Going Slow but Still a Go

Logging Both Friday’s workout and today’s hike on the Greenway trail .  Yesterday I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Workout doing 8.6 miles in 2:02:07 for a 14:11 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 210 feet with a heart rate of 115 bpm at a nice temperature of 46 degrees and 73 percent humidity. Today I did 8 miles in 2:20:22  for a 17:32 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 589 feet with an average heart rate of 98 bpm at a very nice temp of 62 degrees and humidity at 53 percent. Lots of people out on The Greenway trail. I stopped and got my iced Italian Roast Clover coffee at Starbucks (on the go of course). Charlotte was at a bridal shower which afforded me the opportunity to hike. It’s been a food month for movement goals. Have a very blessed day!

Easy on the Rubber

I woke up this morning after a restful night’s sleep. It was just another morning, even though one never knows what will happen in a day. I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop making an effort not to run as my knees have been getting a little achy. I did 8.74 miles in 2:03:18 for a 14:08 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 189 feet and an average heart-rate of 111 at a temperature of 34 degrees and a very dry 29 percent humidity. The morning seemed cold compared to yesterday. I love this time of year. A time of hope and dreaming about a better future. Looking to you Lord!

Sagging More than Swagging

The motto the past three weeks has been “I can’t get out of my own way “. My energy has been slightly down, but thankfully I have been able to get the work in. Today I did the 3 times Woodlot Loop doing 8.86 miles in 2:00:15 for a 13:34 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 191 feet and an average heart rate of 120 bpm at 47 degrees and 55 percent humidity. Brookhaven/Connetquot

I went on a pre-church hike in Brookhaven and a post-church hike at Connetquot State Park with Char. Here are the stats- Brookhaven: 5.48 miles in 1:39:49 for an 18:12 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 165 feet and an average heart rate of 96 bpm at a temp of 36 degrees and 49 percent humidity. At Brookhaven there was a group of two couples and a dog. I think that they roughly did the same route as me just slower and shorter. Connetquot is just beautiful. Char and I ate lunch at Penera. Have a blessed evening.

Saturday in the Cool

I headed out early even though I was kind of tired. The cooler temps made for a walk of solitude. Charlotte did her father’s Weight Watchers which afforded me the time to get out. I strangely enough went through my morning routine smoothly which is great considering my late arrival and bedtime last night. Thankfully, I did ok. I did the Ridge Route doing 8.82 in 2:02:47 for a 13:54 minute per mile pace. I heard two owls on Ridge Road with one hooting in bass and the other hooting in a tenor tone. A Good Day

My daughter Rebekah’s Birthday was a good day. We had supper together last night with my three New York daughters and 3 New York grandchildren along with Jace and my wife. Char put together a wonderful meal and a good time. I brought my daughter Kim home after the party. Oh yeah, we also had Bekah’s boyfriend Danny. Rainy Sunday

Today was the day we spring ahead, and truthfully I felt pretty good. I could hear the pitter patter of ice pellets hitting the window before getting out of bed. I was pleased to see that the ground was still bare. I headed to Wertheim after spending time in the Word and with my wife. The rain started to pick up as my hike progressed. I did 7.38 miles in 2:11:48 for a 17:51 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 199 feet with an average heart rate of 96 bpm at a temp of 36 degrees and 89 percent humidity. I was behind schedule, but I made it to church with Ericka and Ryleigh. Watching Reckit Ralph now with Char and Ryleigh. God bless !

Moving Almost Grooving

I woke up after a sound night’s sleep following a long day yesterday. I was so glad that my daughter Ericka and granddaughter a Ryleigh came to Bible study last night. My daughters and I share a common history. Still seeking that place where acceptance rules and love flows freely. Grateful for what I have in the meantime. I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop doing 8.7 miles in 2:00:07 for a 13:48 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 209 feet with an average heart rate of 118 bpm  at a seasonally cool 20 degrees with a 46 percent humidity. More Time Means More Miles

I woke up at about the same time as usual, but thankfully I was able to lay in bed until 4:10. I then read my Bible and then slowly prepared myself for my adventure in the snow. The roads were in good shape— just lots of slush and standing water in places. There weren’t many cars out just lots of plow trucks. I did the Scenic Hills, Smith Road, Medford, and Kastal Loop for the first time in a long time. I did 9.41 miles in 2:15:37 for a 14:25 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 368 feet with an average heart rate of 116 bpm at a snowy temp of 33 degrees at 95 percent humidity. When I got home I shoveled out my house. Thankfully, I was able to do a couple of sets of bench presses before heading out the door. The commute to work was easy with so many cancellations and delays. It was a great start to the day! God Bless you!

Mixed Workout

I started out thinking the Greenway Trail might be passable even after the snow on Friday. I was so wrong. I walked a mile out hoping that the uneven frozen in places mix of ice and snow would improve. It didn’t— 7.5 miles in that those conditions would take too long. I decided to turn around and finish up at another location where the footing was good. I ended up going home and doing the Woodlot Loop twice and added the stats to the previous 2 miles on the Greenway trail. I did 8.18 miles in 1:59:50 for a 14:38 minutes per mile with an average heartrate of 113 bpm. at a temperature of 33 degrees and 81 percent humidity. Hoping a big storm actually hits tonight.

Another Snowy Morning

I did the same route that I started on Monday— The Woodlot Triple finish on the trail. This certainly wasn’t my fastest week, but I am grateful to get the work in. Cutting back that little bit on the distance has helped me so that I don’t feel as rushed. Here are my stats- 8.61 in 2:00:13 for a 13:57 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 172 feet with an average heart rate of 113 bpm at a snowy 27 degrees at 61 percent humidity. Looking forward to the weekend. Pick up my in-laws with Charlotte tonight. God Bless!
