Friday/Monday

Friday morning was a beautiful morning. It was different in that my father was at Pen Bay Medical Center being treated for Covid. At around mile 5 I received a phone call from my mother informing me that my father was moved in the middle of the night to Maine Medical in Portland. His condition continued to worsen resulting in him being placed on a ventilator. Thankfully, he is responding to the treatment— the rest is up to the Lord. Here are my Friday stats interrupted several times by phone calls—Ridge Road Loop— 9.25 miles in 2:16:19 for a 14:44 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 195 feet and an average heart rate of 96 bpm at 45 degrees and 92 percent humidity.

Monday— Ryleigh’s Loop doing 9.7 miles in 2:22:50 for a 14:43 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 212 feet with a heart rate of 96 bpm at 42 degrees and 87 percent humidity. Have a blessed day. Heavy wind and rain projected for today. God bless you!

Turkey Trott—Sort of

This morning I headed into a rainy windy early morning workout. Habit and not motivation gets me out the door. Every aspect seems to be in place minus that optimistic feeling. Life doesn’t always need a good feeling or even motivation— but it does need a commitment— got that. I did the same loop as the past two days. Trying to hit 9 and then not get too greedy after that. I did 9.15 in 2;18:11 for a 15:06 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 96 bpm with an elevation gain of 214 feet at 57 rainy degrees and 89 percent humidity. My dad was just taken to the emergency room because his Covid symptoms are getting worse. God you are our refuge! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Medford/Randall/Woodlot The Day Before Thanksgiving

I headed out the door without my phone as it hadn’t charged overnight.  I did 9.34 miles in 2:20:17 for a 15:01 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 94 bpm at a temp of 40 degrees. I wasn’t motivated, but I knew that I could finish. The ability to finish and complete things is something that should not ever be taken for granted. I am blessed. May God bless you on this beautiful Wednesday.

Following A Pattern?

I decided to do the Longwood Loop— just seemed like a good idea. On Sunday I did a loop around Ridge/Raynor and then I did the 3 plus loop at Brookhaven. I made my movement and exercise loops on both days.

Monday: 9.47  miles in 2:27:07 for an average heart rate of 96 bpm with an elevation gain of 416 feet for an average pace of 15:31 minutes per mile at 59 percent and 93 percent humidity. It rained and lightninged at times during the last 3 plus miles.

Monday:2.03 miles in 44:38 for an average of 20:27 minutes per mile with an elevation gain of 74 feet at 48 degrees and 50 percent humidity at the Randall game preserve. Both my parents have covid , but they are doing okay thankfully. Step son has an infection in his leg. Looking to the Lord. Thanks Lord!

Wednesday/Thursday Mid November

A beautiful but cold couple of mornings. I have been sticking to Ridge Road Loop. I have not incorporated any running since Monday as it aggravates my hip. Thankfully my blood pressure is under control. Thank God for modern medicine and His grace. God is good.

Wednesday- 9.15 miles in 2:17:29 for a 15:01 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 95 bpm with an elevation gain of 170 feet at a temperature of 33 degrees and 50 percent humidity.

Thursday- 9.09 miles in 2:14:47 for a 14:49 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 202 feet with an average heart rate of 104 bpm at 23 degrees and 79 percent humidity. A bright and beautiful morning. Steve from church is putting in out dishwasher now. Zoom class starting soon. May you know Christ and His power and peace in your life.

Monday/Tuesday

I’m back at remote learning for the next two weeks. Charlotte is still in PA attending to Jace.

Monday- The Longwood Loop. Dealing with a slight hip issue. Made the mistake of adding some running which aggravated the hip. I did 9.51 miles in 2:17:05 for a 14:24 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 98 bpm with an elevation gain of 344 feet at 49 degrees and 47 percent humidity. At night I did a stroll through the Randall Game Preserve doing 2.03 miles. Picked up a tick which had not lodged itself yet.

This morning I did the Randall/Woodlot Loop doing 9.15 miles in in 2:15:21 for a 14:47 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 91 bpm with an elevation gain of 199 feet at 35 degrees and 73 percentage humidity. Have a blessed day!

Two Hikes

I got out of bed after about 8 hours of sleep. When I am alone I try to keep busy. I decided that two hikes would be better and would keep me from feeling rushed in going to church. I did the longer single loop at Brookhaven just past 7 doing 5.48 miles in 1:43:16 for an 18:50 minute per mile pace with a 196 foot elevation gain and an 84 bpm heart rate at 32 degrees and 83 percent humidity. After church I did 3.48 miles in 1:12:20 for a 20:46 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 151 feet and an average heart rate of 75 bpm at 52 degrees and 61 percent humidity. I am so grateful for God’s grace and strength. I will be teaching remotely for the next two weeks thanks to two new student and two new teacher Covid cases. Have a blessed day!

Friday(Home)/Saturday (Brookhaven)

I headed out the door for another drizzly workout on Friday morning. I got up at roughly the same time, but I took a bit of extra time getting around. We had two coronavirus cases, so our school shut down to clean— which meant a day of remote teaching. I did the Longwood loop doing 9.62 miles in 2:21:32 for a 14:42 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 374 feet with an average heart rate of 95 bpm at a temperature of 47 degrees and 95 percent humidity.

Today I got out just a bit past 7 for a 8.61 mile hike through Brookhaven in 2:45:59 for a 19:16 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 290 feet with a 79 bpm heart rate at 42 sunny degrees and 75 percent humidity. It was nice to see the sun and to have decent weather. Hardly anyone was about this morning save a curious jogger and a couple of ladies on horses. There was a man with a big tired bike and a dog, a mother and daughter jogging team, and a solitary woods runner at the far end of the park. I am looking to the Lord for His continued providence. Amen!

Another Rainy Morning

I was amazed at the warm temperature and was pleased as a light rain was falling here in central Long Island. I did the Ridge Loop as it is encompassed by trees which partially shelter you from the rain. I did 8.98 miles in 2:12:21 for a 14:44 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 142 feet with an average heart rate of 97 bpm at 66 degrees and 92 percent humidity. Just heard that a teacher tested positive for the coronavirus on site. Not sure what the policy is, but here we are again. God bless you!

Walking like a Vet

I headed out the door about an hour or so later as today was an off day from school— recognizing our Vets. Jace is having an operation, Kim over with Ollie to do laundry. Busy sort of off day. I did the Ryleigh Loop—Woodlot/Randall Loop doing 9.72 miles in 2:24:12 for a 14:50 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 187 feet with an average heart rate of 93 bpm at 61 degrees and 90 percent humidity. Got some light rain at the tail end of the workout. I was admiring the beautiful bright fall colors on this seasonally warm morning. It was a good and blessed day with Kim’s boyfriend Eduardo having supper with us. A blessed day!

Decent Bounceback

I was not happy with the pace on the last couple of workouts. This morning I was surprised that my pace was faster because it felt slow. You never know how your body will respond on a given day. Today I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot loop for just over 9 miles. It’s surprising how the distance can vary depending on how you navigate the roads. I was pleased that the Patriots won — I don’t even care if it is the Jets.

I did 9.02 miles in 2:11:14 for a 14:32 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 97 bpm with an elevation gain of 207 feet at 54 degrees and 87 percent humidity. Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day. I am looking forward to a morning when I am not rushing.

I took the weekend off with the exception of a walk around the block on Saturday morning(3 plus miles). We had my granddaughters this weekend which was a blessing— I’m tired though:)— a good tired. I did the 3 loop workout doing 8.62 miles in 2:09:23 for a 15:00 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 108 bpm with an elevation gain of 176 feet at a temperature of 43 degrees and 89 percent humidity. I’m blessed ❤️ Thank you Jesus!!!

Good Friday

Not much was different about today, except things kind of just flowed in the right direction. I did the Ridge Loop as this workout avoided Route 25 the most as construction is taking place there. I did 8.87 miles in 2:08:24 for a 14:28 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 176 feet with an average cadence of 137 spm with an average heart rate of 98 bpm at 53 degrees and 92 percent humidity. Glad to have Char back home. Looking forward to a good weekend. May Christ be glorified.

Day After

I am grateful for good health. I am finding that after a time change I have a lot of excuses floating in my head not to work out or finish. The good thing is that habit usually gets me through. At the end of the day I am always glad to get the work in . I did the same 3 loops as Monday. Here are the stats—

8.65 miles in 2:10:29 for a 15:05 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 105 bpm with an elevation gain of 180 feet at 33 degrees and 74 percent humidity. I woke up a number of times last night to check on the election results. Have a blessed day!

Election Day Shuffle

I headed out a bit later than usual as I was working from home today. I didn’t go out with my usual urgency as I took advantage of the extra time. I did my spring time quarantine loop doing the Longwood Loop. I did 9.65 miles in 2:26:32 for a 15:10 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 96 bpm with an elevation gain of 420 feet at 42 degrees and 41 percent humidity. I was impressed with the long lines , lining up to vote. A beautiful fall morning. This is a time of reflection— looking for direction as I try to remain faithful to God’s calling on my life. Christ be glorified !

Slow and Unsteady

I got out a bit later than usual. I felt good, but I was much slower. I did enjoy having it light out. It allowed me to do the 3 times Woodlot with the third lap cutting across the trail. Char is in PA taking Jace to a doctor’s appointment. It was an overcast and breezy morning.

8.62 miles in 2:14:26 for a 15:35 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 96 bpm with a 231 foot elevation gain at a temperature of 40 degrees and 53 percent humidity. Have a blessed day! Thank the Lord!

2 Hikes on a Sunday Morning

I did the Randall Game Preserve Loop with an additional mile loop for 3 in the am and did the 5 miler plus at Brookhaven after church. Here is what it looks like:

Randall: 3.02 miles in 58:40 for a 19:25 mile mile pace with a 123 foot elevation gain with an average heart rate of 80 bpm at 40 degrees and 83 percent humidity.

Brookhaven: 5.81 miles in 1:53:42 for a 19:33 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 78 bpm with an elevation gain of 224 feet at a temperature of 55 degrees and 64 percent humidity. Strangely enough it started to rain lightly at the end of the walk. The walks were both so peaceful. Thank you Lord for your goodness.
