Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri

Here are the mileages --8.72-8.73-8.70-8.71.  The paces ranged around 13:30 ish pace.  A lot going on this week including a missing daughter for over 24 hours.  The Lord saw her home despite her foolishness. God is good always. God Bless You!

Longwood/Medford the Monday before Christmas

Today is the second shortest day of the year.  I finally had a good night's sleep on Sunday night with the past two Sunday's featuring 2 hours or less of sleep.  I decided not to take my Mega Man Green's supplements as it contains a stimulant which on a non-workout day I think keeps me awake. I woke up late and got out at 4:37 am.  I did have a decent pace doing 8.58 miles in 1:52:50 for a 13:09 minute per mile walking pace. I was fortunate that even with the late start I managed to make up the time and keep to my usual schedule.  I am just grateful for a good start to the week. Have a blessed day--God is good!

Medford/Randall/Woodlot

I did 8.67 miles in 2:02:11on the Route listed above.  About 6 deer jumped the fence at Leisure Knoll on Whiskey Road.  I had a good night's sleep, but once again the bed felt oh so comfortable.  I rolled out of bed and downed the cup of Starbucks coffee that my wife bought me last night.  I was tired ,but not exhausted.  The workout was neither a drudgery nor a joy--but I am grateful to get the workout in.  My weight was at 194.2 which is down 5 or 6 pounds from the late summer months and early school year.  My wife, Kimi, Jace and I are headed to stay in the City tonight after work.  Have a blessed day my friend.

From Snoozer to Trainer

I did 8.68 miles in 2:00:29 seconds doing the Longwooe/Medford  Loop on a drizzly 48 degree morning.  I felt so comfortable in my bed/but the thoughts of how good I feel following the workout got me out of bed and into my workout cloths.  It has been a good week so far--looking to the Lord!
Have a blessed day!

Randall on a Wednesday

I went out at 4:18 and did 8.68 miles in 1:58:11 for a 13:41 minute per mile walking pace in 45 degree temps.I felt alright as I glided along the roads of Ridge under star-lit skies. I enjoy the Christmas lights this time of year.  I commit the day to the Lord as I pound the pavement--trusting Him with the many things going on in my life. I just always feel blessed when I workout in the early morning hours. God Bless You!

The New Old Standy Route

I did 8.66 miles in 2:00:17 for a 13:55 ish pace per mile.  I did the figure eight plus extra loop again.  Seems as if I do this loop often around Christmas as my standby workout.I got a decent night's sleep last night.  Praying that my wife and family feel better today from their colds.  Need direction and courage from the Lord--He always works and supplies.
Can't help but to think of the folks back in Eastport and Pleasant Point where I lived for 23 years. Far in distance, but always close to my heart.  God definitely has me here on Long Island at his time. Well, time to go --God Bless!

The Middle of the Night Workout

I had the typical Sunday night's poor sleep.  At 2:30 I just decided to get up and go and then go back to bed for what little sleep I could find.  I did the figure 8 extra loop seeing all the sights and sounds of 2:39 am.  I spooked a bunch of deer and even passed by a car with someone sleeping in the back--Oh, New York!  I did 8.5 miles in 1:50:25 for a 13:00 minute per mile walking pace--very respectable. The events in life keep happening , but so does God's provision.  Have a blessed day!

Medford/Randall/Woodlot

I got out at 4:22 am in 43 degree weather to do the Randall Loop.  It was a foggy morning and in spite of the 5 hour energy and coffee, I still just survived the workout.  Life is tiring me out right now. It was very foggy and gloomy.  I did 8.69 miles in 2:03:50 for a pedestrian 14:15 minute per mile pace.  Despite problems I am blessd and God Bless you!

Medford/Randall/Woodlot

I did 8.67 miles in 2:01:04 in balmy 55 degree temperatures.  My garmin was acting up a bit giving me an extra mile on my workout for some odd reason.  It was so dark again.  I am looking forward to gaining the daylight back.  Garmin watch is running on 9% so this will be a nervous day:). Have to wait until 7 to recharge. Have a blessed day!

Better Effort

It was a seasonable 32 degrees as I got out at 4:20 am on the Randall Extra Plus Workout.  It was another dark and quiet workout. I only heard a few deer rustling through the woods on Whiskey Road.  I felt somewhat refreshed after a decent night's sleep.  My initial feeling upon waking was to go back to bed--but habit takes control and I start my morning routine which fades away the desire to go to bed.  I did 8.65 miles in 1:59:20 for a 13:47 minute per mile walking pace.
I am feeling like things in life are better.  It has been a tough stretch, but the Lord has blessed me with good health.  It just seems that life is too busy right now.  Oh well, don't mean to complain.  Counting down the days until the Christmas break. May God Bless You. On a parting note--I am so glad that my daughter Kim is enjoying school here in Ridge. To Him be the glory!

Grandpa Games

I have been tired which has been reflected by my walking paces the last couple of weeks.  I did 8.62 miles in 2:04:21 for a 14:26 minute per mile walking pace.  It is so dark this time of year and the cloud cover this morning just added to it.  The Christmas lights definitely make the journey more pleasant.  A much better night's sleep.  God Bless !

Ditto Last Sunday Night

I had another terrible night's sleep last Sunday night.  I did get in a decent 8.68 mile workout in 2:01:41 for a 14:01 minutes per mile walking pace on the Randall Plus Extra loop.  I saw a runner scurrying along on Whiskey Road near Leisure Village.  Have a blessed day!

More Like It

I got out at 4:19 am and had a much better pace on this day.  I woke up in the middle of the night with my throat burning--think the orange juice irritated my stomach causing me to bring up stomach acid, an awful feeling.  My wife is stressed with the business of being home while I am 50 miles away all day at work. I feel bad because it just seems that we are so busy that our time together is suffering.  This said, I felt guilty heading out this morning.
I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot workout for 8.63 miles in 1:55:08 for a 13:20 per mile walking pace.  The workout is completely in the dark now with just a glimmer of light at the end.  Street lights make this workout possible.  Did a couple of sets of bench presses last night and a couple this morning.  Just need one set tonight.  Good news--Kim starts school next week.  Have a blessed day!

Tortoise

I got out at 4:21 am into a mild 52 degree start.  I did the Randall Plus extra for 8.68 miles in 2:06:31 for a pedestrian 14:35 minutes per mile pace. This is the week for just getting the work done with lower expectations.  There was a nice breeze that progressed during my workout.  I was thinking to myself that my routes here are pretty and quiet enough in the early morning hours.  I prefer the milder falls and winters here for sure.  The beauty of Eastport is unmatched though.  My thoughts of Eastport now with the struggles of my daughters and the seemingly greater negative influences is that I am glad to be here on Long Island.  My good thoughts of Eastport are all far in the past now and that's ok, because God is a God of the present.  Looking forward to the day--God Bless!

Walking in A Fog

I got out around 4:23 am in drizzle and fog.  I got home late as I had professional development and Bible study last night.  The result being --hurry, hurry and then bed time.  My times here in Ridge have been slow which is the way it goes sometimes.  This is three days in a row with the pace above 14 minutes per mile.  It just seems that I am a bit behind this week.  Oh well, I am blessed beyond measure.  I did 8.60 miles in 2:04:52 for 14:31 minutes per mile on the Longwood/Medford/Kastle loop.  45 degrees seemed warm this morning.  God Bless!

Catch Up

Here are the last five days of my training.  Thursday(11/26) 8.52 miles in 1:56:10 at a 13:39 pace, Friday--8.56 miles in 1:57:52 at 13:47 pace, Saturday--8.63 in 1:57:28 at a 13:37 pace, Monday(11/30) 8.63 in 2:03:05 at 14:16 pace, and Tuesday -- 8.62 in 2:03:20 at 14:18 pace.
I had good training in Maine as well as a good stay with my parents and daughters.  My grandson Keon is a true blessing and I enjoyed my time with him.  My new loop in Hope includes the Howe Hill road and is probably my favorite loop right now.  Lots going right now, but I am truly blessed.  Have a great day!

Sleepless in Ridge

It was another eventful night, with me being on my last nerve before I finally settled down into sleep at 2 am to awaken at 4 am.  If I get the rest on the weekend I can pull these short nights out, but it's not recommended.  It was 25 degrees which was the coolest morning here, but I felt fine.  I did the Randall extra plys for 8.71 miles in 2:00:18 for a 13:49 minute per mile walking pace.  I pretty much amazed myself to get this in--I get very anxious when I break my routine.  Heading to Maine tomorrow--seeking the Lord's guiding loving hand!

Cold and Clear

I was feeling sick yesterday with stiff muscles and a headache. Rest and Tylenol helped nurse me back to health., although I'm kind of more tired than usual today.  May have to go to bed early instead of watching the Patriots game tonight.  Praying for the Francis family today as well.  Tonight we get Kim in at Longwood(Lord willing).
It was windy and 39 degrees as I headed out the door doing the Medford/Randall/Woodlot loop.  The pace was alright considering yesterday I was fighting off sickness.  I did 8.65 miles in 1:58:02 for a 13:39 minutes per mile pace. Looking forward to seeing my parents although I wish that Char could come with me.  Have a blessed day!

Mild and ComfortableI

I went out on this mild morning feeling unsettled and a bit tired. When you have the feeling that you can't trust your own daughter it is an awful feeling that makes you feel empty and numb. You question everything that does not add up.  Looking to the Lord!
I was slow today with a long day yesterday and a short night.  I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot loop in 2:02:49 at a 14:14 minute per mile pace.  I think my tired body and broken heart slowed me down. God Bless!

Thursday, November 19, 2015

Mild and Quiet

I got out around 4:20 am doing the Randall Extra Plus Loop.  It was a mild 57 degrees on the streets of Ridge.  Unlike the past few Thursday's, I did not see anyone else out and around.  I felt good just not world beating at a 13:39 per mile walking pace.  Today will be a long day as I have parent/teacher conferences until 8 o'clock.  Things at the moment are a bit more settled which is a good feeling.  I just feel blessed every morning to be able to get the work in.  I did 8.68 miles in 1:58:32. God Bless!

Better Day

I had another surprise yesterday when one of my daughters went awol for around 90 minutes which is always unsettling.  We went to Longwood to set up Kim's high school schedule.  It was a nice introductory meeting ,but we have to meet again next Monday.  It seems as if everything is just taking so much time to happen.
On the workout front it was 34 degrees as I went on the Longwood/Medford/Kastle loop for 8.66 miles in 1:57:47 for a 13:36 minutes per mile walking pace.  I saw a rabbit on Longwood road by the tree farm.  I am just blessed to get the training in through the turmoil of life.  I had a good time at Bible study last night taking a look at the book of Mark.
My daughter Kim is spending the day with me at work today.  Have a blessed day!

Tuesday--The Good and the Bad

It started out a great day.  I got out at 4:20 am and did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot for 8.6 miles in 1:54:30 for a 13:19 minutes per mile walking pace. Now I find out my daughter has gone awol.  Praying --have a blessed day!

Monday, November 16, 2015

Cool Monday

I got out at 4:18 am in 43 degree temps.  The air was calm and quiet.  I did the Randall extra plus route.  I didn't see a soul, but the truck at RCF that always swerves towards me did it again.  I reminded the driver not to swerve when I directed some spit in his direction.  I don't know why some drivers choose to go after defenseless pedestrians.  I was not particularly fast with 8.68 miles in 1:58:55 for a 13:42 minutes per mile walking pace.  Anyway, I'm grateful that even though life has been challenging, God has given me the health and time to get the workouts in.  Have a blessed day!

Oh yeah, I saw Toby Mac on Friday night at MSG.  It was a great family time of entertainment and worship.

Medford/Ruth/Randall/Woodlot

I did roughly the same loop as yesterday.  I added Ruth Lane which takes me off Medford to Middle Country across from the gas station off Randall.  This makes this loop probably the least trafficked loop that I have.  There was nobody out this morning making for a beautiful start and was greeted by stars rather than clouds. The temp was 52 degrees ,but it felt milder.  I did 8.63 miles in 1:57:08 for a 13:34 min per mile walking pace.  I thought this was a good week of training and things in life seem to be looking up thanks to the guidance of the Lord.  Lord willing going to the Toby Mac, Britt Nicole, and Colton Dixon concert in the city tonight. Have a blessed weekend--God is good!

Wednesday/Thursday

Yesterday was a vacation day, but due to my wife having a minor procedure(she is fine) and restless children it was not a restful day.  My stats aren't as updated as usual as my watch and phone are not syncing properly right now.  I do know that I did 10.3 yesterday on the Longwood/Medford/Kastle plus Apple Court yesterday and 8.61 today on Medford/Randall/Woodlot.  Yesterday I saw a runner out on Randall or Shoreham and today I saw the same runner on Randall of Ridge.  I saw something big go down on Ridge Road as I saw 10 plus police, ambulance, and detective cars at one of the residences.  Today I met up with my good friend Arlem on Woodlot.  Looking forward to what the Lord has in store. God Bless!

Slower on Randall PLus Extra

It was a quiet 4:23 am and the temp was 52 degrees.  I just didn't have quick turnover today with the exception of mile 2.  The good news is that the rain held off for the entire workout.  I was just sort of in the moment, not the usual mind thinking about everything besides the workout.  Despite my effort the speed was just not there.  The long day yesterday took it's toll.  Good news is--church tonight.  I am filling in for my wife with the kids as she is on a cleanse right now and will be momentarily detained.  This was the rare day when I was thinking that I did not feel like going a little longer tomorrow on the holiday than my usual workouts.  Usually I am excited at the thought of doing a greater distance, but fatigue has a way of toning the excitement down. Have a blessed day! Did 8.69 in 1:58:44 for 13:40 per mile walking pace.

Monday, November 9, 2015

Nice Start

I got out the door at 4:22 am.  The temp was 34 and the air was still.  I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot loop for 8.6 miles in 1:52:12 for a 13:03 minute per mile walking pace.  I felt ok although the weekend was crazy and my sleep was less than optimal.  Yet, through the trials I am blessed.Have a blessed day!

Friday, November 6, 2015

A Good Finish

I did 8.68 miles in 1:57:57 for a 13:35 minute per mile walking pace.  The good finish has to do with a good week of training with the extra demands of my wife being gone. My wife is the engine that makes things run.  She does so much so well that it is easy to take her for granted.  I did the Randall Plus Extra loop which is different from the Medford/Randall?Woodlot loop.  The temp was 64 and it was foggy--so the workout was done in short-sleeves and shorts--and that in November.  The deer were snorting and rumbling about. I passed a couple of people early which seems so creepy as you don't expect to see others before 5 am.  Have a blessed day!

Thursday, November 5, 2015

A Bit Later

I headed out later art 4:24 since Jace was at his dad's.  I did the same loop as yesterday as I like the feel of it.  I did 8.59 miles in 1:53:37 for a slightly slower than yesterday 13:14 minute per mile walking pace.  I did a set of goblet squats so perhaps that is responsible for the slight lag in time. I am enjoying having my daughter Ericka and my granddaughters at my house for a couple of days.  I am so blessed. Two plus days until Charlotte comes home. Have a blessed day.

Better Day

My watch alarm got my attention once again at 3:50 am.  I was tired ,but the daily routine slowly brought me out of my stupor.  A nice coffee is always a great way to start the day.  I woke up in a more positive mood which was a great blessing.  I did 8.52 miles in 1:51:13 for a 13:03 walking pace. The pace did not seem too difficult as I did the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop.  I plugged my nose as I went by a house on the street that always reeks of weed.  It has been a good day so far.  Thank You Jesus for your strength!

Longing For

I got out this morning again at 4:10 am.  I did the Longwood/Medford/Kastal loop for 8.63 miles in 1:53:28 for a 13:09 per mile walking pace.  I wake up and it seems a bit strange to be sleeping all alone. I do miss my wife who is still in the DR doing a short-term mission project.  It was a 48 degree morning with lightening skies at the end.
I find that every morning I go to work with tears in my eyes.  The ravages of divorce, poor choices , and the storms of life have taken it's toll on my family.   Things are bad ,but it seems as if me and my wife alone are grieving at the sadness of it all.  Through the tears I know that my Jesus will come through for my hope is in Him.  Have a blessed day!

Batching It

Headed out at 4:10 to allow me more time to get things done before work .  My wife is on a missions trip in the DR this week.  Did 8.52 in 1:22:06 for a 13:31 per mile walking pace.  Nice to see some sun at the end of the workout. God Bless

Doing O.K.

I got out the door not really sure if I was tired or not.  Seems as if the challenges of parenting have been a bit on overdrive.  I did the old Randall Extra Plus loop for 8.53 miles in 1:56:45 for a 13:42 minutes per mile walking pace.  Friday has been a bit of a slower pace day for me in recent weeks.  Lots of dead raccoons lining the roads lately.  My wife heads to the DR early Sunday morning.  It looks like I will be having a challenging week:),  Have a blessed day--btw. beautiful cool clear fall morning here on Long Island.

Warm and Drizzly

I headed out the door at 4:30 am.  I found out last night that my daughters Kim and Ericka both have strep throat.  With the meds they both should be on the road to recovery. Praying now that nobody else gets sick.  I did the figure 8 plus extra for 8.5 miles in 1:51:02 for a 13:04 minute per mile walking pace.  The heavier rains of the night gave way to a light and warm light drizzle.  My first 5 mile splits were all fast ,but the last three miles were a bit slower.  I really just let up a bit, which I am fine with.  Life has been challenging.  I'm looking to the Lord for strength and direction.  God Bless!

Beating the Rain

I did the Medford/ Longwood Loop-- adding a bit extra distance at the beginning.  The pace was not as fast as yesterday, but it was a decent clip.  Rain in the forecast for the next 24 hours.  Being a parent has been a real challenge for the past few years.  I love my daughters--I just wish I had more answers.  Thankfully I have the Lord and His guidance.  Did 8.63 in 1:54:29 for a 13:16 pace per mile walking.

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Later but Better

I got out at 4:35 due to a tired body.  I decided to keep the route and the distance the same.  I decided not to look at my splits and just keep moving.  Turns out my pace was much faster than yesterday.  The moon was full with clouds partially concealing it.  I was just so glad that my quicker pace brought me back home at about the same time as yesterday. Have a blessed day!

In the Dark of the Morning

I had another horrible night's sleep.  I just couldn't wait until it was time for my morning workout.  Things are better, but I am just looking to the Lord for guidance. So many things that need some changing, but honestly God is the only one who can change these things.  I kept a consistent pace on the Randall Plus Extra for 8.55 miles at 1:55:54.
There are times when I get homesick for Maine, but I know that Long Island is the best for me and Kimberly right now. I am blessed with a nice house in a nice location. Have a blessed day!

Randall Revisited

I was in a good frame of mind this morning, thanks to a more settled life.  It was 55 degrees and the stars were out.  It was a very peaceful and quiet morning.  My pace was slower this morning, but I think that is because I was enjoying the morning workout.  I was pleased to see my weight at 195.2--first time in awhile that I have seen that weight. I did 8.53 in 1:58:38.  Pace was fairly consistent.  I am looking forward to the time change, this blackness is kind of depressing.
Looking forward to the weekend--have a blessed weekend!  God Bless You!!

The Old Randall Route Extra Plus

It was 53 degrees this Thursday morning.  I heard my daughter Kim stirring, getting a snack at 4 am.. I made sure she was ok , and headed out the door at 4:25 am.The pace was decent this morning doing 8.53 in 1:54:53 for 13:28 minutes per mile.  One pit-stop threw the pace off.  Overall, this has been a better week of life and training.  I am more relaxed not having to deal with any crises.  I attribute this to the power of God--to Him be the glory! Have a blessed day!

Another Good Day

I did the figure 8 extra plus route this morning.  i do this route when I want peace and quiet.  The mornings are so bleak and black.  I did 8.3 miles in 1:45:53 for a 12:45 minute per mile walking pace. Things have been lately on the home front.  God has given me strength when I have felt so inadequate.  I am grateful for being able to get out in the mornings.  The morning ritual has been a common practice now for twenty-one years.  I am so blessed!

Catch-Up

Last Week- Mon.-10.2  Tues-9.05  Wed.- 9.04  Thurs.- 8.44  Fri.--8.32, This week: Mon.--8.43 Tues.--8.13.  .   Life has been so busy lately.  Dealing with some hard family issues.  When children make poor choices and bad friends the results not only effect them they also effect the entire family.  Thanks to the Lord's help in directing me to resources and providing my wife and I with some wisdom.  We are continuing looking daily to Him for wisdom and strength and His direction and directing.
The workouts have been decent.  I am so grateful to have such a great outlet for the stresses of life. It is sometimes difficult to get the time to blog with my attention being needed in other places.
A mini-goal of mine is to get my weight in the lower 190's.  It has been steady at 200.  The last two days the weight has been 197 and 198 respectively.  197 is usually the high end, so I am trying to get the weight back down.  Have a blessed day.

Friday, October 9, 2015

Thursday/Friday

I did 8.43 yesterday on the Longwood/Medford/Kasal loop.  Felt good with pace just under 14 per minute miles.  Today I did 8.17 at a 14:08 clip per mile on the old Randall Loop Plus.  So peaceful and quiet. Looking forward to a good weekend. God Bless!

The Old Faithful

I got out at 4:24 am and decided to do my old usual route of the figure 8 plus for 8.31 miles in 1:52:22 for a 13:31 minute per mile walking pace.  I was definitely faster today and enjoyed the almost empty quiet feeling of the figure 8 plus loop.  I could hear a few deer rustling through the woods enjoying their moments of freedom before the bow hunters are unleashed for the day at sunrise.  I'm really noticing lately at how much better my knees and body feel since I made the switch to speed walking. In my early forties it seemed as if I could run forever--the body was feeling so strong and God knows the running helped me to deal with the enormous stress I had in my life.In my mid-forties I noticed a change basically where I could work out and feel good, then the rest of the day my joints would ache until the next workout.  This was a vicious cycle that I knew one day I would have to change, and I'm so glad that I did. Those were good days.  But, these too are good days.  I am blessed and the body and spirit are feeling good. God Bless you!

Monday/Tuesday--Welcome October

I did 8.44 and 8.43 miles respectively.  The shorts and short sleeves have given way to the light jacket and the sweat pants.  The workouts are done in the dark of the morning.  I relish working out this time of year int the chill of the morning.  I use this time to reflect, pray, and dream as I workout.  Working out is like an old friend that I meet in the morning.  Both workouts were done faster than 14 minute walking pace with Monday being around 13:40's and Tuesday being around 13:55's.  I'm praying that the drama of my family will begin to settle, looking to the Lord to whom I have committed my family.  Have a blessed day!

Wind and Rain To Finish the Week

I did 8.1 miles in 1:51:38.  The wind and rain smacked me in the face as I felt a chill heading up Raynor.  Things got better when I turned down Medford in the sheltered confines of tall overhanging trees.  I made it easily across the usually busy Middle Country.  Randall Road in Ridge and Randall in Shoreham provided quiet dimly lit streets to glide along deep in my thoughts.  On the home stretch Whiskey and Woodlot roads seemed almost like walking paths rather than roads, with most people staying home to avoid the inclement conditions.  When I headed down Raynor Road towards my home, I was grateful that I ventured out on a day when many just stayed in bed. Have a blessed day.

Catch-Up

Here is a long list of the workouts that I have not blogged: 8.3, 8.6, 8.6,8.3, 8.7, 8.4, 8.7, 9.1, 8.6, 8, 8.4, 9.4, 8.4, 8.2, 8.5, 8.2, 8.5, 9.1, 8.4, 8.3, 8.3, 8.5..  These workouts include workouts in Eastport, Hope, Robbinston, and Ridge.  Maine workouts are like visiting an old friend. Life has been hectic with some life events.  I will try to get back to the blog.  All workouts were recorded on Dailymile.  Life has just been so busy, but God has proven Himself faithful.  This is my favorite season to train in, with comfortable temps and beautiful scenery.  Looking forward to great things. God Bless

Cool and Comfortable

Still getting used to the early training. Waking up early even for an early start. I did the new Medford -Randall/Randall- Woodlot loop. I did 8.28 miles in 1:52:11. My pace was a bit slower today. Parts of the loop were so dark that I could barely see. The workout started when I saw a fallen star. Time for work. Have a blessed day!

Back to School

I was back to my old school routine of getting up just past four. I made it out the door at 4:27 am. I did my new route of Longwood, Smiths, Medford,Ridge, and Kasal to Raynor Roads. Seems the early start helped my pace pick up. I did 8.74 miles in 1:52:06. I had to dodge a few cars in the dark Wading River Hollow Road. It will be interesting to see how this year goes. I saw a runner out before 5 heading in the opposite direction. Have a blessed day!

Off to a new year of school tomorrow . I always get that nervous feeling the first day. I'm looking to God to lead me and my family. God bless,

Tuesday/Wednesday

I did 9.2 yesterday and 9.02 this morning.  Did Randall yesterday and the figure 8 today. When school starts will cut the mileage back to 8 miles as opposed to 9.  It has been a good summer and have worked out in some beautiful areas. Here the last three days has been very humid.  Looking forward to some cooler temps hopefully coming. Have a blessed Wednesday.

Last Day/First Day

On Friday I did 9.37 miles on my new favorite Eastort loop. I had some stomach issues which put me way behind on my pace, so I ran miles 6,7,8, and 9 at just under a 10 minute per mile pace. I had a productive stay in my most extended Eastport stay since moving to Long Island. I finished off my visit with a quick walk up to Lookout point at Shackford's Head.  I like the solitude and fond memories of days gone by as I walk this trail. After saying the sad goodbyes to my three youngest daughters and grandson I started the long trek back to Long Island.
This morning I did 9.04 miles on the Longwood extra plus loop in 1:59:31. The temp was warmer than New Hamshire and Maine, but it was comfortable. The skies of the early morning continued getting lighter. I passed several trucks at the end of the road ready  to bring fencing to various locations. I felt somewhat glad to return to my familiar routines even though I miss having my daughter Kimberly here with me. I am blessed that my wife realized that I had to help my daughters and graciously recommended that I take the extra two days to stay at Harris Point.  Lord willing I will return in about a month for another extended visit. Have a blessed day.

Way Behind Blogging Away from Home!

Wed- 8.43. Thurs-8.48 Fri.-8.91 Mon-8.44 Tues.-10.14, Weds.-9.3, Thurs.-9.37.  All of last week was in the White Mountains including the Dundee Ridge Route and The Town Hall Route. The Dundee Ridge was very hilly with the Town Hall road being flat. Monday was a new route in Hope, Maine and the rest of the workouts all in Eastport including a route up Redoubt Hill, Estes
Head, and Quoddy Village. It has been a busy time with my wife allowing me two extra days.  I have put my workouts on Daulymile. Last full day here-- have a blessed day.

Monday/Tuesday in the White Mountains

It is always good to get back in New England.  Family vacation means good times. We are staying outside of North Conway in Bartlett. I got out just before six each morning. Monday I did 8.15 in 1:39:37.  TodayI did 8.29 in 1:48:47.  Some flat spots with some insane hill climbs.  I certainly am feeling it on my hips and legs. I love the quiet atmosphere here in New Hampshire. These rural areas are where I feel the most at home.Love these getaways.  Our condo overlooks the mountains-- just love it! Have a blessed day!

Friday- 8.77 Monday- 8.15

I got my last workout in New York for about 10
Days on Friday. I did the figure 8 plus extra loop in 2:04 for 14:08 per mile. It was humid and uncomfortable. Today in mountainous Bartlett, New Hampshire I did 8.15 in 1:39:37 at a 12:13 per mile.  There was one insane hill that had my legs burning.   I had a runner at the end of the workout that passed me. He was running and I was speed walking. I couldn't maintain the pace, so I switched to running and blew by him to the finish. Good way to finish. Enjoying my time in New Hampshire. God Bless!

Humid

I got out around 5:30 am. It was mid seventies and humid. I started out doing 14 minute miles and then picked the pace up to average 13:39's doing 9.05 in 2:03:40. I did the Longwood plus extra loop.  I feel like I have a touch of a cold so I bought zinc lozenges .  Doing an extra strength session to cover for next week. My body is sore.   Hanging out with my granddaughter Ruby at the moment. Have a blessed day!

Slow and Steady

I got out this morning just before 6. It was a bit warm. I started out at 14 plus minute miles and eased into a faster, but not fast pace.  I did the Randall plus extra loop for 9.16 in2:07:04.  That's a pace just under 14 min per (walking) mile. I was satisfied , because I felt like I just didn't have it. Have a blessed day!

Wed-9.03 Thurs- 9.03 Fri.- 9.02 Mon.- 9.12 Tues.- 9.52

I'm just doing some quick catching up. Off time seems to be busy time. I've put a bit up on Dailymile, but I haven't blogged at all since last Tuesday. I've gotten in some good training-- sneaking a bit of extra mileage in. I've done the Longwood, Randall, and figure 8 loop for my workouts. We have had some hot weather, but early in the morning the temp is at least tolerable .  I've upped the intensity up slightly on my strength work-- integrating some concepts that my father recommended. Right now I am at Satellite auto glass waiting for my windshield to get fixed after a two mile extra walk along the boardwalk a very beautiful spot. Off to Bartlett , New Hampshire next week with my family. Have a blessed day!

Better Day

It was humid ,but only 74 degrees at 5 am.  I did 8.51 in 1:52:09.  I don't do so well in this humid weather. My pace suffers more from the humidity and heat more than from steep hills.  I like the fact that I'm not pressed for time.  I usually shower up and then lounge around a bit. My strength training has gone fairly well.  Thanks for reading-- God Bless You My Friend!

Hot Start

It was 5 o'clock and it was 79 degrees with 90 percent humidity.  I decided to do the figure 8 loop plus extra for 8.77 miles in a pedestrian 2:03:54. I do not do well in this type of weather. It took me half a day to somewhat recover. I took a water break 5.25 miles into the workout. It seemed to get me through. We are planning on going to the beach a bit later. Not putting much on Dailymile after workout after workout of no comment. I would rather put it here in my blog. Have a blessed day!

Fresh Friday

It was 57 and dry on the figure 8 plus extra.  I did 8.33 in 1:4534.  I felt pretty decent as I finish up another weeks training. Clear and beautiful here on Long Island. God Bless!

Thursday, July 16, 2015

Beautiful Day

I did the Longwood plus extra loop in1:48:53 for 8.32 miles on a 66 degree dry morning here on Long Island.  It was very comfortable. I saw several ladies from the fitness center jogging in the opposite direction--- they never speak-- so I said a loud "Morning".. and they even responded...wow.  I glided along the route with pines towering overhead.  I could put up with weather like this year round.  I even did the lawn following the workout .  Have a blessed day!

Back in the Humidity

I heard out at a late for me 6:30 am.  It was in the fifties and dry yesterday with today being 70 and humid. I did 8.34 on the Randall road in 1:49:36.  I felt decent , but it always feel a bit strange after a few days away from home. My daughter Kimi is here, but I find that it takes awhile for everybody to adjust to one another. I am blessed to have her here. Finished my strength up.  Enjoyed visiting my parents. My father sent me home with a 62 pound kettle bell. It was a very nice gift which I will use regularly. Have a blessed day!

Hope/Eastport

I went on my yearly trip to get my daughter(s) for the summer .  This is one of my favorite trips of the year.  This year only Kimberly is coming with me-- I am so blessed that Kim is coming with me!  On Monday, I got out with the temp in the high sixties on a beautiful morning. There were a few others out getting their workouts in.  I enjoy the beautiful scenery of streams, ponds, trees, and mountains.  I did 8.15 miles in 1:47:52. It wasn't my fastest time , but I as pleased with my effort on the steep hills.  This morning I got out a bit past 5 with the temps in the high 50's in Eastport, Maine. This was my first workout here doing my race walking workout. I did 10.06 miles in 2:11:52.  I always seem to get some extra distance in here in Eastport. I did the Adams Street loop plus my County Road, Dump Road, High Street , and Clark Street loop starting and ending at Harris Point. I saw my daughter and her boyfriend out walking on Key Street. I saw a few deer which seemed to be quite big here on the island. Now I am in Worcester , Mass heading to catch the ferry in New London to Orient Point on Long Island. I am blessed even in the trials of life! Have a blessed day!

Humid Being

I did 8.36 miles in  1:56:24 on the Longwood plus loop. It was 74 degrees and 91 percent humidity.  I just could not get moving. Speed walking seemed like moonwalking. This week the humidity has slowed me. I did see a couple of bucks and several rabbits.  Have a blessed day!

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

Monday/Tuesday

I did 8.6 yesterday at a 12:48 min per mile walking pace and 8.32 miles at a 12:49 minute per mile walking pace per mile.  I did the figure 8 plus extra yesterday and the Randall rout extra this morning .  It  was very humid this morning.  On dailymile ,  I haven't had a comment in like 15 sessions. Keeping the records here on my blog.  I have been busier than I thought this vacation. Tired and going to bed. God bless!

Wednesday -8.2 Thursday 8.31 Friday-8.17

Pocono Manor and Crescent Lodge were my two starting Points for my morning workouts in Pennsylvania.  Char and I arrived at a nice out of the way spot at Pocono Manor on Tuesday. The morning workout was foggy and overcast after a night of rain. I set a PR of 11:35 per mile on the back roads to Pocono Mountain.  Nice quiet workout.  this workout took place Wednesday morning.
On Thursday and Friday I did workouts on roads including Red Maple and Old Schoolhouse road.  Thursday's workout was overcast.  I decided to head the opposite direction of the busier roots. I just happened upon a nice secluded beautiful workout which included some challenging hills. I took a few wrong turns , but relied on my app to get back on track.
Friday's workout was basically the same route with one extra little hill. I took it easier this morning soaking in the beautiful backdrop for my workout. I saw a turkey heading up Red Maple. Going down the back side of the hill I was confronted with a skunk who was licking something in the road. I stood back and clapped my hands hoping to shoe him along. Finally , he backed up and headed into the woods.  I continued on on this cool upper 50 degree weather -- loved it!  I saw numerous deer with their beautiful reddish fur coats.  I hit the turnaround spot near some sort of big plant --away from the entrance.  I soaked in the beauty of this beautiful scenery for one more time before heading back to Long Island.  I'm in the car on the LIE(495) headed for home. Tonight my lovely wife and I will pick up our youth mission team at JFK. The average pace this morning was a leisurely 13:16 per mile pace. The steep hills still made it a quality workout. Have a blessed Fourth of July !

PR

I did 8.76 miles in 1:42:57 on my walk this morning on the figure 8 plus extra loop. I used the Spotify running app the metal version.  I find that if I start out fast the music is set fast-- and I tend to keep the pace trying to keep up with the music.  It was 66 degrees with just a smudging of humidity. Heading to the Poconos with Char on for our fifth anniversary on Thursday. Pennsylvania is my Maine away from Maine. Have a blessed day! Currently wife driving through the Bronx( she gets car sick and drives most of the time:))

Friday/Monday

I did the same route both days of the figure 8 plus- extra. I added a few inlets off from Apple Court to give a little extra distance. Today I did 8.62 miles in 1:45:53.  Friday I did 8.71 in 1:51:48.  Much quicker pace today.  I tried the workout app on the second loop for Spotify. I found this app helps you to maintain your tempo.  Both days were clear and comfortable. My wife and I will head to Pennsylvania to the Poconos tomorrow. Some workouts in the mountains of Pa. On the docket-- Lord willing.  Have a blessed day!

Cool Start

I did  8.09 in 1:38:55 on a walk on Randall Road this morning. The temp was 57 and dry and clear. It was a good pace, not under 12's but a good pace nonetheless .  I get our a bit past 5 now that I don't have to go to work.  I like the fact that I don't have to rush-- even. better, no breakneck commute.  So far this is a great start to the summer. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday/Wednesday Last Day/First Day

Yesterday. I did the figure 8 for the last time for this school year. I did 8.03 miles in 1:40:03 walking pace.  Today on my first day of vacation I did 8.66 in 1:44:50.  I started out doing the Randall Route, but a nature call brought me back towards the house and I finished up doing the Longwood Loop. It was a contrast in conditions-- yesterday hot and humid and today it was dry and 66. I can't believe that the school year has passed. 28 school years in the books. God Bless !

Monday, June 22, 2015

Friday/Monday

Two busy days for sure.  I did 8.03 on Randall on Friday in 1:38:17-- walking of course.  On Monday I did 7.51 in 1:34:20 after a late night getting back from a POD concert in Huntington.  Both workouts went well. The end of the school year is always so hectic .  A good weekend of strength training and time with family. Truly God is good. Have a blessed day!

Quiet on Longwood

I did 8.04 in 1:45:02 on the Longwood loop walking this morning.  I was almost in disbelief when my alarm went off this morning thinking how could the night have already passed away.  It was overcast and 57 degrees with just a touch of humidity. I felt decent , just not fast. I was a tad over 13 per mile, but I honestly just felt that I didn't have it so my speed didn't bother me.  Off to my parent's tomorrow at noon, leaving from work. Oh how this year has dragged on in school. God is good!

Ditto

I got out 5 minutes later at 4:35 am, but manage a workout almost the duplicate of yesterday at 8.09 miles taking 1:44:48 for a 12:57 per mile pace.  This is one second per mile faster than yesterday.  Just like yesterday I started out at a good pace and then kind of just bled time as the workout went on.  I did the figure 8 plus workout.  I went to a country concert last night with friend Chris Madden.  Not usually my cup of tea , but I appreciate the talent that the artist had.  The concert took place at the Brookhaven Amphitheatre on Bald Hill.  I was tired when I first got up and then kind of warmed into the workout.  Getting up early like I've had to, reminds me of the days when Andy Seeley would get up around 3 to get in his long runs when he was doing the Lydiard system of 100 mile weeks. Have a blessed day y'all.

Foggy and Sloggy

I'm cramming my upper body work into the early part of the week.  The result was a just under thirteen minute per mile pace. I did 8.1 on the Randall plus loop in 1:45 minutes.  It was 64 and foggy. A quiet morning on the roads of Ridge.  Lots running through my mind-- looking to Jesus to get me through. God Bless my friend!

Walking in the Rain

I woke up to a drizzly 66 degree morning. The drizzle soon turned I to pouring rain as I did the figure 8 plus route. There were places on the route where the water made it possible to proceed without getting my feet soaked.  I thought of cutting the workout short after 5.5 miles , but I decided that I could hang in there for another half hour of work.  I ended up doing 8.04 miles in 1:40:26. Not bad considering the conditions. God Bless-- good start to the week!

Humid on the Longwood Loop

I did 8.13 miles in 1:36:05 for an 11:48 per mile walking pace. Second best pace. Yesterday was a tough day. Thankfully today is a new day. Yesterday I did 8.02 miles in 1:36:51for a 12:03 pace-- walking. Times have been tough, looking to Jesus. Have a blessed day.

Flying Along

I finally put a good pace on the board walking 8.03 miles in 1:36:51.  I finally got a good night's sleep.  In some ways this has been a trying year for me-- I won't even get into why.  In other ways despite my failures and trials I find a peace that transcends the chaos.  I know that God's hand is on my life and I am so blessed.  I am glad that I have made the transition to walking.  It has been an adjustment , but it is for the best.  Pain free is good and is key to consistent training. Have a blessed day!

Walking Fast on Fumes

I got under 3 hours of sleep last night--just could not fall asleep.  So I got up at 4 anyway and hit the Randall Road route plus for 8.02 miles in 1:39:59.  I was pleased with the better pace.  I made it through the workout and the day fine--thank you Lord! I appreciated the change in route today. Going by the pond on Randall is always beautiful.  Lots of struggles now, have to look to the Lord to keep my moral up.  Have a blessed day!

I Feel Better When I Move

I have felt like staying in bed the last few weeks of training. This always happens, a stretch of training when only habit gets you out the door.  I got out at 4:27 after a cup of coffee.  I seemed too en up as I hit the street.  I was not super fast, but I was better than yesterday.  It was 64 degrees with a bit of wind and drizzle.  I did 8.02 on the figure 8 loop plus. I've been sticking to this loop to enjoy the peace and quiet. Well, back to work. God Bless!

Beautiful Day

My wife slept terribly last night, so I kind of joins her. She is not feeling well at all with a cough and stuffy nose.  I got out just past 4:30 and did a slow 13:35 per mile pace. I felt ok, just seems that the speed walking pace is gone for now. I had a busy but productive weekend taking my stepson on a fishing boat and then yard work. My wife and I had supper at Port Jeff last night. So, all said and done-- I won't worry that the speed walk pace is down. Life just gets hectic and the strengjt is gone. I did 8.1 miles. A trip to Maine to pick my daughter akin up on Saturday. Leaving to southern Maine , Friday night. I'm blessed and God bless You!

Friday, June 5, 2015

Heavy Legs

I got out at 4:30 this morning. A temp of 52 degrees with overcast skies. A nice quiet morning doing the figure 8 plus for 8.04 miles at a 13:23 per mile pace. Sunday's workout in Texas as an 11:47 per mile for 8.5 miles.  Just didn't have it. I did July the beauty of the day.  Lots to be thankful for and lots to pray about. Looking forward to the weekend. God Bless you all !

Can't Get Out of My Own Way

It felt like I was moving fast ,  but doing squats at nights makes for a slow walk. I did the Randall loop for 8.06 miles.  It was a cool 48 degrees and partly cloudy. All the travel and long work days makes for a slow walker. Maine two weeks ago and Texas this Sunday.  Lots on my mind , continuing to look to Him for guidance .

Wednesday, June 3, 2015

Sunday-Tues-Wed

I did 8.5 in Frisco Texas on Sunday. 8.2 on Tuesday in Ridge, and 8.02 on the Randall Road today. I had some problems getting into my account, but it is fixed for now. I will ad more later. Have a blessed day!

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Beautiful Morning

I got out just after 4:30 for a speed walk on the Randall Road. The birds were singing and the sun light crept into the early morning hours. I wasn't at the too of my game , but good enough for 8.12 miles at a 12:35 min. per mile pace on the Randall loop. Enjoyed the beauty as I glided along. A poor possum was stretched out on Whisky Road.  I also turned a box turtle over that was upside down. Have a blessed day all.

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Beautiful Monday!

I did the figure 8 plus route. I saw a rabbit and a few deer as I glided along.  Back in Ridge-- the fragrance from the tree buds was so nice.  I wasn't as fast as Sunday or Monday, but I did keep up a sub 12:25 pace per mile. It's always hard going home after spending good time with my girls. Looking to God! Have a blessed day-- 8.28 miles total

Sunday & Monday in Hope,Maine

My favorite times are times times that I spend with my daughters.  The effort of the long trip is always worth the time shared together.  I got up later on Sunday and still made it out the door and got in 8.16 miles at a 12:11 per mile pace. The temp was a cool 52 degrees. I was pleased that the a HS and pains from running on Friday had dissipated enough to get in a good crisp walk in the hilly beauty of Hope.  The good walk as followed by a good time at church and a great day with my girls. We walked the the breakwater in Rockland. My daughter Rebekah drove with Kimi and I along for a trip to Walmart.
This morning I did 8.18 miles on the same route as yesterday. I went at a 12:25 pace holding back a tiny bit. It's always a bitter day when I have to part ways with my daughters. The workout was pleasant at 55 degrees with a bit of humidity. I saw 3 turkey hens on the Seacoast road. I just feel so fortunate to have the health to workout. Here I sit at the ferry terminal waiting for the ferry to arrive. It's been a good 3 days, but time to head back to LI. May God bless you!

Mixing it Up Before a Long Trip

I had my wife telling me to go back to sleep, but I just couldn't. I know it's a long day ahead of me, but I'm just anal sometimes. I told my wife that I would be back by 6. I did the math and knew that I would have to run in order to complete the figure 8 loop.  I did the first loop doing under 10 minutes per mile. Mile 5 was 10:05. All my nagging injuries were whispering to me. The hamstring, the upper calf, the knee soreness.  I knew that the cardio power was there to continue, but the whispers were getting louder.  I decided to switch to the speed walk-- Good decision .  I did under 12 minutes for the last mile.  For me, walking is the way for me. I'm a walker now, which makes my body feel less pounded and worn down. Today was just a reminder of why I made the switch. I'm paying the price with the nagging of the old injuries, but tomorrow is an off day. So looking forward to seeing my daughters and grandson. Have a blessed day! Oh yeah, 6.62 miles in 1:08:47.

Thursday, May 21, 2015

Moving on a Thursday

I got out in decent time and decided to do the Longwood loop plus for 8.12 miles. I just felt good gliding along at a sub-12 minute per mile pace. The route had little traffic. Today making for a pleasant workout. Off to Hope, Maine tomorrow . Have a blessed day !

Comfortable and Clear at 55 Degrees

I was a bit tired, but force of habit got me out of bed and doing my pre-walk sit-ups. I did the figure 8  plus loop for 8.08 miles.  I was able to keep about the same pace as yesterday. Just wish that life wod slow down a bit. I am looking forward to seeing
my daughters, grandson, and parents on the weekend.  Workouts in Maine are also a treat. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Drizzle and Cool

I did 8.02 at a 12:45 walking pace. It's kind of like my arms move like I'm running and my legs move like they are walking.  I did the Randall Route this morning. Just about the same pace as yesterday. My workouts are going well. I'm so glad that The Lord have me the ability to workout-- it seems to be my constant even when life gets crazy. I'm looking forward to a couple of Maine workouts coming up. Have a blessed day!

Monday, May 18, 2015

Fog Again

I did 8.02 miles on the figure 8 loop plus. I had my second best time today. There was a slight mist and fog and the temp was 64 degrees. I felt fairly good gliding along the quiet streets of Ridge. I had to run .4 miles to make a rest stop. Walking now is a choice since I could run if I wanted. I just  believe that this is the wise choice. The pace that I am walking certainly seems to duplicate the effects of running. God Bless!

Cruising

I got out and it was a comfortable 55 degrees. It is nice having the sun rising early allowing most of
my workout to occur during sunlight.  I am walking now, but I am finding that on certain mornings that my pace is decent. I did 11:55 minute walking miles for 8 miles this morning.  I'm not trying necessarily to be fast, but if it happens I  will let it loose.  I did the Randall loop this morning to commemorate the route that I did on my oldest granddaughters birthday.  Many blessings ahead, He holds my hand. God Bless You!

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Wednesday/Thursday

I did 8.04 yesterday and 7.52 this morning. Lots of deer and turkey's out this morning again. Spring is beautiful. It was a cooler 48 degrees this morning. I must have been tired as I woke up at 4:40 and at 4:45 I as out the door.  I had a fast time going under 13 minutes a mile walking speed. I ended up being able to get all the ab work in. I am so blessed. Have a great day! Sorry I  can't write more.

Fuming

Lots of things on my mind and living in New York during deflate gate-- not fun. I got maybe 3 hours of sleep.  I did 8.03 with little sleep, a  mini miracle in itself. I ' blessed.

Monday, May 11, 2015

Saturday/Monday

I was glad to get in an 8.41 mile walk with my wife on a trail that goes from Port Jeff Station to East Setauket .  It was a comfortable day in the 60's with some drizzle and clouds. My wife has gotten herself in good shape and made the trip easily. We made a stop at Starbucks in East Setauket to get a respite from a rain shower. The company was great and the scenery was beautiful.
My wife and I also walked 3.38 miles in Mastic last night while my step-son did some fishing at Smith's Point.  Today, I got out at 4:30 and did 8.06 miles on my usual figure 8 plus loop.  My pace was at my two weeks ago pace and not my last week pace. I think the weekend walking and the three sets of squats last night may have slowed me a bit.  I have had a tough year in some ways. I find that the demands of living here on Long Island and all the adjustments just seem to stretch me. I am looking to The Lord for his help. Have a blessed day!

Friday, May 8, 2015

Foggy Friday

When I woke up I was tempted for a second to sleep in.  After
My cup of dark roast Starbucks coffee I was out the door and off. I did the same rout as yesterday for 8.09 miles. I saw one runner on Raynor as I hit the home stretch. Lots of deer
and turkey's about the woods of Ridge.  I find solace on the roads and in prayer. Have a blessed weekend!

Cool Again

It was a comfortable 45 degrees this morning. I had two thinner layers on top with shorts on my legs. There were many deer and turkey's lurking about this morning. Lots of people leave
feed out for the wildlife. My pace was under 14 minutes a mile walking pace. My knees haven't felt this good in a long time.  I had my second best 8 mile time which I did on the figure 8, Apple Court Loop with an extra . 6 miles headed towards route 25.  Making the transition from a runner to a walker has gone smoothly, thanks to my showing restraint. I'm blessed to get the mileage in! So much going on in my life, I'm thankful that The Lord has given me this outlet ! Have a blessed day! Oh yeah, 8.02 miles. Meeting my friend Lenny for supper tonight as our wives attend Bible Study.

Stupid Dogs

I was coasting along on my 8 miler Randall Loop when I hit the one spot on the loop that can. Relate problems-- that is the house on Kasal Road where the lady with the 2 German shepherds lets the dogs run lives . She had them out this morning so I just turned around and had to make up the distance somehow. I ended up doing 8.36 miles miles. The pace was slightly faster than Monday. I took Tuesday off thanks to a short night of sleep. My daughter's unruly BF and his mother decided to pick my grand kids up at 11:40 at night to which I declined to cooperate. The police were called and finally peace was restored when they took their sorry behinds back home.  It felt good to be out.  I ended up doing my strength work in yesterday so it wasn't a total wash. Bible Study was good last night. Have a blessed day!

Friday Revisited

I guess I didn't record Friday's workout. Well, it was a day when I stepped out the door and the legs just took over. I averaged  a 13:22 minute per mile walking pace. I just felt good and kept going. I felt good on this beautiful morning . My mood was light and so were my feet. All this was done on the Randall loop. It was a good day. God. Bless You!

Running on Fumes

I didn't sleep well last night.  I slept, just not soundly.  I got up at four and out the door at 4:24 am.  I started out at about the same pace as Friday, but I just kind of decided to back off my pace a bit-- still my second best time for the 8.02 mile Randall Road course.  Overall, I am happy with the workout. Have a blessed day!

I'm Always Tired Until My Feet....

hit the pavement .   I did the figure 8 plus Apple Court for 7.5.   I saw a raccoon on Apple Court. The birds were singing away their beautiful songs of the springtime.  I even heard the turkey's letting out a gobble or two.  The temp was a cool yet comfortable 48 degrees.   Near the end of my walk a lady passed me jogging. That was hard for me to take so I took off on a hard run to blow by her. I will walk to save my joints, but heck, it sure feels good to know that I still have it in me. Have a blessed day!

Nice Wednesday

I got out at 4:23 and did the Longwood Apple Court Loop for 7.53 miles. The pace was fairly consistent and felt ok.  Wading River Hollow Road has some speeding.cars , but other than that it wasn't bad out. I saw three deer cross the road on Smith Road. I just am blessed to have good health. Thank You Lord. Good time at Bible Study last night.

50 and Breezy

I did the Apple Court figure eight loop for 7.52 miles.  I did about the same pace as yesterday. This is the quietist loop that I do. No streams or ponds, but tall pines and oaks.  I got
in some  decent strength in when I got back. Tired now, Bible Study tonight. Have a blessed day!

Randall on a Monday

It was cloudy and 48 degrees this morning. I was going to do the usual figure 8   , but I decided to do the Randall loop because of how I felt and the 4:20 start time. When you hit this loop early there is almost no traffic at all. My mood was glum as I miss my daughters Kimi and Bekah who visited me last week and left yesterday. I ended up with 8.13 miles. Have a blessed day!

Cool and Sunny

I got out a bit later this Friday-- I took the day off from work to visit with Kimi and Bekah. Their cousin Lyndsey was spending the night. I did the Randall Loop at 8.02 miles just 16 seconds slower than yesterday. Beautiful , clear, and 38 degrees this morning. Have a blessed day!

Feeling Great at 8

I got out at 4:20 and did my 8.02 Randall loop. Just a beautiful morning at 41 degrees. The birds were singing the whole trip. Nice peaceful start to the day. God Bless!

Cool April Day

I got out a bit later thanks to a high fiber diet.  I did the Apple Court and back plus the Longwood loop for 7.54 miles. Beautiful 41 degree sunny start this morning. Nice night at Bible Study last night.   Slept well just not long. Calf and outer right knee feeling better than yesterday. Could' nt go as deep in my squats last night. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Whacked GPS

I did the usual Apple Court and figure 8 loop for 7.52 miles. My upper calf muscle was a bit temperamental after the bowling and squats last night.  I was able to manage though. My MapMy walk app was way off today. The route is consistently 7.5 plus-- so I went with it. It was mild and drizzly today. Have a blessed day!

Rainy Days and Mondays......

It was a drizzly 48 degrees this morning in Ridge. I got out in good fashion this morning .
I've got so many things on my mind, and I'm looking to The Lord for direction.  I've decided to become a walker rather than a runner.  I like the way my joints feel when I am walking--- no sore knees and ankles. My uncle has had both hips replaced and now he needs a knee replacement.  I don't want to wait until my joints are damaged before I make the switch. I'm a bigger runner, so I just feel that now is the time to make the switch. Nobody has commented in three weeks on daily mile -- it's kind of discouraging as I always make time for some comments. No biggie I guess. I did 7.52 miles at a good clip this morning-- God Bless!

Thursday/Friday

I'm writing this on the ferry out of New London to Orient Point, Long Island. I did the usual 7.53 loop in Ridge on Thursday. I had a strong pace going until my good friend Arlem met up with me. We caught up with family life.  It was nice bumping I to Arlem.   On Friday I did 7.66 in West Buxton. Maine. I have a nice loop that I do there along the Saco River. This is a fairly quiet loop. Lots of beautiful towering pine trees on this route. A workout in Maine is always a good thing. I was surprised that the temp felt like Long Island. There was some light rain the throughout the workout. I am blessed to have my daughter's Rebekah and Kimberly with me for the week. Katie and Keon are heading this way at the end of the week. I am blessed! God Bless You!

Fast Walk

I surprised myself by walking so quickly on the same route as yesterday for 7.53 miles. Beautiful spring day with almost nobody outside. Workouts going well this week,
Although other areas are a struggle. Thank you God for your many blessings!

Sleepless In Ridge

I slept good until 3:00am. Lots on my mind. I did Apple Court(full) and the figure 8.  I was able to get a little extra strength work too because of an earlier start. Total for the day was 7.51 miles. Bible study tonight- God Bless!

Monday, April 13, 2015

Longwood Strider

It was clear and 39 degrees on the Longwood Loop. Still walking, pace was decent this morning on my 7.51 mile loop. Have a blessed day!

Friday, April 10, 2015

Cold and Wet

I decided to change things up and I did the Longwood Loop plus to the Apple Court Turnaround and back.  The temp was 39 with a steady light rain which became a heavier rain as the workout progressed.  I ended up doing 7.44 miles. Wading River Hollow road was kind of busy with speeding cars on occasion. I am grateful that I can walk and get some good distance in even though I'm not ready to run.  Being willing to try new things allows you to maintain your workouts when you can't run. God is good   Have a blessed weekend!

Late Start No Problem

I woke up a bit late, but made it out the door in just over ten minutes.  I did the Figure 8 Loop plus Apple Court for 7.29 miles. The pace was a bit better than yesterday. I'm just glad that I got in the strength work following the workout.  The temp was 37 and the weather was drizzly.  I'm just blessed to have gotten the work in this morning after a later wake-up time.have a blessed day!

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Treading Water

I did the Kasal /Randall Loop again. I was even slower today than yesterday-- just didn't have it.  I tried running a couple of 200 meter segments-- but after a bit I could feel my upper calf tighten up. I will keep to the walking as I can do that without any pain.  It didn't matter the effort Injust could not keep a pace today walking . No dogs on Kasal made that part better. I am blessed to be able to workout. Have a blessed day!

Not as Fast Tuesday

I didn't sleep that great last night, so I think the extra 45 seconds per mile reflected that fact. I got out of the door a minute earlier than Monday, but after that it was a slight downhill swing. Splits were all a bit slower today with the exception of the last mile. At mile one two German shepherds came out at me. All I could do is try to keep both dogs in front of me. This caught me by surprise. I finished decent ally mixing in a couple of runs. There was some minor pain in the lower quad and the outer tendon of the knee. I did 8.04 on the Kasal / Randall loop. God Bless!!!

Great Start to the Week

Even though we are the only school on the island that is in session, this was a great start. I did my best Pace on the Kastle , Randall Loop which seems to be very conducive to fast paces.  I did 8.02 miles. I am still walking until my upper calf seems healed. I have had some mild tendinitis in my outer knees for years, the walking seems to be helping that as well. I am so blessed , now with a new granddaughter. Thank you Jesus!

Friday, April 3, 2015

Thurs/Friday

I did 7.2 yesterday on the usual Apple Court, Woodlot, Reverse Ridge Loop. Today I did 8.01 on Raynor- Kastal  to the Randall loop. On Thursday we found out that my daughter Ericka will be induced Friday morning . So this morning I saw her off before I headed out on the same main route that I did when my first granddaughter was Ryleigh as born. I've had some surprises this past year-- 3 unplanned grandchildren.  I would have hoped that the children could have been born within the context of marriage-- but I am learning to rest heavily on God's grace which I so desperately need. My grandchildren are precious and I pray for they and my daughters daily.  God is good and I am looking to Him once again to supply strength and grace that only He can supply!

Two in A Row

I did Apple Court, Woodlot, and reverse Ridge Road for 7.32 miles. A cool 34 degrees this morning. Nothing stirring. Did a decent walking pace two days in a row-- today a thank you to 5 hour energy. No school tomorrow. God Bless!!

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

Nice Going

I did 7.37 after changing up the order of my route. Very quiet workout. Nobody else out this morning. The paces was quicker today with a bit of a spring in my step. Very tired tonight as I pen this. Good Night and God Bless!

Monday, March 30, 2015

Treading Water

I did 7.22 on the typical loop of the figure 8 plus partial Apple Court.  I saw the dog walker for the first time in months walking the opposite direction on Woodlot. I had a few good miles , but a lot do mediocre miles for a mediocre time. My upper right calf is still tight at times, but it is ok when I wear the knee brace. I am blessed and am looking forward to the walks on Thursday and Friday with no school. God Bless a You!

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Thurs/Friday

I did 7.33 and 7.32 miles respectively.  I was slow on Thursday and slightly faster on Friday. I am still walking and will walk this week-- maybe longer.  I am satisfied right now with the results and the  change of pace. The weather was mild  oth days with the temp around 45.  I am grateful just to be able to train.  I haven't been afraid to change it up whether it be running, walking and running, hill repeats, walking, or biking. I'm blessed. God Bless You

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Faster

For some unknown reason, I was about 50 seconds per mile faster than yesterday. The temp was a cool feeling 25 degrees. I'm loving my figure 8 plus partial Apple Court{turning around at Gingham}. The loop is quiet and traffic free except for th rooster that always crows on Lower Ridge Road. I did 7.28 miles-- walking. Have a great and blessed day!

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Slower

The  conditions and start time were about he same as yesterday. The effort on the workout was the same, but the pace was about 35 to 40 seconds lower per mile. I saw the man with the dogs, he too was walking instead of running. I wonder if he is hurt or if he is just working back into shape. I did the same loop a distance of 7.22 miles. I feel blessed to get the work in. Bench Presses and Chins all finished. God Bless You!

Monday, March 23, 2015

Cold and Chilly

I was surprised when I woke up to see the temp at 20 degrees with a wind chill in the single numbers.  I'm still walking -- after briefly testing it out running. I think I will stick with the walking for two more weeks. Pain free consistency is better than painfully forcing the issue. I did the figure eight plus most of Apple Court(turning at Gingham).  I felt good and enjoyed the peace of the morning on this nice quiet loop-- all totaled 7.28 miles. I'm just feeling blessed to be back on the streets. I can walk and do squats without pain. Okay God richly bless you today!

Back Home

I got out the door at 4:28 at 28 degrees. Snow is on the way later today!  I did the figure 8 plus part of Apple Court for 7.38 miles.  The streets were quiet as I glided along.  I heard an owl and saw several deer. No dodging ice, snow, and four wheel drive vehicle in the  old today-- but the truth is, I sure do miss that place-- especially my daughters and grandson. I really enjoyed getting three workouts in Maine in this week. God is so good!

Blessed and Cold in a Machias , Maine

I was blessed to be there at Downeast Community Hospital when my grandson Keon was born. My daughter Bekah spent the night with me at the Machias Motor Inn. I woke up after an iffy night's sleep. I checked, the temp was 8 with a wind hill  below zero-- but I decided that it would feel good to stretch my legs on the Marshfield loop.  The footing was a mixed of bare, icy , and crusty snow. For the most part I maintained a decent pace while dodging the questionable footing and all the commuters.  I saw a bunch of deer crossing a road that I added onto the loop off from the upper part of the loop. It was a hilly yet scenic ascension . I managed to make it back unscathed to the Motor in. The loop plus amounted to 7.06 miles according to MapMyWalk. So blessed!

Loop in a Blizzard

I was staying at the Margaretta Motel in Machias and I decided to venture out into the snowy blowing conditions. I did the race loop plus the trip to the motel and extra distance in town for 7.29 miles. One step in front of another while dodging four wheel drive joy riders and I finished the loop. One fall which fortunately ended up being harmless. This seemed on the verge of foolish , but after being cooped up I decided (maybe foolishly) to get the work in. So blessed have a great day!

Back at it!-- Monday and Tuesday

I started my program back up doing only walking. My goal is consistent injury free training.  Monday saw me doing 6.47 miles on the figure 8 Loop. It felt good to get out there without pain. I was not sure how it would go, but fortunately it went well. I will stick with walking until I feel confident running. I do not want to aggravate anything and reverse the positive direction that I have been heading in thankfully. Tuesday I worked out in West Buxton and did 6.07 miles. Here in Maine it is all snow. The roads were dark as I glided a along the street along the River. This was a fly by visit. Tomorrow I hope to get the work in in yet another town. Hopefully Katie has her baby soon here in Machias. Have a blessed day!

Another Week

After a week off , I have determined that another week is in order for rest. On the positive, the calf, the hamstring, and the ankle are all doing better.  The upper calf and outer right knee are improving ,but are not ready for any type of working out at this point. Me attempting to walk in the slush last week was foolhardy and set me back.  I am gratefully that I can strength train. I've added sit-ups in the morning to give me something to do that does not aggravate my injuries.
I am hopefully that with another week off that I should be able to start walking next week. Then as time progresses I can add some running to the walking-- and as time progresses-- I should be able to get back to the usual. Patience, progression, rest, and time with help from The Lord should get me back on track to my usual training.  I've been blessed to have a good period of injury free training . I'm so grateful for strength and health. Have a blessed day!

Time for Some Time Off

I tried walking after a weekend of icing. I had a bad feeling about trying as the roads were horrible and soupy.  One misstep and the soreness in my right leg would start.  My right upper calf, hamstring, outer knee, and ankle are all not up to par.  I tried 3.1, which looking back actually set me back.  Everything is back to not super.  The plan is to take a week off from walking / running doing just my strength work.  I will try doing sit-ups in the morning to replace my running. Will utilize this time more for prayer. Will mainly just try to get healthy. Will then try walking next Monday-- Lord willing.  God has a way of working all things to His will, so I will try to not be anxious and just feel better.have a blessed week. I will try blogging again next Monday. God Bless!

Thursday/Friday

Thursday was a mild day at 24 degrees.  I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 6.2 miles.  Today the temp was 16 degrees.  I was scheduled to do 9 x .3 mile hill repeats again-- but, on rep 4 my right outer knee tightened up.  I did all my leg strength work the last two nights, so I think that and the facts that I've been battling several minor issues with my right leg, added up to this.  I continued my workout walking doing three more walking repeats plus extra walking for a total of 5.2 miles.  I basically kept walking until it was time to get ready for work.  I'm hopeful that with ice and ibuprofen that I will be back on Monday.  I like having the two days off for the week to help with recovery. In this case, recovery from minor injuries. God Bless

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

Tuesday/ Wednesday

I got out yesterday and did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool - down with equal recovery for 6. 2 miles. It was a cool one degree.  Today I did the figure 8 with one extended Apple Court for 7.2 miles at a balmy 18 degrees.  The work days have been long and tiring giving me less zip in my workouts. Still very blessed-- have a great day!

Monday, February 23, 2015

Monday Skate

I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 6.2 miles.  When I headed out the door I thought that I was in danger of not getting much of a workout in with the very icy refrozen roads.  I was fortunate that my hill repeat course was good enough that I could get my work in-- I just had to slow down a bit as even this course was a bit slick. Just blessed to get the work in! Have a great day.

Saturday, February 21, 2015

Thurs/ Saturday

I did 9.1 on Thursday consisting of the figure 8 plus 2 x rt 25 and back plus Apple Court. Today I did 7.2 consisting of the figure 8 plus Apple Court.  It was 3 degrees on Thursday and Zero today. I felt every layer today-- boy was today a chore. Last full day with all my girls( minus Katie:().  Blessed to get he work in and blessed to have my daughters with me.

3 Shades of Cold

I got out at 6:50 am., a late start for me.  It was 3 degrees at the beginning of my workout and 5 degrees at the end.  I did. 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 7.8 miles.  It was beautiful and sunny despite the cold temperature.  There was a bit of snow on the roads mixd with the bare pavement .  I know the speed wasn't there, but I was glad just to get the work in.  Enjoying time with my daughters. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Snowy Morning, Again

I did the figure 8 plus 2 x 25 and backe and one Apple Court.  I did not enjoy trudging through the slippery slush and snow on the roads of Ridge. Felt uninspired , but with the Lord's help I made it through. Did 9.1 this morning. Have a blessed day!

Staying Warm on A Freezing Day in Maine

I woke up half determined to get a workout in on a freezing snow swirling day in Hope , Maine.  I woke up and got a cup of coffee and went back to my room hoping that inspiration would hit me.  The inspiration never hit, but I decided to forego the outside and head to my father's Schwinn Aerodyne exercise bike.   I felt totally uninspired , but knew that I could persevere and get the mindless work in.  I  punted down every five minute interval-- I did a total of 96 minutes.  I was pleased to get my strength work I. This weekend at my parents despite a desire to do nothing.  I was reassured that I made the right decision to bike when I looked out the window on my bike and noticed the snow racing across the field in my parent's back yard.  I'm on the ferry now with my two youngest daughters Kimberly and Rebekah. God is so good! Have a blessed day!

Catching Up

I did 7.1(9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery )on Wednesday. Mon-7.1 & Tues. 7.1

I starts both days doing 9 x .3 mile repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 7.1 miles .  On Monday there was a steady light freezing rain , fortunately the roads had been salted so the footing was decent. Arrived home to find that school had been cancelled -- and on my wife's birthday.  On Tuesday it was light freezing drizzle which didn't impede the workout at all. So blessed to get the rest in!

Friday, February 6, 2015

Cold Times

I got up late, which is when I usually head out and do the figure 8 loop for 6.47 miles. It was 10 degrees and very still and quiet as I glided along the streets of Ridge. The hamstring is getting stronger. It's  been a good week. God Bless!

Thursday, February 5, 2015

Mild Repeats

I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery. I have had a bit of a right hamstring issue which today felt a bit better. I just tried to stay within my limits . Temps in the low 30s. I'm blessed!

Little blogging.  The Patriots win the Super Bowl .  Life and it's challenges , yet it's still going on. Steady-- remaining consistent even when life throws a few curve balls.  I have been doing children's church for the past 5 weeks.  I can't even begin to describe the challenges and circumstances in my life right now.   Charlotte is having painting done .  She and Jace are going back and forth as to changes they want to see done downstairs.  Conflicts abound mixed in with bouts of bliss , never knowing when it's going to be one or the other.   God , I need your help.

Thursday/Friday

I didn't even realize that I forgot to blog for two days. Thursday and Friday were both similar days-- 25 degrees with starry skies.   I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 6.2 miles.  I've cut back a bit on my warm-up distance to cut back on my volume.  If I feel like I need a bit of a break I cut back in one way or another.
The last couple years have been trying years in many ways.  I seem to have more questions than answers.  My confidence and hope are in The Lord. I'm not saying that I have things down where my attitude and actions are right, but my Hope is in The Lord .  I trust him with my marriage and my family .  Have a blessed day!

Longwood On an Icy Morning

I got out a bit later this MLK day. I quickly noticed that the roads were coated with black ice. My friend Arlem was nervously skating around Raynor Road. I changed my original route from the figure eight to the Longwood Loop. Ended up with exactly 9 miles at an averag pace. Have a blessed day!

Sleepy Head

When I woke up I was surprised to see that it was after 5 am- late by my standards. I thought for a minute about skipping the workout-- then I just decided to get up and get out the door. I'm really glad that I ran. I decided to forego the intervals and just do a conventional run.  I did the figure 8 loop which includes Ridge, Raynor, and Woodlot Roads which all connect Middle Country Road to Whiskey Road.  I enjoyed the run, probably my favorite loop around home because it is always peaceful and quiet.  I ended up doing 6.51 miles on this comfortable 30 degree day. Not a single person was out on foot. I used the MapMy Run app omy phone to measure the distance. Have a blessed day all!

Thursday, January 15, 2015

Feeling Ok

I got out the door a few minutes later today-- just a bit slow and tired.  I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 6.4 miles.  The temp was 27 on a still and quiet Thursday morning.  Lots of things running through my mind-- dear Lord, looking to you! Have a blessed day!

Hump Day

I like Wednesday's because it puts me over the half-way point of my weeks workouts. I finally had a good night's sleep last night.  I woke up, had my coffe, got my running gear on,prayed, and headed out the door for my workout. It was 23 degrees. I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery.  The time seemed to go by quicker with the feeling of a good night's sleep behind me. I did 6.2 miles.  The thing with intervals, is that I just have to focus, relax, and focus.  I enjoy my quiet strip on the road where I do my intervals. I haven't seen anybody on foot in days.
Last night Bible Study went very well. I feel blessed to be part of such a wonderful church that reaches out to those in need. Have a blessed day!

A Good Start

I had a little trouble again falling asleep last night.  My family and each person's personal crises wears on a dad/husband.  I woke up at my usual time, had my Starbucks and went out the door.  The temp was right around freezing.  The skies were clearing up with a gentle cool breeze out of the north whistling through the trees.  I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 6.2 miles.  Th reduced mileage is feeling good on the body.  Looking forward to Bible Study tonight. Let's see how God is going to work.

Back in Time

I had a good week of training last week.  When I woke up Saturday morning , I felt tired and a bit out of it as I headed to the men's church breakfast.  By noon , I was feeling really tired and cold.  I took 2 Tylenol and went out with the family for pizza and the outlets.  After that I knew I was sick and just payed down all day.  I payed in bed as the family want to church. The night before I felt like my legs were burning under the sheets.  By mid-afternoon I had periods of feeling back to normal. At night I as feeling sick again.  When I went to bed  I suddenly knew that I was back to normal. So this morning I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 6.2 miles. Will probably cut back on the mileage a bit this week to recover fully. I just feel blessed to feel good again-- gratefully, not missing any workouts in the schedule.

A Last Minute Change

I woke up just kind of dreading the repeats, so I decided to do the Longwood Loop.  I could hear the wind whistling through the trees as I turned down Wading River Hollow Road.  I just took it kind of easy, and enjoyed the workout.  Thinking a lot about my daughter Katie breaking off all communication with me.  Breaks my heart.  Well, the distance for the day is 9.1 miles. Turned out to be a good week of training. Have a blessed weekend. By the way, it was very dark out today even with the street lights-- ran slower to avoid stepping in a pot hole.

Reminiscing

It was 9 degrees this morning as I headed out 4:41 for my 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery.  Today reminded me of a workout years ago with my friend Andy Seeley where we did hill repeats-- taking time in the middle to drink tea and warm up in Andy's car at the bottom of the hill on Washington Street. Today was just a solitary workout. All totaled 7.1 miles on a very cold day for Long Islanders. When I only have to brave the elements of the freezing cold it is a fun challenge as opposed building up the fortitude to get out for another freezing cold run(like running in Maine winters). Have a blessed day!

Extra

Once again it was on the cooler side at 18 degrees here on Long Island.  I like the Long Island version of winter better than the Maine version for sure.  I did 9 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery.  I felt pretty good on the repeats, in fact I felt better on the repeats than on the warm-up running .  The total for the day was 7.1 miles.  There was about an inch of snow on the ground from yesterday.  I got out at 4:35 am again.  Didn't see any walkers or runners this morning. Have a blessed day!

Cold Day for Hill Repeats

Cold only as related to Long Island standards and not by the standards of my old home in Maine.  I did my usual 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 7.2 miles.  For some reason, I couldn't sleep th at well last night-- so I'm guessing I got around 4 hours of sleep.  It was a cloudy 19 degree day with light snow coming into the area.  I'm looking forward to Bible Study tonight after I get out of our after-school program.  God has been my strength in this difficult time in my life with two grandchildren on the way in the unexpected sort of way.  My daughter Kaitland has not communicated with me for days, which is a difficult thing when I know she is staying at her boyfriends mother's house after wanting to leave my house.  Even so, I know that God is in control.

New Beginnings

This is not my first workout of the new year, but my first run on a school day for 2015. I decided to do a distance run since I got up early enough and did 9 on Randall.  It was 45 degrees to start with, but you could feel the temps drop as the workout progressed. I love the ponds that I pass on this run. Not a soul out this early winter morning. I hear that we may get some snow tomorrow, that would be cool.  I'm so blessed to have the health and to be able to enjoy these workouts. Have a blessed day!

Wed-Thurs-Friday In a Hope, Maine

I brought my daughters Kimberly and Rebekah to Maine on Tuesday.  I got up early on Wednesday and did my usual workout around Hope at 14 degrees.  I slowly warmed into the workout and did 8.03 miles.  On Thursday I ran the usual route with a little extra for 8.19 miles.  This was my fastest pace of the three days.  On Friday I headed out the door at a balmy 27 degrees.  I did the usual for 8.04 miles.
I truly enjoy the beauty of this area with streams, ponds, and rolling mountains.  The hills definitely add a challenge.  I saw the pastor out on New Year's Day and a runner trying to sneak past on Friday. In these days my wife and I made two trips to Eastport. One to bring the girls home and the other a surprise visit.  This vacation has had it's fill of drama and some heartache, but I am grateful for the strength that The Lord provides. During this vacation, 6 of the ten workouts have been run in Maine-- back to New York. Looking forward to seeing God at work in 2015!
