Great Start

I was a bit discouraged at first, but as the day progresses I find that God is encouraging me. I did the Scenic Hills , Longwood, and Medford Loop doing 8.98 miles in 1:57:17 for a 13:03 minute per mile pace  with an elevation gain of 365 feet with an average heartrate of 120 bpm at a temperature of 44 degrees at 63 percent humidity with some showers scattered in there. Off to the math carnival. God Bless!

Friday Funday

I was heading up the road to do my usual figure 8 extra plus when I decided to do a different version of the Medford/Randall Loop. The goal is I was looking for an under 9 mile loop and a different loop. My mind went back to the spring that me and my friend Andy and I used to do different workouts each Friday to keep things fun. I ended up doing 8.73 miles in 1:53:20 for a 12:58 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 180 feet with a resting heartrate of 131 bpm at a comfortable 46 degrees at 92 percent humidity. This has been a good week of workouts with several workouts under 13 minutes per mile. Looking forward to the weekend! God Bless you all!

Nice Effort

I did the Scenic Hills, Longwood, Medford Loop doing 9.29 miles in 1:59:27 for a 12:51 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 115 bpm. I forgot to bring my phone with me so certain stats could not be ascertained.  I felt kind of upbeat and positive.  There was a fog hanging overhead, but the light started to shine through near the final third of my workout. This time of year it is most enjoyable to hear the birds singing their beautiful songs! Have a blessed day!

What is Good and What is Not

I woke up with a positive feeling this morning. I got dressed and had my coffee and was out the door at 4:18. I started out doing my “usual loop”, but when passing Woodlot I decided to keep going and do the Scenic Hills, Longwood, Medford Loop. I just needed a change today. The air was cool and the skies were clear.  I could just tell that my pace was decent by the feel of my feet on the pavement. I did 9.03 in 1:58:43 doing a 13:08 minute pace with an elevation gain of 341 feet with an average heartrate of 118 bpm at a temp of 35 degrees and 66 percent humidity. I made it to work in good time and had a nice talk with my dad as he is on spring break.
Back to my title. There are many good things in my life. I’m going to highlight my workouts(health), and work as two things that are giving me peace. I think at this point I may prefer work and workouts to home.  This has nothing to do with not loving my wife and family, but it does have to do with home being a physical place and not a home. We have people who live in the house, but cohabiting is about as far as it goes.  We are like the United Kingdom separate countries with separate interests yet we are under the same “flag”. There is communication, but no intimacy. We have strained tolerance, but no acceptance for each other. We have strained commitment, but not true love and understanding for each other. We are busy but the activity lacks true meaning.  I have better friends at work than at church. My relationship with my wife’s family has steadily gone down hill with every crisis that my family has dealt with and I know they blame me and my girls for my wife being unhappy. My daughters are struggling with issues, but don’t listen very well to me. I feel alone, bit I know that the Lord is with me even though my family is far away. I am looking to the Lord to use me and my family so that can receive the glory. Lord forgive me for my sin and renew my desire for holiness! Amen

Out the Door

I woke up after a not long , but restful night’s sleep. Last night I went to the Indian restaurant in East Setauket with my wife, Jace, in-laws, and Becky, Susanna, and Becky’s husband(name escapes me now). I ate bread, rice, and carrot pudding. I’m not one for spicy stuff. This morning I did my new usual loop doing 9.01 miles in 2:00:12 for an13:19 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 186 feet with an average pulse of 119 bpm at a temp of 42 degrees at 99 percent humidity with a few
minor showers. I’m so blessed to have the Lord in my life and to enjoy these morning workouts. No matter where I am during my morning workout there’s a feeling that I am always transported to the streets of Eastport and yesteryear and am able to vicariously revisit those past moments as I create my new moments. Have a most blessed day!

A Good Day

I would say that yesterday seemed like a day of breaking through a bit in regards to some family issues. I feel like I am beginning to understand certain things better praise God. This morning I got out just about on time and did my new standard loop again— it just seems to fit my mood now. I did 9 miles in 2:01:56 for a 13:32 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 194 feet and an average heartrate of 116 bpm at a temp of 36 degrees and 62 percent humidity.  I saw snowflakes last night mixed in with the rain just before I went to bed. Had a good talk with my dad this morning. Blessed to have my parents with me. Have a great day in Jesus!

Changing It Up

I starled out the day with the plan to do the figure 8 extra plus, but I changed it up mid-workout. Changing the things around is a great thing to do when you are feeling unmotivated. I was heading up Ridge Road when I decided to turn left onto Randall rather than turn right towards Raynor. The slight change seemed to suit me. Here are the final stats— 8.93 miles in 1:59:36 for a 13:23 with an elevation gain of 194 feet wirh an average heartrate of 123 bm at a terrific of 52 degrees at 69 percent humidity. Looking forward to the weekend. God Bless!!

Unexpected Good Workout

I have been feeling a little tired and lethargic, which this time of year historically seems to be the case. Today I was thrown off a bit when my wife woke up the same time as me. Anyway I made it out the door at 4:20. I had to take a couple of “pit stops” due to some stomach issues. I ran to make
up for the late start and the stops .  I did the Scenic Hills, Niewood, and Medford Loop doing
8.91 miles in 1:58:24 for a 13:16 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 344 feet with an average pulse of 120 bpm at a temp of 39 degrees and 90 percent humidity. I even made it to work on time after a set of bench presses. This week has gone by quickly. Went on a nice little hike at Prosser Pines last night with my wife. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday/Wednesday

I was sluggish on Tuesday and had a very sluggish morning.  This was the morning that my wife was in Eastport. Today I felt slightly more energized. I think the hill workout zapped my legs making Tuesday a slow day. Here are the stats for the Tuesday Randall Loop — 9.3 at a 14:20 minute per mile pace in around 2:09. My watch was playing up a bit. Today I did the figure 8 extra plus doing 8.94  in 2:00:15 for a 13:26 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain 171 with an average heartrate of 119 bpm with a temperature of 28 degrees at 93 percent humidity.  I brought Kim with me to Bible Study last night. It was fun having her come along. Nice sunny day here on Long Island. State testing today. Have a blessed day!

Bright and Early

I woke up at 3:45 hoping to get back in plenty of time to help my wife and daughter and grandson get out in time for the ferry and trip to Maine. I decided to do the warm-up, cool-down with 9 x .3 mile hill sprints on upper Raynor Road. Here are the final stats for the above workout—- 7.35 miles in 1:31:34 for a 12:27 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 344 feet with an average heartrate of 131 bpm at a temp of 31 degrees at a dry 46 percent humidity. My workout was all walking except for the 9 hill sprints with the warm-ups and recoveries all walking. Home in plenty of time. Good to be back at work after a great time with family. God is good!

Moving Better

The alarm went off at 4:49. The good thing with vacation is being able to take my time getting around. I read a couple of Bible passages before getting up. Much to pray about. I did the Medford/Randall Loop on this foggy drizzly morning. I did 9.26 miles in 2:03:32 for a 13:19 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 210 feet with an average pulse of 125 bpm. God in Perilous Times

I am doing my workouts thankfully, while dealing with issues that seam so incessant. Poor choices of loved ones always have a chain reaction that is destructive. I’m dealing with things that challenge to disrupt and destroy my family, but I serve an all-powerful God. My faith may waiver, but my God doesn’t. Today I woke up at the ssme time as Char since she had to church ake Jace to the city to catch a bus to his future college. I did the Ridge Road loop doing a slow 9.02 in 2:09:56 for a 14:23 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 193 feet with an average heartrate of 123 bpm at a temperature of 27 degrees and 100 percent humidity. The past two workouts have dragged, but I am happy to complete them. I am attempting to get caught up on my strength training. So glad to have Rebekah back home and to have Keon and Katie here. God Bless you!

A Day Late

Today is Monday April 2,2018 and yesterday was April fools day and today it snowed. For Long Island April snow is unusual.  When I went out it was snowing, but the roads were wet. As I progressed the roads changed from wet to snow covered. The snow once again built up in the hollow spot near the heal. It made for slow tredging the last couple of miles since I had to continually slide my feet to keep the snow from building up. I did the Scenic Hills, Niewood, Medford Loop doing 9.01 in 2:09:50 for a 14:24 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 374 feet with an average pulse of 122 bpm at a temperature of 35 degrees at 70 percent humidity. I did active rest workouts on Sunday and Monday to make up for missing last Thursday and Friday.  I did the Greenway trail from Port Jefferson to East Setauket on Saturday doing 7.51 in 2:02:39 for a 16:19 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 529 feet with an average pulse of 102 bpm at a terrific of 40 degrees and 48 percent humidity. I did the Wertheim trails in Mastic on Sunday doing 7.58 miles in 2:11:50 for a 17:22 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 98 feet with an average heartrate of 100 bpm at 44 degrees and 83 percent humidity. My objective was to get my acive movement goal for each day to make up for two days last week. I am blessed to get the workouts in and especially to have my grandson and daughter here in New York. Enjoying vacation— God Bless!
