Sprint at the End

I started out tired and discouraged. I was very tired last  night and went to bed early.  I was completely spent after a long day fueled by 2 hours of sleep. To top it off I got in an argument with my wife.  I should work at not saying every that I know or feel. I decided to do the figure 8 extra plus as I got out a bit later. I did 8.7 miles in 1:58:37 for a 13:37 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 113 bpm.  I was on a 14 plus minute pace at the 8 mile mark, so I ran the rest of the way home to get me to work and back home on time. That last .7 miles helped propel me to a more respectable pace. Kind of tired, but Lord willing I will pull througj. God Bless!

A Quick Catch Up

I have had a great week with my daughter Katie and grandson Keon staying with me on Long Island. Today we went to the Bronx Zoo. I will miss them when they leave. Here are the basic stats. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I did a version of the Longwood loop which involves a stint up Scenic Hills and going on Niewood Road instead of Longwood. Monday- 9.43 miles Tuesday- 9.43 miles Wednesday-9.24 Thursday (Randall Road)-9.07 miles Friday(Ridge Road Loop)- 9.23. The weather has. Eem pleasant and comfortably mild.  I have not gone as fast and have enjoyed not being as rushed. That said, it has been a busy week-- but a good busy spent with the people that I love dearly. This has been as peaceful and quiet as I have gotten as we head home on the LIE. Tommy I will be heading to Maine and it will be great to see my Kimi, but it will be sad to see Katie and Keon leave.
Tonight it just feels great to have Ryleigh,Keon, Bekah, Katie, and Char with me. Lord lead ,direct, guide, and heal this family of mine. Have a blessed day!

I have felt harrassed by my principal and am afraid, which has me running to the Lord. Have a blessed day!

Valentines Day on Longwood

I got out at the same ole time ,but was moving along at a better clip.  The roads were more clear of ice which made for easier travel on the roads.  I was thinking of how much easier it is to get my workouts in hear in New York without those freezing temps day after day.  We got rid of our cable package and have gone to the basic packace with internet. To get our other channels we have gone to Hulu and Sling are which are internet TV packages. Should save a bunch of money.  I did 8.83 in 1:57:47 for a good 13:19 minute per mile pace and a 143 average heartrate.  Of to the salt mines-- thinking of my snow bound friends in Maine. God Bless!

A Return to the Regular

After a couple of unhurried mornings it was back to the regular grind.  I did the Randall Loop doing 9.01 miles in 2:04:41 for a 13:49 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 113 bpm.  The temp was mild , but the wind picked up creating some icy spots.  The sky had a canopy of low level clouds with the moon shining high and in the eastern sky.  Even though the bed feels good, their is a solitude that sets the tone for the day--it's an indescribable good feeling that I get.  Off to the paces, have a blessed day!

Unexpected Day Off

On Thursday night we received a call informing us that we had no school on Friday due to the time it would take for snow removal.  This allowed me to sleep in a bit(to 5:15) before I hit the roads.  I did the Ridge Loop due to the fact I could walk down the middle of the road due to the scant traffic.  The footing was very slick so my pace and time was very slow.  I ended up doing 9.19 miles in 2:19:58 for a 15:13 minute per mile pace and an average heartrate of 113 bpm.  DR. The scenery was beautiful with the snow covering the landscape.  A slow day was great and was what I needed, now I have to garner the courage to go through another week at RCA.  Seven years there and I still don't feel like I belong in spite of the great colleagues that I work with.  Have a blessed day!  God is good and powerful!

Wintry Workout

I headed out around 4:45 trying to beat the worst kf the storm. When I headed iut it was snowing but the roads were clear. My early pace was in the low 13's, but as the workout progressed and the snow mounted up the pace slowed considerably. Ie ended up doing 9.09 miles in 2:06:22 for a 13:53 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 119 bpm on the snowy Longwood Loop. Charlotte is down in the DR finishing the details of purchasing a new school for the church. Have a blessed day!

The Super Bowl Shuffle

I was jolted out of bed even though I am tired, because I am still on cloud nine after the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history--Patriots 34  Falcons 28.  I did the Longwood Loop in 1:58:03 for a 13:23 minute per mile pace for a distance of 8.81 miles and a heartrate of 120 bpm.  I sure wish I could go to the parade in Boston.  Have a blessed day all!

The Difference of a Day

The funny thing with any type of training is how from day to day how much your performance can differ.  With my bench presses of 230 pounds I was doing reps of 6 and 7--now I am doing 5's.  Some days I struggle to keep it under 14 minutes per mile(walking) , but today I was able to do 12:41 minutes per mile doing 8.98 in 1:54:00 with a 120 bpm pulse.  It was overcast today with the start to a sunrise near the end of the workout.  I had a good talk with my brother today--so glad that we have made it a point to talk every Thursday.  Off to the grind here at work.  God Bless you today as you do your thing!

Winter Wonderland

There was an inch or so of snow on the ground, just enough to make things look pretty.  I started the first couple of miles over 14 minutes per mile--but I picked it up as I strolled along the streets of Ridge.  I did 8.82 miles in 1:59:51 for a 13:34 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 114 bpm.  I was tired when I woke up, but as I progressed during my workout I felt stronger.  The clouds were low level and served as a canopy while directly overhead there were stars shining.  Well, off to work--God Bless!
