fragile and you look for the easiest way to accomplish your goals.  This week I just don’t feel like straying far from home. I did the Woodlot Loop plus a bit for 9.22 miles in 2:19:30 for a 15:07 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 142 bpm with an elevation gain of 190 feet at an average cadence of 129 spm at 33 degrees. Grateful ❤️🙏🏻!

Feeling Like Maine

The temp was 10 degrees when I woke up. I know Maine was colder, but 10 degrees is cold for Long Island. I knew that adding one more layer would be the answer to my problem of exercising in the cold. I decided on the Medford/Randall Loop for 9.20 in 2:18:58 for a 15:06 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 163 bpm with an elevation gain of 255 feet with an average cadence of 130 spm at 22 degrees. Char had a runny nose and a sore throat so she tested herself for Covid— it was negative. Have a blessed day!

The Blessing of the Mundane

I was tired when I woke up. My wife didn’t even stir a little bit. In my younger years, I would have stayed in bed. I know however that I am always glad that I did my workout when I am finished. I did the neighborhood loop doing 9.15 miles in 2:17:08 for a 14:59 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 165 bpm with an elevation gain of 213 feet with an average cadence of 131 spm at 21 windy cool degrees. Grateful to be done. Have a blessed day!

Windy Conditions in The Shadows of Winter

I woke up early and on time to my very early alarm. It was above freezing, but the temperature was dropping quickly. I did the 3 x Woodlot Loop with a little extra added at the beginning to ensure I made it to 9 miles. I did 9.29 miles in 2:22:44 for a 15:21 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 132 bpm with an average cadence of 128 spm with an elevation gain of 262 feet at 35 windy degrees. It was a quiet morning only seeing a couple of woman from Apple Court out walking. Have a blessed day!

Whiskey Lady

I was fortunate knowing that I already had a snow day. I was able to have a relaxed end of Thursday and a relaxed Friday morning. My wife was awake so I didn’t linger long in the bedroom. I headed out the door  not exactly sure which route I was going to do. Initially I was going to do the neighborhood loop which quickly changed to doing the Woodlot Loop 3 times. As I continued down Raynor, I decided to go all the way on Whiskey road. I ended up heading down a road just before Canal Road. The traffic got more hectic the further down the road I got.  On the way back I saw a lady straddled on the curb by the roundabout on Coram/Mt. Sinai road. I never could do this route on a good day. On a snow day, I often go on an adventure. On the way back I headed up Woodlot and walked the trail over to Raynor before heading home. I finished up by shoveling my driveway out. Stats- 9.28 miles in 2:32:17 for a 16:24 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 94 bpm with an elevation gain of 248 feet with an average cadence of 128 spm at 30 degrees. The footing became increasingly slippery as my workout progressed. Have a blessed day!

Good Decision

I chose to go on short sleep and stay with my schedule. Even romance comes with a little price when you get up so early. I also had the pressure of having to redo my progress report comments due to a computer mistake. This morning I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.18 miles in 2:18:34for a 15:05 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 157 bpm with an elevation gain of 273 feet with an average cadence of 129 spm at 40 degrees, but cooling quickly at the end causing some ice to form. Have a blessed day!

Kinda Weird Vibes

The pandemic is a revealer of the reality of the true state of things. Our school is decimated with many staff and students out due to Covid. The list grows larger daily even as some people return. It’s evident that the staff at the school is not valued. Our health is not important. There are benefits however including reduced traffic, fewer students, lower expectations. This morning I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.13 miles in 2:18:35 for a 15:11 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 148 bpm with an elevation gain of 342 feet with an average cadence of 128 spm  at 39 damp degrees. A little tired , but still blessed!

Looping Around

I decided to stick strictly to walking with no jogging intervals as my knees were very sore yesterday going down stairs.  The walking paid off as my knees are feeling much better. I did the Woodlot/Raynor Loop doing  9.18 miles in 2:16:56 for a 14:55 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 148 bpm with an elevation gain of 266 feet with an average cadence of 131spm at 23 breezy degrees.

Notes— I set my alarm incorrectly, so fortunately I woke up only slightly late. I passed the dog walker on Raynor. I realized that he is actually trying to walk fast and I passed him fairly easily. I saw Tim staying with his former mother in law’s having an early morning smoke. I’m glad I stayed with the walking even though I was running behind schedule. I’ve had a time buffer since this pandemic has depleted the highways. There are parts of this pandemic that have been a benefit. I’m grateful that God is in control in my situation and in the big picture. Have a blessed day!

First Official Workout 2022

I woke up early. First day back to school after Christmas break and first day working out in 2022. I am grateful for health in the midst of this pandemic with so many close to me sick with Covid. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.13 in 2:19:56 for a 15:19 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 118 bpm with an elevation gain of 313 feet with an average cadence of 130 spm at 33 cloudy very dark degrees. Have a blessed day!

Finale in Hope/Hello to Ridge- Goodbye to 2021

Thursday- I woke up and was enjoying the peace of the quiet in bed. I quietly transitioned to my workout. I was afraid of a few slick spots, but the footing was fine. I did the Howe Hill Loop. I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of Maine even though the hills are challenging. I enjoyed the trickle of brooks and streams as I walked along the country streets of Hope and Camden. The time with my parents was precious as well. We must never take for granted the time with loved ones. I did 9.04 miles in 2:19:59 for a 15:29 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 90 bpm and an average cadence of 129 spm with an elevation gain of 701 feet at 30 cloudy degrees.

Friday I did the Randall/Woodlot workout doing 9.18 miles in 2:22:23 for a 15:30 minute per mile pace with a 164 bpm average heart rate with an elevation gain of 212 feet with a cadence of 127 spm at 45 drizzly degrees in Ridge. I enjoy and have peace about being in New York— I just don’t feel like it is home even with my love Charlotte being here. I think 2022 could be the beginning of change. Thank you Lord that you are always with me.
