Making Up Time

This was one of those days where I hadn't already scheduled my daily assignment for my PE class.  This meant that I had to get back early.  When I checked my watch at mile 5, my already marginal pace was slowing down.  This meant that I would have to generate artificial speed by interspersing some running.  I ended up doing 9.41 miles in 2:17:14 for a 14:34 minute per mile pace with a 348 foot elevation gain and an average heart rate of 117 bpm at an overcast 38 degrees and 100 % humidity.  It was a mostly pleasant experience.  Still getting used to the new schedule.  God is good!

Bright

Finally, we had a morning of sunshine.  I love this time of day, because it pretty much marks the only time of the day that I am out and about.  I wasn't feeling great, but I wasn't feeling terrible either. I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop doing 9.3 miles in 2:19:17 for a 14: 58 minute per mile pace with a 119 bpm heart rate and an elevation gain of 330 feet.  I am striding easy making sure not to aggravate my complaints which now includes a little hamstring issue which has been happening for years.  If I stay in the "slowish" zone everything goes okay-- so that's where I'm staying.  I need these workouts and if I have to go a bit slower to keep it going pain free, then that's where I'll keep it. The remote working is a bit of a pain, but the view here is beautiful.  Have a blessed day!

Another Wet One

I headed out the door a little bit earlier than usual.  I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.51 miles in 2;21:17 for a 14:51 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 115 bpm at an elevation gain of 345 feet with the temp at 40 degrees and 93 percent humidity.  The drama of daughters--even when it's not bad, it's still a bit dramatic.  We have our new schedule today for remote school learning.  Adjustments , but at least I don't have that nasty commute. Have a blessed day!

On Friday I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.48 miles in 2:22:16 for a 15 minute per mile pace with a 386 foot elevation gain with an average heart rate of 113 bpm at a drizzly 44 degrees and 93 percent humidity.Today(Sunday) I did 9.64 miles in 2:49:15 for a 17:33 minute per mile pace with a 689 foot elevation gain and an average heartrate of 103 bpm at 47 degrees and a damp 66 percent humidity.  God is good!

Wednesday/Thursday

I had two good days of training.  No major complaints spare my right shoulder. I must have slept on it funny.  I took ibuprofen which seemed to help.  It gradually has been feeling better.  I did the Longwood loop today  doing 9.45 miles in 2:18:34 for a 14:40 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 363 feet and an average heart rate of 114 bpm at 32 degrees and 63 % humidity.  Yesterday I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop for 9.34 miles in 2:16:52 for a 14:38 minute per mile pace and an elevation gain of 363 feet with an average heart rate of 114 bpm at a temp of 36 degrees and 48 percent humidity.  It's been busy and stuff going on.  Thank you God for your strength and help!

Better Times

It was a bit of a sleepless night.  Stuff going on again.  The struggle that only you and the Lord know how you're feeling. I just took the time that I couldn't sleep and prayed to the Lord.  I did the Longwood Loop.  I did 9.48 miles in 2:16:06 for a 14:21 minute per mile pace with a 380 foot elevation gain and a 117 bpm heart rate at 42 degrees and 90 percent humidity.  It rained the last 2 miles. Today the Patriots traded Gronk to Tampa Bay for a fourth rounder.  They also gave up a seventh rounder.  Seems kind of cheap for the greatest tight end of all time.  We also had thunder and lightning, strong wind, and hail. Looking to you Lord in these crazy times.

Monday--Good Start

I headed out the door thankful to be out and around, yet feeling somewhat lost in the remote teaching.  I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop doing 9.42 miles in 2:20:13 for a 14:53 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 307 feet with a 122 bpm average heartrate at a cool feeling 49 degrees and 64 percent humidity.  I had two people a good distance ahead of me on Wading River Hollow Road and when they walked past Niewood that determined my route.  Doing the greater distance forces me to pay attention to my body and address the complaints usually with a minor adjustment.  Have a most blessed day!

Sunday Beautiful Morning

I headed out on a beautiful Sunday morning.  I wasn't exactly excited to be out there, but I kept going because I knew that I would be glad when I had completed the workout. I did 9.3 miles in 2:45:06 for a 17:44 minute per mile pace with a 214 foot elevation gain with a 104 bpm heart rate at a cool and sunny 35 degrees and 74 percent humidity.  I did Drew's stairs 4 times to add a little elevation.  My right foot was complaining a bit so I'm addressing that and keeping it under raps.  This afternoon did a bit of labor helping my neighbor with his fence. Praying for my family in this difficult time. Be blessed!

Not Quite

It was a beautiful cool spring morning.  I was listening to good music.  I felt pretty good, but I felt just off-- slightly irritated.I did the standard short loop plus to Apple Court and back. I did 9.48 miles in 2:14:12 for a 14:09 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 204 feet with a 119 bpm heart rate with a cool 32 degrees and 63 percent humidity.  I'm thankful that my complaints seemed to get better.  God is good!  Have a blessed day!

Cool & Cloudy

I woke up and immediately prayed.  I don't always respond in prayer so quickly, but the Lord is working on me.  The transition from comfortable bed to workout strangely enough happens without much thought.  I do enjoy the comfort of my bed and the good thoughts of the new opportunities that each day provides.  Equally enjoyable is the positive feeling I get as I roam about the streets in the early morning hour.  Today I did the Niewood version of the Longwood Loop which includes going on Whiskey Road instead of Kastal. I did 9.38 miles in 2;20:01 for a 14:55 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 338 feet and an average heart rate of 111 bpm at a temp of 46 degrees and 50% humidity. It's been a good week! God is in control!

Back At It

The title of course refers to being back to work. In a way the work gives me a sense of purpose in this time of quarantine.  I also like the fact that I have no commute and that I get to work out of the confines of my nice home.  The stress is in the forever changing nature or our remote teaching and the fact that I am a tech novice. I did the Longwood/Medford Loop once again doing 9.47 miles in 2:24:36 for a 15:16 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 376 feet and an average heart rate of 113 bpm at a temp of 42 degrees and a drizzly 79 percent humidity!  I was trying to move along without aggravating my complaints.  I think that I was successful in this.  I like this loop because it gets me near my move goal and it avoids people.  God is good!

Last Day

Today is my last day of vacation so to speak. Another productive lazy day. I’m taking down time alone with my wife to do some reading. God is using the reading to spark my faith praise God. Today I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.32 miles in 2:16:14 for a 14:37 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 166 feet with an average heart rate of 116 bpm at a temp of 46 degrees and 53 percent humidity.  The complaints held up pretty well today. I am grateful for that. I added 5 pounds on my hexbar deadlifts up to 295 pounds. I am looking expectantly to what the Lord is going to do.

Downpour

I started later waiting for the rain to lighten up. I realized that if I was going to get the workout in, that I would just have to get after it. I headed out the door seemingly up to the task. It was windy and mild— but not warm. I was strangely comfortable even though I was soaked. I did 9.57 miles in 2:27:48 for a 15:26 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 331 feet with an average heart rate of 112 bpm at a temperature of 54 degrees and 91 percent humidity. One more day of spring vacation. God bless!

Easter

I got up with my new Sunday schedule of getting out a bit early and doing the Calverton loop trail. I noticed a few little complaints in my medial potion of my right knee and my calves were a bit tight. I’m finding that my body can’t keep up with my stamina. I set a goal to lose five pounds. My goal is yo take a bit of stress off my joints to lessen the aches and pains. I need this working out to help me deal with this quarantine. Here are the stats- included a lot of pics and stretches- 9.3 miles in 2:41:38 for a 17:21 minute per mile pace with a 187 foot elevation gain and an average heart rate of 105 bpm at s temp of 32 degrees and 70 percent humidity. I did two up and down of the stairs in addition. At the end I linked up with our church on Facebook live. I’m blessed— Happy Easter!

Not Feeling the Best

Some days you hit the road and you feel very positive.  Other days you hit the road and you get the job done out of habit.  Today was one of those days.  I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.54 miles in 2:18:52 for a 14:33 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 323 feet and an average pulse of 116 bpm at a drizzly 49 degrees and 93 percent humidity.  This working from home is a challenge. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday, better Day

I did the Longwood version of yesterday's workout. I was feeling a bit better.  It was a beautiful sunny spring morning here I did 9.41 miles in 2:16:21 for a 14:29 minute per mile pace with a 342 foot elevation gain and an average heart rate of 119 bpm at a comfortable 46 degrees and 62 percent humidity.  I went back to the mouth covering respecting that this is our peak week of the coronavirus here on Long Island.  I had a nice walk in the woods with my wife last night.  Have a blessed day!

Monday Runs

I woke up and felt the effects of rotten milk creep through my excretory system.  I was able to muster enough gumption to hit the road.  I did the Niewood, Longwood, Medford, Ridge Loop doing 9.34 miles in 2:18:26 for a 14:48 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 305 feet with an average heart rate of 111 bpm at a temp of 45 degrees and humidity at 89 %.  I felt ok after a few changes in pace.  Blessed to get the work in.  This week is supposed to be the deadliest yet of the pandemic.  Staying away from the stores.  God keep my friends and family safe.

Sunday Stroll

I headed out a little early for my morning walk around Calverton to try to catch our church service. I did 9.25 miles in 2:28:55 for a 17:10 minute per mile pace with a 189 foot elevation gain. I went up Drews Tower twice along the way-I had an average pulse of 99 bpm at 44 degrees and 87 percent humidity.  I didn’t see many folks until near the very end. It was nice to hear from my brother this afternoon on my nephew Caleb’s birthday. Fighting the Coronavirus means staying at home. It gets difficult at times, but I am grateful for the opportunities that I have— like listening to my former pastors from Eastport Barry Blackstone and Dave Goupille. Watching Wrestlemania 35 now— revisiting wrestling until the virus is over:) God bless my friends!

Quiet and Rainy

I decided that my knee was up to the usual route so I headed out to Longwood.  I did 9.37 miles in 2:20:53 for a 15:01 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 115 bpm with an elevation gain of 365 feet at a temp of 42 degrees and 84% humidity. It was peaceful and I had a runner pass me going the other direction.  He's a good runner and I've noticed him running when I'm driving to work. I am just grateful for another COVID-19 free day.  God is good !  Have a blessed weekend.

Not So Fast

It was a beautiful spring morning.  The sun was shining and a cool refreshing breeze was blowing.  The only thing was that I was a little dehydrated.  My wife and I go for a 2-3 mile walk some evenings finding a local trail.  I failed to hydrate properly.  Today I did 9.33 miles in 2:21:11 for a 15:11 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 202 feet with an average heart rate of 115 bpm at a temp of 39 degrees and 68 percent humidity.Today is my second oldest granddaughter's 5 th birthday.  It will be a different kind of birthday this year, but at least she is healthy.  Have a blessed day!

New Route

I stayed with the plan of doing flatter routes until my right medial collateral issue is 100 %.  My knee was feeling better and the mood was improved on this bright cool April 1 morning.  I did 9.27 miles in 2:17:13 for a 14;48 minute per mile pace with a 193 foot elevation gain and an average heart rate of 120 bpm at a sunny 36 degrees and 76 percent humidity.  There were a lot of cars on Whiskey Road for some weird reason.  Ridge Road was thankfully quiet.  I enjoyed this route and am glad that my knee is responding positively.  Living the quarantined life is ok for now.  Thank you Lord for your protection!
