Over the Hill

I will be hitting the 50 year mark in a couple of weeks(Lord willing) ,but looking at other folks--it's not over the hill yet.  I woke up a little late, so I decided to do the hill repeat workout of 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with equal recovery.  All totaled 6.5 miles. Have a blessed day!

Better Day

I have enjoyed a good week of training with fewer stresses on my mind.  That to me is a great thing!  I started slowly and grew stronger as the workout progressed.  I think this is a result of the earlier start times.  I saw my friend Chuck a couple of times.  He has put in some very solid training.  His wife runs later in the morning and not quite as far.
I ended up doing 9.24 miles doing the figure 8 plus course.  Blessed in so many ways.  Next week I will have to head out earlier in the mornings with the students back in school.

Nice Early Run

I decided to do the Longwood Loop again this morning.  Sometimes I just like the "feel" of a particular root and run it extra.  Surprisingly I saw two other runners out each going the opposite direction.  One on Wading River Hollow Road and the other on the beginning of Smith's Road-- Chuck from my street.  I felt better and ran faster as the workout progressed. I like the way of doing mile 9 -- 3 fast telephone poles with one walk. The variety of this route is appealing especially the shorter harder bursts interspersed with walking-- that's the old track runner in me coming out.  All totaled 9.22 miles. God Bless You on this Day!

Monday/Tuesday Back at the Familiar Grind

It has been a stressful summer that always ends with me back in Long Island and some of my daughters back in Eastport.  Thankfully, my daughter Kaitland is back here on Long Island with me.  I started school yesterday, and I am glad to be back to work-- it was time.  God is working I know, and I am learning the tough lesson of trusting Him when things don't work out the way I think they should.
Well, yesterday I got out early and did the Longwood Loop at 9.44 miles.  I prefer the early hour with the streets all to myself.  I did the Randall Loop this morning.  On Randall at one point I felt myself just sauntering along in my own thoughts until I heard footsteps.  I turned and saw a lady running to catch up-well I picks my pace up in a hurry and didn't see or hear from her again.  I ended up with 9.02 miles.  I left a bit later as work start time was a half hour later- thankfully!

Taking it Easy-- Again

I woke up to what now seems like fall-like conditions at 59 degrees. I decided to take it easy again since I had been feeling really sore. It has been a summer of route PRs.  A very good summer of training. I will go to school a week from Monday. I am looking forward to seeing my colleagues again.  I did 9.23 on my standard loop.

Wednesday/Thursday

I woke up Wednesday morning to find that my cellar was flooded. A lot of work was put in to get the water out and clean things up. In the early afternoon I decided to try a hill repeat workout. I did 8 x .3 mile repeats with equal recocery.  All totaled I did 5.6 miles in humid afternoon conditions. I saw my friend Chuck running just after noon time--- inspiring me to get a workout in.  I did 9.3 this morning on the Longwood Loop.  I ran it easy in comfortable fall-like conditions. Have a blessed day!

Another Run in Maine

I got out just before 6 at my parents in Hope, Maine.  It was comfortable in the 60s and foggy. I did 8.09 miles on my standard workout. I got a chance to run up the steep hills of Hope. I saw the triathlete biking on Barnestown and a couple of lady walkers. Blessed to run in Maine again. God Bless

I am so glad to run my old routes. Nice cool run with temps in the low 50 s.  I saw a few deer wandering g about. I am so blessed to run in this place with so many memories. Love scampering up Adams Street hill.   The Dunp road was nice and quiet. Words can never express how I feel when I come back here and visit and run. Off for a walk with Char. God Bless!

PR Pendleton

Set out this morning just trying to get through a workout and ended up with a course PR. Plenty left in the tank, but that's the way I try to keep it.  Another super comfortable day.  Most likely my next workout will be in Eastport. God Bless!

Running Raynor

I got up after a good night's sleep and decided that hill repeats were what was needed. When I feel like getting the work in, in less time-- this is what I do. So 8 x .3 mile hill repeats. At one point I was chased by a retriever who was quite friendly.  All totaled it was 6.5 miles in comfortable conditions once again. Looking forward to going to Maine, although taking my daughters back is painful. God is good always!

Sleepless In Ridge

The week before my girls go back to Maine is always tough for me. I just couldn't sleep last night. I can remember 2 o clock and next it was 5:45am. I got up and worked 9.28 miles  into my morning. Good time of fellowship and Bible teaching last night at Genesis church. God is good!

Sore and Steady

I got out at a decent time with the temp at a comfortable 66 degrees. I changed up a familiar loop. I was doing fine until mile 6 and then my left knee and quad felt sore. I ran ok. Will ice it today. I have felt this soreness the last couple of weeks. Did 9.29 miles. Have a blessed day.

Pleased

I headed out in comfortable 63 degree conditions. I felt pretty good all the way through the workout. I saw fellow runner Chuck heading out on his workout. I got out early, but not too early.  The best thing is that it's another day having all of my daughters with me.  I have been fortunate to have family by my side and I have had a good summer of training carried over four different states. Wonder how my friend Andy Seeley is doing?
