A Little Better

Yesterday I could feel sickness trying to take over. I had a fairly restful evening and a decent night’s sleep. This morning I definitely felt better. When I woke up I was a little doubtful. I decided to stick with m routine and Praise God I think I am improving. I just think I need to cut back a bit to preserve energy for restoration and healing. I did the Woodlot/Randall with an out and back to the trailer on Raynor. I did 8.88 miles in 2:01:53 for a 13:43 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 194 feet with an average heart rate of 126 bpm at a temperature of 29 degrees and 79 percent humidity. I am truly looking forward to the weekend. The grind gets to me. Love you Jesus!

Sunday/Monday

I woke up a bit earlier, but I could not get out of my way and ended up behind schedule— frustrating. I will however keep my eyes on Jesus. I get so distracted, but I am confident in His care and love for me. Sunday I went down to Wertheim as I had to take Charlotte to church. It is so being down there. I put several of my pics on various social media. I did 7.82 miles in 2:23:07 for an 18:17 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 88 feet with an average heart rate of 101 bpm at 37 degrees and 90 percent humidity. Keep Plugging

I’m between feeling rushed and contented. I’m not feeling anxious about getting things done, but at the same time I don’t really have time to feel good about the work that I get done. A few random thoughts. Glad to do the workouts , but it’s a bit of a drudgery at the moment. Weight is on the higher average side. Dealing with a slight medial collateral ligament strain on the left leg. Did some ibuprofen, but now icing it. I am grateful that our school got renewed. Thank you Jesus!

Knowing My Limitations

I decided today to stick with the 3 x Woodlot with the third lap cutting across the trail plus one hill on Woodlot.  When you feel yourself dreading the workout, it is time to work within that limitation. The little bit of jogging that I throw in makes up for the otherwise slow pace and helps to get to the move goal. I did 8.67 miles in 2:02:56 for a 14:10 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 221 from with an average heart rate of 125 bpm at a rainy 44 degrees and a 95 percent humidity. I felt like stopping short , but God provided the motivation. Have a blessed day!

Keep Moving

There are times when your mind is having doubts and your routine carries you through. Today was such a day for me. I did my new short route plus. Due to minor challenges I got out slightly later than I wanted. This set my routine back, which was kind of annoying. I did 9.15 miles in 2:06:44 for a 13:51 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 185 feet with an average heart rate of 119 bpm at a temp of 42 degrees and 97 percent humidity. Looking to the Lord!

Sunday/Monday

I did enjoy my sleep this past weekend. Saturday due to Jace leaving for school early, we didn’t sleep in.  We did have a fantastic day with my three precious granddaughters.
We went to Friendly’s, watched Frozen 2 in Mastic, went for a hike in Wertheim, then we spent time at home with the three beauties. On Sunday I slept to 7:20 and then jumped out of bed and headed for Calverton. I went to the trail heading towards the Grummond road. I parked in the first off road parking spot and headed to the trail. I noticed that all of the trail inside the fence is off limits. I ended up walking back and forth on the one section of the trail not blocked.
This part of the trail amounted to around 2.5 miles back and forth.  I walked for a total just over 8 miles. I met a skate boarder around my age and a group of photographers from a college around the city. Here are the stats- 8.06 miles in 2:26:13 for an 18:08 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 98 bpm and an elevation gain of 254 feet at a drizzly mild 57 degrees and 93 percent humidity.
Today I did the Woodlot Loop three times with the third time cutting across the trail after backtracking one hill. I did 8.69 mile in 2:03:58 for a 14:15 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 183 feet with an average heart rate of 116 bpm at 36 degrees and 74 percent humidity. I did a little jogging to make a slow pace not quite as slow. I am blessed! Have a good day — Jesus be praised!

Getting It Done

This has been a week of conflict. I just pray that out of the conflict will come healing and understanding and greater love for each other. I’m tired of feeling like a failed communicator. Lord help me. Today I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.05 miles in 2:06:16 for a 13:57 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 208 feet with an average heart rate of 119 bpm at a temperature of 32 degrees and 94 percent humidity. Have a blessed day!

Turmoil

I went to bed with tension with my wife and step-son and woke up to tension with my daughter. It’s not a good feeling, in fact it is unsettling. I got out later than I wanted and did the Woodlot/Ridge/Randall plus to Apple Court and back. I did 9.21 miles in 2:07:37 for a 13:51 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 180 feet and an average heart rate of 121 bpm at a temperature of 25 degrees and 47 percent humidity. I am pleased with the training this week . Have a blessed day!

Greasy

I woke up a bit tired and also disappointed a bit in myself for letting my fatigue make me grumpy. I went to bed to a quiet bedside partner. I lit into her about an inconsistent in how the “children “ are responded to. I may have had a point, but the timing was not good. I hate going to sleep knowing that things are not as they should be. Back to the workout. It took me awhile to really get going. I am definitely tired, but still managed. I did the Medford/Randall loop doing 8.88 miles in 2:04:35 for a 14:02 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 178 and an average pulse of 120 bpm at a temp of 32 degrees and 87 percent humidity. The roads were slippery in places. I had to jog to make up for slowdowns due to ice. By the end of the workout, I was pleased just to get the workout in. Jesus be praised. Have a blessed day!

Tired but Satisfied

Yesterday was a full day , and today promises to be a full day. I predetermined that I would do the 3 x  Woodlot Loop with the 3rd loop cut across the trail. Jace arrived home from his girlfriend’s house just past 11. I did 8.72 miles in 2:02:20 for a 14:01 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 174 feet and an average heart rate of 119 bpm at a temperature of 37 degrees and 53 percent humidity. The commute was great even though I got out a bit late. A long day ahead, looking to you Jesus.

First Day Back

It seems a bit weird being back home, back in school, and without Katie and Keon.  I woke up fairly refreshed after nearly two weeks of vacation. I also had a good pace for the second day in a row. I quietly am asking the Lord to direct in this new year. I did the Ridge Loop doing  9.01 miles in 2:05:09 for a 13:53 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 184 feet with an average heart rate of 125 miles at a temperature of 30 degrees and 66 percent humidity. So here I sit in my warm office preparing for the day ahead. Have a blessed day!

Early Start in Hope— First Workout of the Year 2020

I got up early since we have an early ferry to catch in New London. I relied on my headlamp as it was pitch black. It was snowing making the surface a little slick. My wife was not happy to see me up on New Years. I did make it out the door. There was something exciting about an early morning adventure knowing that the streets will be almost empty. I did the main loop 3 times going the usual Seacoast first way. This rout starts out with 3 big hills and then a long gradual downhill. I jogged some of the downhills to make up for the slower pace due to snowy roads and steep hills. My legs felt like jelly up the hills, but quickly recouped going down the hills. I did 9.11 miles in 2:05:53 for a 13:48 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 128 bpm and an elevation gain of 870 feet at a temperature of 27 degrees and 95 percent humidity. In the car now outside of Boston. It was a beautiful stay with 3 great workouts. Looking forward to some flatter workouts to finish the week. It has been a blessed vacation with my daughter Kaitland and grandson Keon. Happy New Year and God Bless you!
