Pleasant Tuesday

It was raining when I awoke, but thhe temps were inviting and mild. I did my usual Howe Hill Loop doing 9.18 miles in 2:09:21for a 14:05 minute per mile pace and a 118 average pulse rate. I took today off as my wife was leaving back home to New York. Have a blessed day!

Cold Monday in Hope

It was 10 degrees here in Hope , Maine the day after Christmas.  It was so dark ,
But Indecided to hot the dark roads at around 5:45 am. I eased my way into the workout realizing
that success will be in completing the workout and not in manufacturing a fast pace. All I could
I could hear was the nylon of my gloves hitting my pants.  I could see a deer rushing up a banking on  Howe Hill, which was about the only movement that I detected on my morning's journey. I did 9.14 miles  in 2:07:13 for a 13:55 minute per mile pace for a 949 foot elevation gain and a 138 bpm pulse . The hill and the cold were the main culprits this morning trying to prevent me from completing the workout. God Bless! Looking forward to a good visit from my brother.

Feel Good Friday

This was one of those mornings that even though I was not the most rested, I knew that I only had half a day so I felt encouraged and kind of enjoyed the workout.  I did the Medford/Randall Loop doing 9.25 miles in 1:56:51 for a 12:37 minute per mile pace with a 120 bpm average heartrate.  I would write more but things are kind of crazy here at work.  I did a bit or running to get back a bit earlier.  Looking forward to Christmas and going to Maine.

Smooth Sailing

It was another cloudy morning making a dark morning even darker.  I was feeling a bit down, looking at life and my time in life knowing that most likely there is less time left than spent.  I'm not feeling depressed about it , but coming to grips with your own mortality is something that we all must come to grips with.  Being a Christian I look at my life and realize I need to invest it wisely as one day I know that I will have to give account for my life.  Even we as believers worry and wrestle with the issues of this life--but we can have confidence in the Lord and His perfect plan for our lives.  I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.15 miles in 2:00:15 for a 13:08 minutes with an elevation of 152 feet with an average pulse of 115 bpm.  I love this loop as it is mainly woods with most of the workout I can go in the road . Off to paradise--God Bless!

Starting in Fall Ending in Winter

I started the day with a little extra enthusiasm as I knew that Wednesday morning was going to be an easy morning(Lord willing of course) with the 4th and 5th grades on a field trip.  In addition, I had my toughest day Tuesday with back to back doubles and a single class of 7th and 8th graders for PE. So even though I woke up feeling the same physically, after having my Starbucks Black Eye cup of coffee, I dressed up and did the Longwood/Medford Loop doing 8.88 miles in 1:55:38 for a 13:00 minute per mile pace with an average pulse of 119 bpm.  I was pleased with the pace and just kind of enjoyed today's workout.  This time of year it's as if time stands still while I amble along the streets with Christmas lights winking at me as if to bid me a good morning.  I reflect back on the days of workouts in past years with this always being a good time for me.  It's as if for a brief season I feel at peace and am comforted in a way that I don't experience at other times of the year. My wight has been hovering in the upper 190's as food seems to be my comfort from the hustle and bustle of the season. I think if I did not weigh myself daily that I would weigh at least 210 right now.  So now I prepare to leave this blog and my few readers for the day.  I hope that you experience the peace that only Christ can provide today--God Bless You! Happy Wednesday and first day of Winter(which started at 5:44 am eastern time).

Grooving on Tuesday

I got up early again, but was not so quick to get around. I did 8.63 miles in 1:57:29 for a 13:36 minute per mile pace and 118 bpm heartrate on the Figure 8 Extra plus.  It was a calm 20 degree morning.  I saw one runner coming at me on the Woodlot Loop, but he never speaks when I say good morning:).  I really enjoy observing the Christmas lights on my workouts this time of year.  Off to the salt mines.  God Bless!

Christmas Week

I woke up before my alarm went off, putting myself in the great position of starting the week ahead of schedule.  It was windy and cool with a temp of 27 degrees.  I decided to do the Longwood/Medford Loop.  I ended up with 8.86 miles in 1:58:42 for a 13:23 minute per mile pace with average heartrate of 117 bpm.  I am trying to be mindful of Christ this Christmas.  It seems with technology and instant access to so much that we fail to focus on the Holy Spirit and what God is trying to accomplish.  Dear Lord keep us mindful of your work in our lives and those around us. Have a blessed day!

Thursday/Friday

Yesterday I did the Ridge/Woodlot Loop doing 9.16 miles in 1:57:32 for a 12:49 minute per mile pace and an average heartrate of 100 bpm.  Today I did the Randall Extra Plus Loop finishing up Kastal for 8.82 miles in 1:55:40 for a 13:06 minute per mile pace and an average heartrate of 127 bpm.  The temp was 18 degrees and windy this morning for a cold start.  Don't have a lot of time, but I am pleased with the pace that I have been able to do on my workouts this past week.  I got my weight down to 197--a little progress.  Did an easy set of 14 chin-ups.  Off to the world of teaching.  Have a blessed Christmas season!

Good Start

I made it out the door later than I had hope, and I pictured a morning of being behind and playing catch up.  I decided not to check my watch for splits, and just keep moving.  I decided ot check the watch after 8 miles and was pleasantly surprised to see that I was well ahead of schedule.  I did the Longwood/Medford in 1:55:50 for a 13:06 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 255 feet and an average heartrate of 100 bpm in 32 degree temps.  I didn't let my mind daydream , but just sort of plugged ahead.  The morning was so quiet and still here in the darkness of the late fall and the shortest days of the year.  I heard what sounded like a cat fight on Ridge Road just before the school and may have spooked a deer as well.  I saw a couple of falling stars in the northern skies. Nice start to the day--God Bless you my friend!

Post Patriot's Win

I was tired yesterday, but the Patriot's game was on last night so I stayed up until the end.  I had a black eye Starbuck's Coffee to start the morning so I did o.k.  I did the old home loop of the figure 8 plus extra doing 8.67 miles in 1:58:26 for a 13:39 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 123 bpm.  I wore my North face shoes that I bought this summer in PA on vacation.  Thankfully I feel energetic enough, commute was good again.  I watched a story last night about a boy who had terminal cancer--he happened to be at the Patriot's game last night as part of his bucket list.  His story reminded me of how wicked it is to feel self-pity.  God has been so gracious to me, and I am blessed. God Bless You!

Cold,Wet, Miserable!

It was snowing when I went to bed and raining when I woke in the morning.  I did not feel like going out , but by habit I made it out.  It was 45 degrees and rainy here in Ridge.  I did the Longwood/Medford Loop doing 8.9 miles in 2:01:49 for a 13:41 minute per mile pace gaining 284 feet in elevation.  Had a nice talk with my father this morning, he had a snow day--so blessed! Had a nice weekend with Ryleigh there most of the time. God Bless! ps. Still trying to get my wight back in the mid190's after hovering in the high 190's.

Ridge Road is so Nice to See You Again

I woke up after a nice dream and noticed it was 4:08--I felt ok, so I went back to the old routine for today.  I had my coffee with a ClaritonD and put my workout clothes on and headed out the door.  All things considered it was a great workout.  I was afraid that I would get sick and that my workouts would be set back, but praise God today went well.  My first couple splits were mediocre with mile 2 being over 14 minutes--so I decided to try to get my walking pace moving on this blustery 33 degree morning here in Ridge.  Thankfully, I was able to get a good rhythm going and finished as follows--  9.08 miles in 2:01:01 for a 13:19 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 138 bpm and an elevation gain of 177 feet.  The funny thing is that on the days where my distance was down on my running workouts, I was just barely able to meet my active calorie goal on my iPhone watch which I met by running in place just before bed.  Thankfully today I am well on my way.  Looking forward to the weekend--hopefully able to get some nice rest in.  John 3:16,17!

Change in plans Day #2

I  decided that my body was going to dictate my workout so when I woke up after 5 I knew that I was going to stick with yesterday's plan of doing Woodlot plus a simple Apple Court for 3.81 miles in 34:41 for a 9:o6 minute per mile pace --2 of my splits below 9's.  My average pulse was 176 bpm.  I followed my workout with a cool-down walk. Thankfully my knees are holding up.  The key is to get higher intensity with less volume--basically, I just don't have the energy to have to push push through my day starting just after 4. Tomorrow could be the same.  My calves are a bit sore, but other than that I am doing ok.  Better pace today, but still staying on top of my workouts.  Have a very blessed day!

A Change in Plans

I just barely survived yesterday.  My sinuses and fatigue made me feel like going through a fog bank in a stupor.  I realized that I just don't have the energy and I for sure don't have a full-blown sickness, so I will modify and do what I can.  I decided not to set my alarm.  I woke up at 4:45, but so did my wife.  I like it dark and quiet when I wake up while she immediately grabs her phone and explores the internet.  After reading my devotions I headed out the door and decided to jog the Woodlot Loop plus do the simple Apple Court without doing all the inlets.Since I didn't feel great I decided just to jog along at a comfortable pace and take what I could without struggling. I did 3.83 miles in 39.23 for a 10:16 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 53 feet and an average pulse of 146 bpm.  I took a Clariton D with coffee to help me out of the fog--and it helped.  Off to a challenging school day--God Bless!

Going through The Motions

I have a tiny cold, but it is enough to tap my strength.  I am getting through the workouts, but that is about all that I am doing.  I did 8.67 on the Figure 8 plus extra loop doing it in 1:58:53 for a 13:42 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 154 and an average heart rate of 131 bpm.  it was 31 degrees and clear.  Only a few pick-ups helped keep my pace in the reasonable range.  I got my fabulous forty and a set of bench presses in.  Off to a meeting now. Bible Study tonight. God Bless!

A True Monday

I woke yp this morning after a night of reluctantly expecting the start of a crazy work week.  I felt as if I could come down with something if I don't cut back.
But this Monday found me behind ,slow, and with people upset with me:(. I did the figure 8 plus extra for 8.63 miles in 2:01:23 for a 14:03 minute per mile pace with an average pulse of 127 bpm with an elevation gain of 195. It wad 37 degrees and rainy. Off to class -/ God is God and I am not!

The Quiet Alarm

I woke up late at 4:45 as my alarm which was on vibrate was on my carpeted floor and I did not hear it go off.  The good news is that I quickly got out of bed and decided to do the 9 x .3 mile hill repeat workout with warm up and cool down and walk recoveries.  Altogether I did 7.58 miles in 1:28:30 for an average pace of 11:37 and an average heart rate of 122 bpm with an elevation gain of 348 feet. I had to make a split second decision as to get a workout in or modify--thankfully I modified. Decorating the church tonight!  Jesus is the reason for the season!

Keep Your Chin Up

My alarm went off at 4:04 am, and I awoke to notice that my wife had not slept for hours.  At this point I went against my instinct to drag myself out of bed to workout and I stayed with my wife.  I realized that maybe I could benefit from the rest as I have just survived the last few days due to extreme fatigue from the craziness of the past few weeks.  I did a couple of sets of chin-ups before I headed out to school which means I have only one set to do tonight. I did have a nice time in the Word this morning. Have a blessed day!

Good Start/Good Workout

I have felt very rushed this week with three morning meetings and the pressure of life kicking in making life choices not so fun.  That aside, this morning's workout went well.  I started out good, but felt the pace slowing so I incorporated some periods of running to get me back home in decent time. i did the Longwood/Medford Loop doing 8.92 miles in 1:58:01 for a 13:13 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 271 feet and an average heart rate of 116 bpm.  it was a partly cloudy 49 degree morning so I was able to dress less warmly. Have a blessed day!

Getting Warmer

I got out a bit later today on the Longwood/Medford Loop. I did 8.92 miles in 2:00:48 for a 13:32 minute per mile pace. I made
An elevation gain of 278 feet with an average heartrate of 112 bpm.  I think a better night's sleep proved helpful resulting in a lower heart rate.  I felt a bit hurried as I got out later. I ran the ladt .92 miles. It started out cold but quickly warmed up. Blogging later, off to Bible Study-- God Bless. So nice to have Bekah home. God Bless!

An unexpected trip to Maine meant a workout in Hope on the Howe Hill Loop doing 9.26 miles in 2:04:50 for a 13:28 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 134 bpm and an elevation gain of 897 feet.  Today I did 9.07 mile in 1:59:31 minutes for a 13:10 per mile with an average heartrate of 131 bpm for an elevation gain of 146 feet.  Off to do my classes! God bless!

Happy Thanksgiving 2016

I got out of bed a bit past 5, the good thing about vacation is that I can sleep in a bit.  I did the Longwood/Medford Loop but added about a half mile ascent up a hill of from Wading River Hillow Road.  I also did another road of from Wading River Hollow Road that parallels Longwood for most of the way. I ended up doing 9.51 miles in 2:07:07 for a 13:21 minute per mile pace and a heartrate of 130 bpm . The temp was 37 which seemed much warmer without the wind.  It's been a quiet morning so far, with Char and kim doing some
Baking after a whaffle breakfast. Looking forward to seeing my daughter, granddaughters, and daughter's boyfriend. On my bedroom deck right now blogging this . Have a blessed day my friends. God is good even when it doesn't appear that He is-- because His purpose is always greater than we realize.

Walking Dead

I woke up at 4--the alarm waking me out of a dead sleep,  I was tired due to the long day yesterday.  the streets were quieter with Longwood School district out today.  I decided to do the Longwood/Medford Loop doing it in 2:03:03 for 8.88 miles at a 13:51 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 124 bpm and an elevation gain of 257.  The skies were dark with high clouds covering the sun and moon.  Looking forward to Thanksgiving Break and the arrival of my brother and his family. God Bless!

Don't Be Fooled

My bottom line for today's walk is a bit deceiving.  I did 8.9 miles in 1:57:51 with an elevation gain of 242 and an average pace of 13:13 minutes per mile with an average heartrate of 143 beats per minute.  The temp wa 36 degrees with a strong wind throughout.  I did the Ridge/Woodlot loop on this partially cloudy winterlike morning.  The truth is that my first 5 miles were paced at over 14 minutes per mile--I was just too tired and stiff to make progress.  I decided that I should jog for a couple of miles just to put me back on schedule for the morning and my commute to work.  It worked out thankfully.  Working to get my weight to 196 by Friday. Looking forward to Thanksgiving and my brother and his family coming on Friday night. To NYC Lord willing on Saturday! God use me today--God Bless!

Flakes - a- Flying

I woke up after a good night's sleep for a Sunday night and found that the morning weather reminded me of winter.  It was 32 degrees with a wind chill much colder than that and it was snowing out here in Ridge, NY.  I did the Longwood/Medford Loop doing 8.85 miles in 2:02:37 for a 13:47 minute per mile pace and an average pulse of 123 bpm.  I had a great day yesterday with my daughter Ericka and my three granddaughters staying the day at my house.  Praying for my daughter Rebekah as she burned her hand and leg yesterday and praying form my daughter Kaitland and grandson Keon. Looking to God to do those things that I can't--Lord use me and my family today-Amen!

Good Friday

I got out slightly earlier this morning on the Ridge Road Loop with a breeze and 43 degrees.  I had a better night's sleep than previous nights this week.  I also arrived to work at a decent time thanks to moving traffic.  I did 9.04 miles in 2:00:59 for a 13:22 minutes per mile for a good pace, especially for a Friday.  The first two miles I had splits in the 14's. so I decided that I had to pick up the pace and I did with a top split of 10:59.  That split was due to the fact that the local runner passed me at the end of Ridge.  I let him go , but it ticked me off even though I was walking--so I let him pass and get past me--but then in a split second I took off and burned by him with him turning east on Whiskey road and me turning west.  My goal the next two weeks is to get my wight back in the low 190's instead of the high 190's.  Try to get to 196 next Friday and 193 the Friday after that.  Have a blessed day! Praying for my daughter Rebekah's job interview!  Oh yeah, elevation gain of 126 feet and an average heart rate of 119 bpm.

No Zip

I hit the roads after a long day and a short night.  I thankfully was able to find the resolve to hit the streets on short rest.  I did the Longwood/Medford loop doing 8.7 miles in 2:04:28 for a 14:17 minute per mile pace with an average heart rate of 139 bpm and an elevation gain of 248 feet..  It was a clear 43 degree morning. Just trying to keep moving at his point. Have a blessed day!

Medford/Randall/Woodlot Extra Plus

I did the above route which I have not done in a few weeks.  This week I have tried to mix my workout routes around to keep my perspective fresh.  It was a 45 degree overcast morning with the moon trying to peek from behind the clouds.  The fall workouts on Long Island are great for workouts--cool but not cold--and the falls last a long time here in comparison to Maine. I did 9.01 miles in 2:03:37 for a 13:42 minute per mile pace.  I did see the one runner that is out there on occasion on the Randall Road towards Shoreham. The elevation gain was 154 feet with an average heartrate of 118 bpm.  I have a long day with parent/teacher conferences until 8 o'clock today. I had a good time at Bible study last night at Genesis church.  Off to the rest of the day--God Bless!

Rainy Tuesday

The best part of each day is that early morning workout where I can decompress and gain perspective.  i did the Longwood/Medford Loop doing 8.79 miles in 2:00:56 for a 13:44 minute per mile pace with an average pulse of 120 bpm.  I don't have an elevation gain.  Getting a bit discouraged , but I am grateful for God's provision and pray that I treat those I love the way they deserve--help me Lord!

Have a blessed day-- oh, yeah it was a beautiful bright 39 degree morning.

In a Blur

It seems as lately life has been moving along so fast that it seems as if I am just along for the ride.  I got out the door and headed north in the opposite direction of the past 3 days.  I did the Ridge/Woodlot loop doing 8.83 miles in 2:00:50 at a 13:40 minute per mile pace with an average bpm of 118 with an 116 foot elevation gain.  Tonight we head towards the Tom's River area to spend the night as we go to Six Flags Great Adventure tomorrow> Have a blessed day!

I Elect to Workout

I headed out the door thanks to a one hour later start time for work.  Today is election day and a pivotal day I believe for this country, but first things first--workout;)  I did the Longwood /Medford Loop again doing 8.58 miles in 1:53:13 for a 13:11 minute per mile pace at a robust 146 bpm heart rate. With about 1 1/2 miles to go I pass by the voting place, but the lot was filled--I was thinking of stopping by if things looked empty.  With Trump and Clinton topping the ticket--America was out in full force.  Well, back to my workshop-- God Bless!

Th Limits of Technology

This morning I felt as if I was getting off to a good start.  I decided however to try my walking app--which seemed to be going well until mile 4.82 miles where I think an update took place and my workout stopped.  I think that I may just walk ,but use the running function.  The workout we will call 8.7 miles doing the Medford/Longwood Loop at a then 13:27 minute per mile pace.  The temp was around 42 windy degrees and with the time change I actually saw some daylight at the end.  Praying for the election tomorrow!  God Bless!

Freaky Friday

I got off to a late start due to an update on my watch which took 20 minutes.  I did the figure 8 plus extra which according to my apple watch is only 8:08 miles which I did in 1:52:38 for a 13:56 minute per mile pace for 124 bpm heart rate. Off to great adventures!  God Bless!

iPhone Thursday

This was my first day with the iPhone watch to track my workouts adding technology and heart rate technology.  Quick run-down.  8.81 miles at a 13:28 minute per mile pace total time of 1:58:52 and average heartrate of 143 bpm--not bad for walking. Have a blessed day--this was the Ridge Loop.

Milder With Clear Skies

I woke up after a good night's sleep, this being the first day where my alarm woke me up.  I got up, crept across the room and entered the day with a sliver of optimism.  I did the Meford/Longwood Loop once again doing 8.79 miles in 2:01:35 for a 13:50 minute per mile pace with a 164 elevation gain. Praying specifically for my daughter Rebekah that she would get out and move down here. God Bless!

Frosty Tuesday

I got out a bit groggy but determined on this 33 degree first day of November. I did 8.8 miles in 2:01:04 for a 13:45 minute per mile pace and a 158 foot gain in elevation on the Medford/Longwood loop. One week from today we will elect our next president. Praying for this and much more. God Bless!

Longwood/Medford Again

I was up a couple minutes early so that I got out in decent time! Quick Hit

I got out and it was a bit warmer this morning, but still seasonal.  It was breezy cloudy and a bit damp.  I did 1:59:33 for the figure 8 plus doing 8.63 miles at a 13:51 minute per mile pace for a 111 foot elevation gain.  Looking forward to the weekend. Parent teacher conference for me this afternoon. God Bless

Wheels Rolling on a Thursday

I got out on the late part of a normal morning, but thankfully I had a decent pace for a Thursday morning.  Strangely enough it was 39 degrees once again.  The skies were clouding over as the rain approached Long Island. I did the figure 8 extra plus once again as I plan on doing this loop as my mainstay.  The distance is perfect and get's me back to the house at a better time.  A quarter mile less makes a difference as far as getting back a couple minutes earlier(speed walking) and the route never takes me more than 3 miles away from home.  I always reserve the right to change the route up.  I did 8.65 miles in 1:57:32 for a 13:32 minute per mile speed walking pace with a 118 foot gain in elevation. Been praying for my brother-in-law as he has been suffering from migraines. Have a blessed day! God is good and powerful!

A Taste of things to Come

I woke up with not the longest night's sleep, but just as if I had eight hours of sleep I rolled out of bed and attacked the day.  I did the figure eight loop which I like right now.  I had Bible Study last night at Genesis Church--leading a group which was small last night.  It was a breezy 39 degrees and I did 8.66 miles in 1:59:06 for a 13:45 minute per mile pace with a 112 foot gain in elevation.  The skies were clear which made for beautiful inviting skies overhead.  The years have rolled by and my dear friend the early morning workout has been my companion for so long.  I switched to the early morning workout just before I got married in 92 so as to leave the day time for my family and commitments. Well, here I go off to another day--God Bless and may He be glorified in my life today!

Beautiful Morning

This morning I had a good workout which had nothing to do with my workout pace or distance, I just found myself in a peaceful state of mind.  I saw a falling star as I paced up the hill just past the city works equipment building.  It was a cool 39 degrees which felt good to me.  I got out the door a few minutes slower and my pace was slower, but that's alright.  I did 8.63 miles in 2:00:59 for a 14:01 minute per mile walking pace and a 113 foot elevation gain.  The morning skies were beautiful as the moon and starlight shined through the lower level cloud cover.  Have a blessed day my friends!

Revisiting An Old Friend

This was one of those mornings where I felt like I needed to be a bit returning to the past.  When I feel like I am drifting sometimes I just pull back so I did the figure 8 plus extra loop doing 8.6 in 1:59:04 for a 13:51 minute per mile pace and a 127 foot gain in elevation.  It was 52 degrees with a few showers in the air with the feel of fall evident once again.  I did see a few deer lurking about.  This loop was my primary loop for years, especially when I first moved too Long Island.  The biggest change for me has been the frenetic pace of life.  In some ways the business helps me to momentarily forget my problems, but at the same time I feel like I am losing myself in the business. Sometimes I wonder if I am becoming a different person.

Longwood/Medford

I had a little feel of optimism for some reason this morning.  Perhaps knowing that we are eating at the diner tonight or that my wife and I have a couple of hours to ourselves tonight. I got our a little bit earlier and got back earlier making for a less rushed morning.  I did 8.68 miles in 1:58:09 for a 13:37 minute per mile pace.  One thing I enjoy about my routine is the fact that I have a couple of days off from walking.  My strength training is fit in during convenient times during the day so that there is little impact on my everyday life.  Although there are many things up in the air, I do see the Lord's Hand at work--and oh how I need His help!  Have a blessed day!

Habit

I did today strictly out of habit.  I had a very long day yesterday and was feeling tired.  I just know that at the end of the day I am always glad that I put thw work in. I did the Ridge loop again in 2:02:12 doing 8.92 miles a a 13:42 minute per mile pace. It seemed today that I actually picked the pace up the last frw miles after some slower splits in the middle. Busy seems to be the way of life lately. Have a blessed day!

Ridge Walker

I got out a bit later in nice summerlike temps.  I did 8.94 in 2:03:55 doing approximately a 13:55 minute per mile pace. Limited time! God Bless!

Saying Goodbye

I got up this morning--got my gear on--drank my coffee--and kissed my daughter goodbye as she headed back to Maine. The workout was a blur as my wife took Rebekah to the bus early this morning.  When I got back my Bekah was gone. Dealing with sadness this morning as my daughters are as well.  I did 8.76 miles in 1:57:52 for a 13:27 minute per mile pace.  The time with Rebekah and my daughters was precious.  Thank you Jesus for my family--thank you Char for being such a wonderful wife!

Two Hoot Morning

I did not get the best night's sleep and as a result had a slow workout.  I did the Ridge Loop in 2:07:46 doing 8.91 miles at a 14:20 minute pace per mile.  I heard two owls around Apple Court hooting away the morning.  Probably they were trying to get me to pick up the pace.  Off to get stuff done. God Bless!

Back at It

I am back at work today after a couple of vacation days and a workshop day.  I did the Longwood/Medford Loop for 8.89 miles in 2:02:57 for a 13:50 minute per mile pace.  It was foggy and 48 degrees.  There seemed to be a lot of traffic this morning.  Nice to be back at work--God Bless!

Monday -Tuesday-Wednesday

I did 29.45 miles on the bike in 2:09 for 13.7 miles per hour average on my bike. I did my usual Grummond Road Loop. Yesterday, I did 8.92 miles in 2:04:29 for a 13:57 minute per mile pace on the Ridge Road Loop.   I did 9.06 in 2:00:25 for a 13:17 per mile pace on the Longwood/Medford Loop.  My wife went on a trip with her cousin yesterday and today in Philadelphia-- nice to have her home. God Bless!

Foggy Friday

I did 8.68 in 2:02:18 for a slow 14:05 per mile pace on the Medford/Randall Loop.  Off to a great day. Cousin Mandy coming to visit Char. God Bless!

Getting it Done

I woke up this morning not needing the alarm and feeling better with more sleep.  I got up, shucked my seven eleven coffee then dressed for this 46 degree Long Island morning.  I decided to do the Ridge Loop with it's quiet and solitude.  I ended up doing 8.9 in 2:04 for a 13:56 minute per mile pace.  Ridge road is pitch black this time of year, thankfully the lines are brightly painted.  Grateful to get the work in even when I am not in the most of optimistic of moods. Have a blessed day!

Ridge Runner

I woke up at 2 something and never did fall back asleep.  I layed their restfully, but sleep escaped me. I did the Longwood/Medford Loop in 2:01:50 for 8:85 miles for a 13:44 minute pace.  It was 52 degrees and very dark and dreary.  Looking to the Lord!

Frosty Tuesday in DownEast Maine

I did 10.44 miles in 2:17:57 for a 13:13 minute per mile pace on the same loop as Sunday which includes the hill foing up the rise at the loading dock. It was a 514 raise in elevation.  It was a blessing to have my daughter Katie and grandson Keon stay with me at Harris Point.  The hard part of the move is being separated, even with being with my wife , oldest daughter Ericka, and youngest granddaughters, and youngest daughter Kim. Looking to the Lord for His leading. Eastport despite its obvious downpoints srill feals like home ro me-- even though my home is with my wife and family. On the ferry headed for Orient Point.  Work tomorrow-- God is good! Good Night!

Grand Monday in Eastport

. I got out a bit past 6:30-- late by my standards, but it feels good to sleep sometimes.  I did my usual standard loop where I head out 190 going up Redoubt Hill and Estes Head and then out theough Quoddy Village and back to Harris Point.  I did 9.41 miles in 2:04:31 for a 13:14 minute per mile on a 54 degree sunny Maine morning.  Everything about this place feels like home except I need my beloved wife and daughter and 3 granddaughters.  I just feel at ease and perfectly at home here-- but truly home is where my wife and children are. Tomorrow will have to be an early start.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the day including a quick trip to Lubec to West Quoddy Head and Monica's Chocolates.  Katie and Keon will be spending the night at the cabin tonight. So excited! Heading to The New Friendly Diner. God Bless!

Wet Walk in Eastport

My plan is to get three workouts while here in Eastport to make up for the missed workout last week. The tale of the tape is 10.08 miles in 2:14:50 for a 13:21 minute per mile pace at 52 degrees and light rain.  It is so quiet here, and even thougj I no longer live here I know that God is still using me here. Church in a bit. Enjoying the quiet of Harris Point Cabins. So here I go-- off for the day-- God Bless and use you today!

Changing It Up

I got out a bit later for a variety of reasons, so I decided to do the 9 x .3 mile hill running repeats with the warm-up and recovery I speed walked.  I know that this workout taxes my knees a bit, but with two scheduled off days I assumed the risk.  I did the repeats on my usual Raynor Road hill--running the repeats at a brisk pace but under control .  Here are the stats on the workout--7.43 miles in 1:28:57 for an 11:58 minute per mile pace and 284 feet of elevation gained.  It was a cloudy and breezy 61 degrees.  Off to Maine tomorrow after work Lord willing to my parents.  I will attempt to blog on my phone in Maine.  God Bless!

Better Day

I woke up with a little bit more positive attitude this morning, with the help of a positive day on Tuesday.  I have decided to stay away from the Longwood Loop as I am seeking the solitude of the north of 25 routes.  I did the Ridge Road Loop doing 8.92 miles in 1:57:02 for a 13:07 minute per mile pace.  I was able to get in a couple  of sets of bench presses before heading to work.  I am trying to get what I can of strength work before my trip, since I will be away from the weights while in Eastport.  I have open house tonight for my step-son.  Oh well, on to the job! Praying for God to do a great work in me and in my family!

I'm Walking in the Rain

I was feeling tired and down--but I knew that I had to get out there on this rainy morning.  I did the Ridge/Woodlot Loop doing 8.92 miles in 2:04:43 for a 13:59 minute per mile pace.  I had a possum run across my path on Apple Court--gave me a little chill.  Ridge was very dark this morning.  One foot ahead of the other.  God Bless!

Dog House Boogie

I managed to get in the dog house before the crack of dawn.  Oh well, woof woof.  I decided to do the Medford/Randall Loop as I was in need of a less than two hour workout with a late start.  The temp was a cooler 45 degrees on this clear beautiful fall morning.  I did 8.64 miles in 1:57:38 for a 13:37 minute per mile pace.  I am glad to have my wife home again as she came home around 11:30 last night.  Lord willing, next Monday I will be in Eastport, Maine.  Thank You Lord for your many blessings!

Shot in the Dark

I woke up at 3:30 as my wife had to leave at 4:30 for a Weight Watcher in Chicago. I had to be back in time to make sure that I had time to take my step-son to school as his knee is injured.  I did the Ridge/Woodlot Loop doing 8.92 miles in 2:02:03 for a 13:41 minute per mile walking pace.  At this early hour I could pretty much walk on any part of the road that I wanted--even here on Long Island.  I saw a bunch of deer moving about as the temp was a cooler 54 degrees.  I wore my long sleeve shirt this morning.  I will miss my wife this weekend and next weekend I will Lord willing be up in Maine.  Off to a great start--have a blessed weekend.

I Might Be Tired But...

I took my daughter last night to emergency care(nothing serious) and didn't get back until after 11.  I knew that the morning would be a challenge getting up at 4...but I am a creature of habit and made it out the door.  I did the Medford/Randall Loop in 1:57:12 covering 8.65 miles at a 13:33 minute per mile walking pace.  I went past some sort or domestic dispute at Strathmore(a low income housing project) with a lady screaming about her keys to her boyfriend.  I was glad to get past the commotion.  It was a comfortable 61 degrees.  My knees are feeling a bit better today--yay!  Off to the races--day off to a good start as my brother always calls me on my way to work on Thursdays. God Bless!

Finding My Way through the Fog

I got out at 4:26 and thankfully it was a cooler 64 degrees.  Even though it was foggy I was clear minded and kept a 13:54 minutes per mile walking pace.  The issue of the outer knees being tender is the issue that I have been dealing with lately.  I have dealt with this on and off for many years, but the fact that I am walking on cement at work and up and down stairs all the time means that I have been more aware of the situation.  It is not something that prevents me from doing things, but I feel that I need to deal with it to prevent an injury that will affect my movement.  I am wearing a knee support on my left knee to help support the knee and help the soreness subside.  I did 8.71 miles in 2:01:11 on the Longwood/Medford Loop.
My age and work schedule are grinding and taxing this body.  I have the stamina , but my muscles and joints are letting me down.  I may have to take a rest or a decreased workload, but I am trying to avoid that.  I am doing little things now to try to get the left knee back in shape again.  Well, off to the grind.  God is always good:)

Overcast Tuesday

Not putting quite as much thought into my blogs lately as it just seems as I am busy doing something or having something upcoming.  This morning I did the Longwood/Medford Loop again doing it in 2:02:07 for a 13:55 minute per mile walking pace.  It just has been so dark with cloudy skies int he early morning meaning that there is no starlight.  I had a good time of fellowship and prayer with my good friend Lenny from church.  We picked Bobby's Burger Palace at the Smithtown Mall.  On Saturday I did a 7.25 mile(before my watch went dead) walk from Port Jeff to East Setauket on a nice paved trail.  My wife and I did it together stopping at Starbucks before heading back to our vehicle.  Off to my next class, have a wonderful blessed day!

Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down

I got out this morning and the temp was a humid 72 degrees.  It was very dark with rain on it's way.   I was a bit down--sometimes life just weighs heavy on you-- but one foot step after another and keep moving on is the strategy.  I did the Longwood/Medford Loop and did 8.8 miles in 2:03:54 for a 14:05 minute per mile walking pace.  My goal is to get my knees back so that don't ache so much. I am wearing knee supports during my workout.  My knees are feeling much better today so I am grateful.  Have a blessed day!

Friday Finish

I finished off the week by doing the Ridge/Woodlot Loop.  It was a nice cool 48 degrees as I did 8.94 miles in 1:59:09 for a 13:20 minute per mile pace.  I felt like this has been a decent week of training with both the walking and the weight training.  My recovery has just taken longer as I have been feeling more sore during the day.  For now I will just endure it, but if it persist I will try to cut a couple of pounds and perhaps incorporate an easy day on the five days of training that I do. Have a blessed weekend!

Not as Fleet on My Feet

I was surprised that the warm night turned into a comfortable morning.  I had a mediocre performance of 8.68 miles in 1:59:26 for a 13:46 minute per mile pace. This workout was done on the Longwood/Medford Loop.  The mornings are so dark this time of year. I can see animals moving and crossing the road, and I am in hopes that they see me as well.   My workouts are going well, just feel sore the rest of the day--working on a cement floor all day does not help. This week has flown by.  God is good!

Powered by Sleep

This morning I woke up powered by a full night's sleep.  My mood and energy were better--even though I got out the door a little later, my quicker pace made up the difference.  I did the Logwood/Medford Loop doing 8.79 miles in 1:53:52 for a 12:50 minute per mile walking pace.  It was much warmer this morning at 70 degrees, but the humidity was ok so I did fine.  Things went smoothly on the home front last night so that led into a good night of rest.  My commute to work went better.  Still looking to the Lord as I need His help in all things.  Have a blessed day!

Swift on Ridge

I had another lousy night's sleep. My mind was racing , feeling conflicted so many fronts.  The blended family is a work in progress.  The attempt is to be unified, but with two families trying to be one family there are often conflicts of interest that cause factions within the family unit.  Many times things are done with a feeling of ambivalence.  The key is trying to do the right thing in all aspects of the family realizing that not everyone will be happy with the decision or outcome.  At the end of the day you have to live with yourself and answer to God.  Grace is basically the major tenant  because you need a lot of it.

I did the Ridge/Woodlot Loop trying to hit the road before I realized how tired I was.  Thankfully, I had a good effort doing 8.87 miles in 1:55:11 for a 12:59 minute per mile walking pace.  It was a good thing I had a quick pace because my daughter Kim overslept and I had to wake her up.  She made it to school on time thankfully. Lunch almost over, with a busy afternoon to come. God Bless You!

Solemn Monday

My birthday started out awesome on Friday, but it didn't end well and continued into a bad weekend.  I won't get into the why's, but I am looking for a good week with the help of the Lord.My wife put an enormous amount of effort into making the day. Sometimes things with the best intentions don't turn out the way we think. I am so thankful for her efforts.  I did the Longwood/Medford Loop doing 8.77 miles in 2:00:25 for a 13:44 minute per mile pace in a comfortable 57 degree temperature.  Looking forward to a week with a good weather outlook. It was a quiet morning and like most Mondays it was a mediocre effort. Have a blessed day!

Happy Start to a Good Day

I woke up technically at 51 years old.  I started the workout this morning at 51 and ended it at 52.  I did the Medford/Randall Loop doing 8.69 miles in 1:56:29 for a 13:25 minute per mile pace.  It was very humid this morning, but a shot of 5 hour energy and water and out the door is how it went down.
Last year on this day I found out that my daughter attempted to kill herself by swallowing pills.  She was hospitalized and then taken to an institution for 8 days.  3 days after being released she went missing so that I had to take an emergency trip to Maine to pick her up and bring her down with me. That was the beginning to a difficult 6 months.  Praise be to Jesus, my daughter is doing excellent. There are certainly many challenges, but this is a much better day.  Have a blessed day!

The Day Before I get Older

I was not filled with quite as much pep as the first 3 days this week, but with the help of ultra-caffeinated coffee I hit the road on the move.  I decided to do the Ridge/Woodlot Loop doing 8.91 miles in 1:58:53 for a 13:20 minute per mile walking pace.  Ridge road was totally blacked out most of the way.  If it weren't for the white lines on the side of the road I would not have been able to make it down the road.  Wildlife was on the DL so it was quiet minus one songbird singing away.  In the early morning hour the roads here are empty, that's why I love that early time on the road.  Tomorrow I hit the next digit up after 51.  I am grateful to be training.  I have many good memories of my training in Eastport, but the weather here is nice and the scenery is pleasant.  I am trying to be appreciative of the present, because today's experiences are tomorrows memories. It was nice to talk with my brother as I headed to work. Off to lunch duty, have a blessed day!

New School Year -- Tuesday/Wednesday

I did 9.19 miles doing the Ridge Loop on Tuesday.  It was a windy morning with some light rain doing the workout in 2:04:27 for a 13:32 minute per mile.  Today I did the Longwood/Medford Loop doing 8.81 miles in 1:59:25 for a 13;34 minute per mile pace.  Today  is my daughter Kimberly's first day of school at Bellport Academic Center.  This morning was breezy and overcast at 70 degrees.  Busy day ahead--God bless you!

Early Start on Memorial Day

I got out at 4:50 am, I didn't have the best night of sleep but I decided to head out the door anyway while the streets were still quiet.  There was a suspicious car(as usual across the road). Either a drug or late night business.  The streets of Ridge were quiet, as I ambled along Longwood Loop. I did 9.05 miles in 2:05:53 for a 14:01 minute per mile walking pace. We have a tropical storm warning,
but it really wasn't that bad. Relaxing this last day before having students. Have a blessed day!

Hello September--Thursday, Friday

I must have slept on my watch alarm as I woke up at 5:45.  I was thinking at first that I would just have a leisurely morning, but as I collected my wits I got out of bed and had my high-test 7/11 Coffee.  I knew that I couldn't do my standard workout so I decided to run the Raynor/Ridge Loop.  DOing something is always better than doing nothing.  I ended up doing 3.41 miles in 30:49 for a 9:02 minute per mile pace.  It was a very humid 72 degrees so I felt like this was a decent effort.  I just find that after I run my knees ache for the rest of the day.  It's too bad because I do enjoy running, but the walking is keeping me fit with less aches and pains.
Today, Friday September 2 I did 9.08 miles in 1:59:45 for a decent 13:11 minute per mile walking pace on the Ridge Loop.  The Ridge loop is so quiet and peaceful that I can just get lost in my thoughts.  The temp was a comfortable 64 degrees.  It was just a beautiful morning with the sun peeping through large puffy clouds tinged with gray.  Tonight Lord willing my wife and I head for Tewksbury where we will spend the night before picking my daughter Kim up tomorrow in Kittery, Maine.  Looking to the Lord for better things this year--although I know that He uses those valleys to teach us invaluable lessons. Have a blessed Labor day weekend.  Ps.--I had a great time last night with my wife, daughter, and three granddaughters.  I saw channel 2 weather man Lonnie Quinn at Chuck E. Cheese.

Saying Good-Byes to August

I got out at 4:44 am with a still warm temp of 72 degrees.  I decided to do the Longwood/Medford Loop again.  I more times than not do the Longwood Loop the first three days and do the flatter north of Middle Country loops on Thursday and Friday.  I did 9.04 miles in 2:00:58 for a 13:23 minute per mile speed walking pace.  I felt a bit peppier and just sort of kept it moving.  I am enjoying being able to sleep a bit later as the students are not yet back in school.  Next week I will have to get up 15 minutes earlier.
Lord willing I pray that this year will be a good year where I can sense a direction in my life.  The last few years have been years of tribulation.  I am grateful for good health and strength as well as having a wife there beside me. Tomorrow on the first day of September--I am looking for a better start.  Last September was one of severe heartache when my youngest daughter attempted suicide and was put in a care facility for 8 days.  That was followed by her going MIA 3 days after being discharged which lead to my wife and I going to Maine to bring her to New York.  The next 5 months were trials eventually leading to a diagnosis and progress.  Things have been much better.  So Lord willing I am prayerfully hopeful for a good year.  I am especially looking forward to my stay in early October in Eastport for 3 days.  Well, enough venting for now--have a blessed day!

Two Days, two stories in the Heat

On Thurday I got out just past 6 and did the Randall/Kastal loop in 77 degree humid degrees.  I did 9.01 miles in 2:05:53 for a 13:59 minute per mile walking pace.  Today in 75 degree humid weather at 4:59 am I did my old interval workout.  I modified it a bit as I speed walked the warm-up and cool- down and slow power walked my recovery intervals.  I did 9x .3 mile hill intervals on Raynor Road.  I actually felt pretty good since I have not done a lot of running, but I think I do have a good fitness base and strangely enough have found a way to get running in from time to time.  This heat is getting to me, I have coped by staying inside as much as possible. The following are the overall stats for today 7.62 miles in 1:33:27 for a a 12:16 minute per mile pace.  I was proud to get the workout in today. Thank you Jesus. Have a blessed weekend-- off to the Poconos and then Maine Lord willing!

The Walking Dead

I woke up to light rain and a sheet of humidity. I think since I am upping my strength training to make up for missed workouts while I am away at the beginning of next week is draining my energy. My times have been slow-- but I am ok with it.  I did 9.04 miles in 2:08:53 for a 14:16 minute walking pace per mile. Doing squats this early inthe week I think is making a difference in slower times. Blessed to have health to workout. My wife had her first iron transfusion today. Praying for my precious wife. God Bless!

Kaitland's Birthday

I was really tired after a hard and long day yesterday.  I did 9.02 miles in 2:07 for a 14:05 minute per miles walking pace.  I saw a walker and a couple of girls running as I did he Longwood /Medford loop again this morning.  It was a very comfortable 63 degree morning.  I am looking forward to fall temps -- still my favorite time of the year to train minus the darkness.  Not much more to say, God is great!

Happy 20 th birthday Katie!

Mundane Monday

I have to say that my workouts this summer have lacked motivation. Motivation is way overrated. Most days that I head out the door it is totally devoid of motivation.  It's as simple as this, if I want to maintain my current weight and fitness then I have to stick to the workouts.  I pick workouts that I can complete if I simply put in the time and at least a token amount of effort.  I don't ever kill myself in a workout. At times I will push myself a bit, but I never do a workout that I dread. If I dread something I eventually will avoid what I dread.  Today I did the Logwood/Medford loop doing9.04 miles in 9.04 for a 13:48 minute per miles walking pace.  The temp was 70 degrees at 5:02 start time. Have a blessed day!

Moving Along Faster in My New Shoes

I did the Ridge Loop, getting out at 4:56 am.  I got walking shoes for the first time and I did my best time for awhile.  It was a comfortable 57 degrees.  I did 9.23 miles in 2:00:44 for a 13:05 minute. Per mile speed walking pace.  I'm not fast, but I am consistent.  When I look back in the past I cannot approach.  What I once did , but. I am just as strong with the waits , and I get the distance in-- but I ama walker now.  My knees no longer feel beat up, and I am not pulling muscles.  Next week, Lord willing, I will get a few miles in out in Bloomsburg, Pa.  Pennsylvania is my Maine away from Maine.  The unusual weekend post.  My wife Charlotte did a great job of presenting God's Word in.  Church this morning. Good Night and God Bless!

Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday

It has been comfortable in the mornings thanks to temps in the 60s.  I have gotten out later, as I am just allowing myself to be lazy.  The summer at home has been busy. It's really surprising how much there is to do at home.  I know for me that when school starts the mad rush, the commute will be back and the opportunities that I have now will not exist.  My regret is that I have not seen my two daughters and my grandson up in Maine this summer.  Here are the stats Tuesday- 9.24 miles in 2:04:17 for a 13:17 minute per mile pace.  Wednesday- 9.09 miles in 2:02:41 for a 13:30 minute per mile pace. Thursday 9.04 miles in 2:03:48 for a 13:42 minute per mile pace.  Tues- Ridge Loop We'd- Randall Extra Plus  Thursday- Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop.   Thankful for time with my loved ones! God is good and able!

Finally

This morning I was pleasantly surprised to see the temperature at 68 degrees.  I was a bit groggy when I woke up , but after sitting and drinking a cup of coffee I was kind of ready to go.  I did the Ridge Loop wanting to seek the solitude and quiet of this loop.  I saw a rabbit, a few large turkeys, and several deer.  I ended up doing 9.25 miles in 2:10:12 for a 14:04 minute per mile walking pace.  I was fine with just being slow as motivation has escaped me lately. Will blog more tomorrow- God Bless!

H-ate

It was a sultry 73 degrees. Rain is coming and you wear the air like a hot towel.  I ran 5 of the miles and walked the last 4.  I have spent my energy this week in the heat and humidity.  Today baby Violet Rae comes home-- yay!  I did 9.02 miles in1:53:04 for a 12:32 minute pace.  I felt accomplished just getting the workouts in this week.  Well, my grandchildren are beckoning me-- God Bless!

New Day--New Life

I am blogging just after the birth of my fourth grandchild Violet.  You never know what will happen in a day.  This morning I did the Longwood Loop, doing 9.08 miles in 2:06:51 for a 13:59 minute per mile walking pace.  It was a bit cooler which at 4:56 am is still a bit warm.  I am currently watching my granddaughters Ryleigh and Ruby and will go to see my daughter and the baby after my wife gets home from the hospital. Well, gtg, God is good!

Nice Start

I got out at 4:46 am at a temp of 72 degrees.  My brain was thinking overtime this morning. Life changes and trying to handle change proactively with godly wisdom requires thought and prayer. I did the Longwood Loop again doing 2:02:33 hours covering 9:04 miles at a 13:33 minute per mile walking pace.  I saw turkey's, rabbits, and deer. The heat is annoying ,but we know in the northeast that it will pass. Have a blessed day!

Friday/Monday

The heat has been consistent as well as the humidity. On Friday I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.16 miles in 2:04:17 for a 13:34 minute per mile walking pace. Today I did 9.04 miles in 2:02:43 for a 13:35 minute per mile pace on the Longwood Loop. The Longwood is my hillier loop while the other loops with the exception of the figure 8 are relatively flat. I usually see a rabbit or two and deer as well. Some days I see turkey's.  On Friday I saw lots of bikers as I got out about an hour later.  My wife and I took a day trip to Shelter Island on Friday. Shelter Island is about as close to Maine as I can get here on Long Island. My wife and I saw a lady trying not to get a farmers tan on a remote beach. I kept my eyes upward as we approached. We finished the day with a bite to eat in Greenport.  I had a fried flounder sandwich which is the only seafood worth eating here on the Island. Well , maybe a Mets game tonight-- God Bless!

Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday in July

Tuesday 9.2 miles in 2:05:30 for a 13:39 minute per mile pace on Randall.
Wednesday 9.16 in 2:04:51 for a 13:38 minute per mile pace on the Ridge/Woodlot loop
Thursday 9.01 in 2:01:23 for a 13:28 minute per mile pace on Lonwood/Medford/Kastal

The weather has been much less humid.  Life has kept me busy, but I definitely enjoy not having the commute to Roosevelt.  Last night Kim, Jace, Charlotte and I went to Adventureland for the evening. I do the fun non-scary rides-- I used to do nothing-- progress!  Ericka is due with her third daughter soon. Looking to The Lord for help during today and everyday as I am in need of his help. Have a blessed day!

Can't Take the Heat

It was a very humid 72 degrees at 4:59 am.  I feel alright as I plod along the early morning streets of Ridge. I saw a rabbit and a few deer around and about.  The last week I find that it takes me awhile to recover from the humidity of the workout. I did the Longwood Loop doing 9.04 miles in 2:00:46 for a 13:22 minutes per miles.  I am not made for humidity-- I wilt.  Off to get this day started! God. Bless!

Thursday/Friday

These were two hot and humid days. Yesterday I did the Ridge Loop doing 9.07 miles in 2:03:51 for a 13:39 minute per mile pace.  Today I did a combination of the standard loop and the Randall Loop for 9.21 miles in 1:59:54 for a 13:01 minutes per mile.  Today I had to stop by the house which forced me to alter my route a bit.  Now I am taking it easy recovering from the humid workout which definitely slows my recovery. Looking forward to a trip to Montauk tomorrow with Jace. Have a blessed day!

Last School Day for Me

I did 9.01 in 2:04:49 for a 13:50 per mile pace.  I got up a bit before 5 and leisurely made my way out the door on this humid morning.  I did the Ridge Loop.  I noticed some early road construction on Ridge Road.  This morning I saw a couple of young bucks on a front lawn on Raynor Road.  I also saw a good sized turtle on Ridge.  The wooded areas are great for privacy, but not so good for horse flies.  I turned my cap on backwards so the flies could not land on the back of my neck.
I am looking forward to my wife arriving here around 2:30 so that we can head out after work for southern New Jersey. Have a blessed day! This marks the last post on this old work computer:)

Rainy Tuesday

It was a drizzly morning--muggy and warm.  I felt the squats from last night.  I just did not feel like pushing things any more than what I did.  I just feel like babying myself, but at the same time I know that I can do the workout if I just keep the legs moving.  I did 8.8 in 2:06:46 for a 14:16 minute per mile pace. Trying to get a bit ahead of my strength work so that I do not have to make up a bunch when I get back from vacation.  Have a blessed day all!

Monday Moving

I did the Longwood Loop on this last Monday of this doing 8.73 miles in 1:55:35 for approximately a 13:15 minutes per mile walking pace.

Lord willing this is the week that my wife and I head to southern New Jersey for a couple of days and nights.  Have a very blessed day!

Hare Raising Experience

I got out this morning in good season--thankfully for me I could start an hour later thanks to an hour later start time for work.  It is a sad day with 15 people losing their jobs at my work.  I decided to do the Ridge Road Loop--doing 8.76 miles in 1:59:30 for a 13:39 minute per mile pace.  The temperature was comfortable and the skies were clear. Next week at this time Lord willing I will be in New Jersey with my wife. Looking to the Lord for His direction!  Have a blessed day!

Final Stand(until next year)

Today June 23, 2016 is the last day of school with the students for this school year.  My first last day as a teacher took place sometime early June in 1988 at Eastport Elementary School.  Back then I had no girlfriend, no children, and I was getting ready to head down to Camden to work for the summer.  It's interesting the path that the Lord puts you on.  I've gone from rural Eastport to the hood in Roosevelt on Long Island.
This morning I had my 5 Hour Energy and small cup of coffee and headed out the door.  I was not as fast as yesterday, but I had a good workout on the Longwood/Medfor Loop.  I did 8.75miles in 1:58:41 for a 13:34 minute per mile pace.  It was another comfortable morning at 57 degrees.  Off to start the work day--God Bless!

Good Pace

I was a little discouraged as I got out the door later than I had hoped.  I decided to do the figure 8 extra plus.  The temp was a comfortable 57 degrees in dry and sunny conditions.  When you go fast you think and daydream less during the workout as the focus is strictly on pace.  I did 8.71 miles in 1:51:35 for a 12:49 walking pace.  My wife is taking a trip to the doctors as her poison ivy is spreading.  This is the last full day with the students.  I will miss them--but it is time for summer vacation. Have a blessed day!

Thunder Tuesday

I was surprised to see lightning lighting up the sky.  Rain was in the forecast, but I was hoping to avoid it.  I headed out on the Ridge loop. My pace was decent on this 72 degree muggy morning.  About 3 miles into the workout the skies opened up.  The next 3 miles I got soaked.  I was glad that I put my phone ina plastic sandwich bag.  I did 8.85 miles in 1:58:33 for a 13:24 minute per mile pace. This poison ivy is finally going away.  I'm glad that I am not too allergic to the stuff, unfortunately my wife is allergic.  Had Kindergarten graduation earlier this morning--what a nice time.  Have a blessed day!
Blurry because of the sandwich bag,but you can see how wet it was.

Last Week (with the kid)

I enjoyed Father's Day with my family. Being a father is a blessing!  This morning it was a comfortable 59 degrees as I did the Longwood/Medford Loop.  I did 8.73 miles in 2:00:44 for a 13:50 per mile walking pace.  The way I looked at it --for a no motivation Monday--today was not a bad effort.  My wife and I have experienced the wonders of poison ivy and how quickly that it spreads.  Hopefully we can get over this soon. Have a most blessed day!  Here are a couple of pics from this morning,

A Sign of the Times

I decided to seek the solitude of the Ridge Loop.I felt a good groove as I walked along on Raynor Road and progressed along the streets of Ridge.  I got out at 4:19 at 59 comfortable degrees.  I happened to notice a stopped car which was unusual for this stretch of Ridge Road.  I noticed as I passed further along a set of three signs.  The first read-- " I miss you and love you"  the second read " I love you you are the only one for me Liz"  the third " I love you and you are the only one for me".  This is definitely a desperate move which in my opinion is doomed.  On another note I did 8.85 miles in 8.85 miles in 1:58:32 for a 13:24  minute per mile pace.   On to other things.  Have a blessed day!

Another Good Day

I headed out the door at about the same timeand went at about the same pace on the same route as yesterday.

The top picture is a bit blurry that probably is representative of my mood at the time shows how dark it is at 4:30am.  The bottom picture shows a couple of my friends that greet me at about the same spot every morning.  I did 8.76 in 1:58:58 for a 13:35 minute per mile pace. Looking forward to going away for a couple of days with my lovely wife for our 6 th anniversary.  God Bless You Richly!

Happy Thoughts

I headed out at around 4:25 am.  It was a comfortably cool and dry 55 degrees--perfect.  I decided to do the Longwood/Medford/Kastal Loop.  I saw a number of deer moving around.  Their fur looks reddish this time of year.  I had better leg turnover this morning doing 8.69 miles in 1:57:46 for a 13:33 minute per mile pace. I had positive thoughts for usual this morning which was a good thing.  A little less than two weeks now of school.  Getting back to the things of work. God is Good!

Old Faithful

I have been going out the door and just doing whatever route I feel like doing without little thought ahead of time.  I decided to do the figure 8 extra plus route for the first time in awhile.  I didn't have the best foot turnover, but my knees were tender after running for 3 1/2 miles yesterday--so walking it was.  It was nice to be back on this old route which dominated my earlier workouts here in Ridge.  My energy is o.k. for my workouts , but then I find that the rest of the day I just sort of float through.  It was a dry and coolish feeling 59 degrees.  I did 8.73 miles in 2:01:14 for a 13:53 minute per mile walking pace.  Beautiful day here on Long Island.  I am learning to be content in my circumstances--have a blessed day!

Run to make up the Difference

We had a long work day after church yesterday--so I was dragging a bit on my pace on the Ridge Loop.  I decided to run the middle 3 1/2 miles which helped me to get home in good shape.  It was a dry and cool 55 degree clear day.  This is the second workout day in Ridge that I had to wear a jacket. I did 8.86 miles in 1:52:17 for a 12:40 minute per mile pace.  A little tired-- here are a few picture--God Bless You!

Sorry for the repeat picture--See you tomorrow--Lord Willing!

Beautiful Fall-Like Friday

I got out a couple of minutes earlier.  I had a decent night's sleep.  A bit rushed with PD coming up. I did 8.74 in 1:59:47 for a 13:42 minute per mile pace.  Thought I had photos, but something happened .  Have a blessed day!

Feeling Like Fall

I did the Ridge Loop this morning.  The turkeys were out on this dry and cool spring morning.  I settled into a nice comfortable walking pace. I enjoyed the solitude and quiet of this loop-- I find myself listening for the Lord's voice as I walk this loop.  I did 8.85 miles in 2:04:31 for a 14:05 minute per mile walking pace.  It was 54 degrees which felt cool considering the warm weather we have been having.  I will put some pics up at another time.  This computer is kind of finicky right now.  Have a blessed day!

Eastport/Ridge Photos

Here are photos of my workouts in Eastport on Friday and Saturday --last week.  The last three photos are from the Longwood Loop on Monday.  Enjoy

Comfortable Wednesday

It was a comfortable morning with a chill in the air.  I did the Longwood loop again.  I had some running portions again.  My overall stats are off as I forgot to hit stop when I finished my workout so I had around 9 minutes of wasted time.  I did 8.83 miles in 1:58:13 for a 13:23 minute per mile walking pace.  I think the miles would have been under 13 minutes per mile.  It was 61 degrees this morning.Have a blessed day!

Friday/Saturday- Eastport, Monday/Tuesday-Ridge

Just a quick update.  I will try to put some pictures up later.  Friday-9.3 in 2:01:42 for a 13:05 minute per mile pace  Saturday- 9.33 miles in 1:56:11 for a 12:27 minute per mile pace. Monday- 8.75 in 2:00:25 for a 13:45 minute per mile pace.  Tuesday- 8:75 in 1:55:18 for a 13:10 minute per mile pace.  I have been throwing in various running segments to shorten my workout times. Just trying to stay on track even when things get hectic.  It was great to get back to Eastport to attend my daughter's graduation.  It was nice to talk to old friends.  It was especially nice to have my wife with me.  Eastport will always feel like home.  Have a blessed day--God Bless you!

Bright, Clear, Comfortable on the First Day of June

I got out on seemingly less sleep.  Tomorrow morning when I wake up I will be waking up in Hope, Maine==Lord willing.  I would like to get in two workouts in Maine--but it might be just one--not sure exactly what will transpire.  Yesterday was a long day, picking my in-laws up at JFK.  It was a slow commute home.  Today after work, me, Char, and Kim are heading up to Hope, Maine.
Back to the workout.  I felt a bit tired, but the pace was decent.  Today was the first day this week that I heard the turkeys.  They don't seem to be as active in hot weather.  It was a comfortable 61 degrees--the rest of the week will be in the 40's--but I will be dressed for it.  I did 8.84 miles in 1:59:46 for a 13:33 minute per mile pace.
This is Kastal about 1.5 into the workout. Pretty skies.
This is a pic taken just before I turn around on Ridge road.  Pretty place.  Have a blessed day!

Monday/Tuesday

I got up at my usual time on Monday even though it was Memorial Day.  It was a warm rainy morning and the streets were unusually quiet.  I did 8.82 miles in 2:00:46 for a 13:42 minute per mile pace on the Longwood Loop.  This morning I did 8.85 miles in 2:02:18 for a 13:49 minute per mile pace on the Ridge Loop.
The Longwood hill on a rainy early Monday morning.
In the woods from Ridge Road on Monday.
Heading up Ridge Road this morning-Tuesday

God Bless--have a great day!
