I headed out this Monday morning knowing that I have a shortened work day as I have a podiatrist appointment today. I don’t like to take time off, but it’s nice to have a little change of routine. It’s funny how that spare time gets filled with other things. I did the Randall plus 2 x Ryan for 6.87 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I hope to do hex bar deadlifts and weighted bench presses later. Have a blessed day!

Not Quite Right
Today was a day that a lot of little issues came to a head and seemed like a big issue. I have been feeling on a different page than my wife. She has so much going on with her mother and the non-stop nature of her life. I also am just plain tired. My stomach has been feeling really uncomfortably gassy. All these things together had me feeling like giving up. I just didn’t even feel like trying to help anyone either. The only thing that I know is to keep going—-but sometimes it isn’t easy. I did 6.61 miles, did 3 x GP curls/presses. I may do core trainer presses, goblet squats, and the fabulous 40. We will see if I get it all in. I am still off in how I feel. Lord I need your help to feel better!-please!

Saturday Start
Charlotte was up early to go on a fun day trip with her friends. Once she stirs, I find that it’s just as easy to get up as to go back to sleep. I decided to do the Woodlot plus 7 x Woodlot hill, and Ridge with 3 x Ryan Avenue for 7.61 miles, the fab 40, hex bar deadlifts, 3 x GP bench presses, and 1 x weighted bench presses. I have leisurely gotten things done here, inside and outside. Looking forward to Charlotte coming home— although it will be in an exhausted state. God bless!

May 1
I definitely have noticed the fatigue this week. In my younger days I would fight through the fatigue and keep doing the regular workouts. Now, I try to recognize my tiredness and back off a smudging. Today I did the 2 x Woodlot and 2 Woodlot hills each lap for 6.32 miles , the fab 40 , and 3 x GP curls/presses. I’m not sure if I will do a set of core trainer presses and goblet squats or not. My lower back has been sore this week. I have been trying to work around it. I have a doctor’s appointment at two today, so I am taking a half day medical. I have a podiatrist appointment Monday afternoon. I think the half days will help me stay as fresh as I can. I picked Ryleigh up from youth group at 9 last night. I am blessed as a grandparent to be able to be involved in my grandchildren’s lives. Those trips also help me stay young.

Different Groove
I woke up to my alarm this morning. I have slept pretty soundly since I have been pleasantly tired at night. This morning I decided to kind of change up my morning routine in subtle ways. I have an order of preparation for my workout which I changed up a bit. I also eliminated my ab workout. I did the Longwood Loop doing 6.48 miles, I did one set of weighted bench presses for 10 reps fairly easily. I found that by changing my benching slot and groove that I was able to bench and lockout without shoulder discomfort. I then did 2 sets of GP bench presses. Thankfully my weight was down this morning. I still am holding at this weight. It will be interesting to see how my doctor advises me tomorrow. Have a blessed day friends!

Alarmed?
This is the first morning in a while that I slept through my alarm. Fortunately, I woke up about 8 minutes after and was able to to stay with my normal routine. I did back off on my workout a bit and did 2 x Woodlot loop with an extra hill up and back each lap for 6.3 miles, I did the fab 40 , and 3 x GP curls/presses. I hope to do goblet squats later and as an option, maybe the core trainer press. I am a bit tired and may keep backing off a bit for the rest of the week. I had a nice talk with my mom and dad on the way to work. God bless you!

Really Tired
This was a morning that I felt sleepy and listless. I actually strongly considered taking the day off. I however, made a decision to start my day and see if momentum took over. Fortunately, as I went along it seemed okay to keep going. I have been kind of in a worrying thoughts state of mind. That happens usually when I am tired and have issues that I am unsure how to handle. I have had some right foot sensitivity for some time now. I will seek help from a podiatrist soon. I did 6.48 miles on the Longwood Loop, the fabulous 40, hex bar deadlift, and 3 x GP bench presses. I hope to do a set of weighted bench presses later. I will take this day moment by moment. Have a blessed day.

Early Going
I woke up before my alarm, but remained relaxed for as long as I could. I used to get frustrated when I woke up so early, but now I just pray and keep going forward. I am trying to keep my eyes going forward. I did 6.5 miles on the Longwood loop, did the fabulous 40, did 1 x core trainer presses/rows, and 2 x GP curls/presses. I hope to do a set of goblet squats later. I am grateful for the workouts and the opportunity to pray in the quietness of the early morning!

Sunday in the Cool
I got out a bit later as I knew that I didn’t have to go to o Starbucks. I did the Randall Loop. My legs were feeling the strain from the day before. I did 6.33 miles, I did the fabulous 40, 3 x GP bench presses. I may do a hex bar deadlift or/and a weighted bench press. We went on a nice little hike with the grandkids. Today the Lord answered a prayer for my daughter Katie in a very explicit manner. Thank you Lord for being faithful and trustworthy.

A Saturday March in the Rain
I headed out late in the morning as my wife left for a baby shower. These walks have proven to be very helpful to me over the years. It seems as if I am the most at ease as I am out for a walk. By the grace of God have been able to continue on with these workouts that I so enjoy. I did 9.4 miles doing 2 x Ridge/Woodlot with a backtrack to the house to change into my rain clothes. My headphones went dead so I also had to replace those. I did the fab 40, 3x GP Curls/Presses, 1 x Goblet Squats, and 1 x core trainer presses. Have a blessed day!

Tired
Our furnace stopped working last night and I had to go get some fuel . This was done at around 10 PM. I finished the day tired and frustrated. I woke up at my usual early time. I changed up my Longwood Loop a bit. I was going at a good pace, but I was just cranky. I did the fabulous 40, 3 x GP bench presses, and a hex bar deadlift. I am a a bit out of sorts . At least it is an easier day. My wife and I are going out to eat tonight. I am looking forward to it. God bless you!

Tired but Joyful
I was feeling a bit tired as I woke up early this morning. I know that I will always enjoy my walk once I hit the dark quiet roads of early morning Ridge. I did the Longwood loop doing 6.5 miles, the fab 40, 1 x core trainer presses/rows, and 2 x GP curls/presses. I hope to get a set of goblet squats in later. Have a blessed day!

Positive Trend
I don’t always put a lot in my blog posts. I try to be consistent, even when I don’t have the time or the interest. I have dialed my training down, but my workouts have been regular. My workouts right now are not a major task to complete. I do feel good when the work is done. When the workouts are shorter, the interest is higher and so is the enthusiasm. I actually look forward to my workouts where they are not long or tedious. Today I did the Longwood doing 6.51 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I may or may not do deadlifts and one set of weighted bench presses. We have Bible Study tonight. It makes for a long day, but it’s always good to see the Lord at work. Have a blessed day!

A Change of Scenery
I had a decent night’s rest. I was actually woken up by my alarm this morning. I quickly went into my morning routine. Even though I am initially tired when I wake up, I slowly wake up as I do my morning routine. I did the Randall route plus 2 x Ryan avenue for 6.88 miles, I did the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP curls/presses. I hope to do a set of core trainer presses and rows and a set of goblet squats. Have a blessed day!

Cold Returns
It was back to seasonal weather today. The temps were in the high thirty’s and there was a frost on the ground and on the car. Time for cool weather clothing again. This is why it is important to look at the weather forecast. The pace was decent for a Monday. This was one of those days that underneath it all I felt a bit apprehensive about everything. Part of that attitude is fatigue and partly due to the lifetime issues that go through my mind and that I pray about. By God’s strength, I try to stay consistent. I did the Longwood Loop for 6.46 miles, did the fabulous 40, did the hexbar deadlift, and 3 x GP bench presses. I hope to do a set of weighted bench presses later. I’m looking forward to havmy daughter and granddaughters come over for supper tonight. Kind of lethargic now. Have a blessed Monday!

Sunday Reset
I have been tired and out of sorts. Yesterday, I was tired and out of my element with company at our house. I haven’t missed a walk in a while, but yesterday it was necessary with a lot to do. I did mow the lawn and do my strength work. Today I did the Woodlot Loop with 7 x Woodlot Hill and the Ridge Loop with 3 x Ryan Avenue for 7.69 miles and 1 x core trainer presses/rows. Today I will attempt to finish my strength work including the goblet bed squat. I am hoppy lay low for a bit now. Have a blessed day!

In A Funk
I just seem to be spending so much time alone this year. Charlotte has been so busy and of course she has a lot that she is dealing with. I’m not complaining, I just miss the feeling of being connected with her. Today I did the Longwood loop again. I wasn’t out early as I had hoped. I did 6.49 miles, did the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP curls/presses. I hope to do a set of core trainer rows and presses and a set of bed goblet squats this evening. Have a blessed day friends!

Daze
I have been waking up a bit early the last few mornings. I am kind of tired, but too awake to go back to sleep. My wife is in the froze of hot and cold flashes. My life constantly shifts from a slightly lesser hot than hell, to a blast from the arctic. I am just trying to enjoy my workouts and to be fit. I am no longer striving to be Mr. Bod. I did 6.5 on the Longwood Loop, the fab 40, 3 x GP bench presses, and one set of hex bar deadlifts. I hope to do a set of weighted bench presses after school.
Have a blessed day friend!

It’s a Wrap
I had been feeling pain in my tarsal bones in my right foot lately.
I decided to wrap it with medical tape in a broader manner. This measure seemed to ease the pain in my right foot. I ended up doing the 8 x Raynor Hill interval work, the 2 x Core trainer rows and presses, and the fab 40. I’m tired now. Have a blessed day!

Tuesday: Light and Positivity
I woke up earlier even though I have been a little fatigued. The news and the feeds are negative, so I haven’t spent a lot of time on them. I got into God’s Word quickly to refresh my spirit. I did the Longwood Loop again. I have been slower the last couple of days. I did 6.49 miles, did the fab 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I hope to do a set of weighted bench presses and hex bar deadlifts later— although it’s not a definite. I have been consistent, although not spectacular. I am grateful for the gifts that the Lord gives!

Sunday/Monday on Longwood
Sunday- I was determined to get an earlier start so that I could get the work in before I teach Sunday School. I headed out just after 7. I did 6.47 miles. I was definitely slower today. I did the fab 40, 1 x weighted bench presses, 1 x hex bar deadlifts, and 2 x GP bench presses. I was able to mow and trim my yard and put out the lawn furniture.
Monday- I did 6.51 miles after a slightly later start due to poorly charged ear buds. I did the fab 40, 3 x GP curls/presses. This was my first day back to school after my vacation. I am slightly tired, but besides that, everything has gone fine. Have a blessed day.

Saturday Back Home
I was feeling a little laggy this morning after a lot of travel and keeping on the move in my Maine visits. I was on the tired and grumpy side, but I am on the mend. I did the Ridge/Kastal plus 3 x Ryan and then Woodlot loop and 7 x Woodlot Hill. I did the fab forty and 3 x GP presses. I hope to do 2x core trainer presses and bed goblet squats. My trips to Maine are special, but it’s easier to operate from home. Have a blessed Saturday friend!

I am on the Gerry now heading to Long Island. I am really missing Charlotte. It seems like she has been unusually busy. I feel like her mind is constantly occupied by her super hectic schedule. I feel like one on her very busy to do list. I love
Her dearly and hope that she is still I to me.

Cool Start to Vacation Week
Today I woke up at my usual time, but I remained in bed for another half hour just resting. I knew that I didn’t have to rush as my ferry departure time was 10 and that wasn’t bad even though I had to stop at Rebekah’s Starbucks to pick up food, drink, and travel packages for Maine. It’s always a mixed bag when leaving alone on a trip. The best trips are with Char, but there are advantages to traveling alone. I did the original Longwood plus the Cliffwood/Scenic Hills mini loop finishing by Dunkin Donuts for 7.24 miles, the fab 40, 1 set of weighted bench presses, 1 x hexbar deadlifts, and 2 x GP bench presses. Lord willing, I am just shooting for consistency now. I get a few longer walks at times, but generally shoot for a little less mileage, so that I continue to look forward to my workouts. Char looks out for me and is always thinking ahead. I do miss her when either I am gone or she is gone. She is always on the go with many plans and many contacts— and so that is how she operates. I do not have those same capabilities or desires. I hope that in my own way I am as useful to her as she is to me. Have a blessed day friend!

We originally were trying to get in 6 miles, but we had a good pace going so we ended up going for 8 headed towards Wading River. We ended up doing 8.09 miles. I went to Starbucks, Rebekah went home, and I did the fabulous 40, 2 x GP curls/presses + 2 sets of standing GP curls and 1 x weighted core trainer presses.
Saturday- I did 7.53 miles doing the Woodlot Loop plus 7 x Woodlot Hill and The Ridge loop and 3 x Ryan Avenue, plus 3x GP bench presses, the fabulous 40, and 1 x weighted bench presses.
Sunday- I went on the Rocky Point trail headed west to Miller Place for 8.27 miles doing, the fab 40, 3 x GP curls/presses, 3 x standing GP curls, and 1 x weighted core trainer presses.
This has been a busy time with plenty of odds and ends to do. Looking for the Lords protection and direction. God bless you my friends!

Holy Week
This was the first day of Easter and Spring vacation. I have started to watch The Chosen again. It is about the final events leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. I am a visual learner. Watching the events of Holy Week is for me much more powerful than reading about them. I think that many modern Christians would have trouble supporting Jesus in the events leading up to the crucifixion. Especially when He took a whip and cleaned out the temple. The pope recently said that Jesus opposes all violence. I believe that the pope is greatly mistaken. Lord willing, I hope to keep watch The Chosen this Holy Week. I want my heart to feel anew the true spirit of Easter.
I did 7.59 miles doing the Woodlot loop plus 7 x Woodlot hill and 2 x Ridge plus 3 x Ryan Avenue, plus the fabulous 40, 1x the hex bar deadlift, and 3 x GP bench presses. I hope to later do 1 x weighted bench presses.
I hope to walk with my daughter Rebekah tomorrow. Have a blessed day friends!

Warm and Breezy
I woke up knowing that this was my last day of the week at school. My plan is to go to Maine next Monday through Friday. There are things to do between now and then, but it’s welcome duties and errands. I haven’t been changing my vacation training that much from my regular training. I am just striving for consistency and am so grateful for it. I did the hill workout today with 8 x Raynor Hill for 6.39 miles, the fab 40, and 3 x GP presses and curls. I will attempt bed goblet squats and core trainer presses/rows if my left trap feels okay. I have been feeling a sense of purpose at school. So I am not minding my work so much right now. There is a good groove to life right now. I hope to come out of vacation with a sense of good family time in Maine and at home. Also, the change of pace is usually refreshing. Thank you Lord for blessing and using me for your purposes.

Going Through the Motions
I woke up , drank my 5 hour energy, did my devotions, and eventually made my way out to the kitchen to get dressed for my workout. I had a difficult time staying focused and a difficult time being positive. I struggle when Char is gone for a long period, especially on this all men’s trip. I fully trust her, but I just don’t like it much. I love her and that causes me to support her. I did 6.47 miles, did the fab 40, did 2 sets of GP bench presses, 1 set of weighted presses, 1 set of goblet bed squats. That’s it now, have a blessed weekend!

Rocking on Randall
It was another lonely start this morning which is both a blessing and a curse. I don’t have to be as careful getting around in the morning. I can turn on lights and listen to Fox News as I get ready after my devotions. I did 6.87 miles on the Randall Loop plus 2 x Ryan Ave., the fabulous 40, 2 x core trainer presses/rows, and 1 x GP curls/presses. I was one minute late for work. Oh well! God bless!
Wednesday, March 25, 2026
Another nice Morning
Today I was back at my usual workout time and distance: it was 37 degrees and clear. I decided to do the Longwood Loop the Dunkin Donuts option for 6.51 miles, the fab 40, 3 x GP bench presses, and one set of 20 kettlebell to bed squats. I made it to work in plenty of time. Feeling kind of tired. I apologize for my brief blogs. I have plenty going on, but just not feeling like writing it all down. I hope that your day is blessed!
Tuesday, March 24, 2026
Cool and Clear
I was able to get out a little later and go longer this morning since I am taking care of 2 of my granddaughters while my daughter goes to work. I did my old long Longwood/Ridge/Kastal Workout for 9.19 miles, the fab 40, 3 x GP curls/presses , and probably 1 x core training presses/rows. I am easing my way into the day. God bless you!

Rainy Monday Morning
This is my first full day with Charlotte away on another mission trip which she loves. I woke up before my alarm went off. I could hear the rain outside on this late winter morning. I did the Longwood Loop with the short hill out and back and staying on Smith Road for 6.31 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I’m a bit off and a bit lonely. There has been a lot of time living at home a lot because church and family take us away from each other. I do miss her and her company. God bless you my friend!

Early for Sunday Morning Workout
I woke up at 3:30 to take Charlotte to church to catch the van to the DR for a mission’s trip. She always leads these trips as it is one of the loves of her life. I backed into a truck parked across the street. Fortunately, I didn’t damage his truck. It still was a disappointing event. I did 8.3 miles following taking Char to the airport. I also did the fab 40 and 3x curls/Presses.I hope also to do a set of core trainer presses/curls. I am so tired right now. God bless you!

Romping on Randall
This morning my inspiration came from today being Friday. I had a long day yesterday, but thankfully I had a positive mindset upon waking up. I just felt like doing Randall plus 2 x Ryan Avenue for 6.83 miles, the fab 40, 2 x core trainer presses/rows, 1 x GP curls/ presses. My grandson Oliver came down the stand gave me a hug. It was a nice way to start the day. God bless you friends. Happy Friday!

Longwood before a Long Day
I had a good Bible Study last night. I am looking at a second long day today with parent/teacher conferences ahead. I did the Longwood loop on a fairly cool morning. This loop is very quiet. I did 6.49 miles, the fab forty, and 3 x GP bench presses. Too many little kids around to write now. God bless!

To the Hill
Thankfully, I have been able to get around and get going in the morning despite the early start times. I have also been able to get to school at a decent time. It has been a busy yet good week with my daughter Kim and her family visiting with us. I hope to bring them to Bible study tonight. This morning I did the 8 x Raynor Hill plus a little extra hill segment for 6.45 miles, the fab 40, 2 x core trainer presses/rows, and 1 x GP curls/presses. It was a cool breezy morning with the temp in the 20’s. Today was a good change of pace. God bless!

Cold Refreshing Tuesday
I had a fairly decent night’s sleep and things went fairly straight forward for me this morning. Last night, the rain and the wind were ferocious. I had to bring our garbage can into the back yard. This morning I was welcomed by a raccoon who fortunately ran away when I stepped out of the door. The Longwood Loop has been the perfect loop for me so I hit it again. I did 6.5 miles, the fab 40, 1 x weighted bench press, and 2 x GP bench presses. The workout was comfortable. I actually like breezy overcast mornings. I had a good morning of prayer. I find that I need this time in the morning as it gives me the spiritual strength that I need for my family. Have a blessed day friend.

Positive Development
I had one of those mornings where the flow was there and things fell smoothly for me. It is nice to have mornings like this. It is an encouragement to keep going. The thing about this portion of my life is that I am not trying to always push my limits. This allows me to have a reserve when I need it. Today I did the Longwood loop again at a sub 18 pa e for 6.5 miles, did the fab 40, 3 x GP curls/presses while sitting on a pillow during curls to add resistance. Late on I hope to do a set of core trainer presses and possibly rows with a set of two of goblet squats going down to the bed and up. Praying for my granddaughter Ryleigh as she is not feeling well and has Covid. I just have that positive feeling today and am happy about it! God bless you my friend.

Smooth Going
I was pretty tired this morning. I am still getting used to this time change. I know that regardless of how tired I am when waking up, that once I get moving I usually make out just fine. I have been sticking to the Longwood Loop for 6.47 miles, the fabulous 40, 1 x weighted bench presses, and 2 sets of GP bench presses. Last night I did another set of core trainer presses and a set of goblet squats down to the bed. I had a good time of prayer this morning. My daughter turns 28 tomorrow.
Tuesday, March 10, 2026
Foggy Stroll
I was a bit more tired this morning, but commitment and habit got me out of bed and onto the street. I did 6.5 miles on the Longwood/Rolling Hills loop, plus the fab 40, and 3 x GP curls/presses. I may try some squats and core trainer presses later, Lord willing. This time change is taking some adjustment. Have a blessed day!
Monday, March 9, 2026
Sunday(Spring Ahead)/ Monday
Sunday- 6.30 on the Randall Loop, the fabulous 40, 1 set core trainer presses/rows, 2 sets GP curls/presses.
Monday- 7.55 on Longwood Loop by DD with 1 x Rolling Hills, 1 set weighted bench presses, 2 x GP bench presses and the fab 40.
I am finding that doing a little less mileage has helped my energy during the day and actually has made working out more enjoyable. The Lord cares about the little as well as the big.He gives ideas. All you have to do is surrender and seek Him!

Saturday Morning
This morning I woke up a bit earlier since my wife was making a birthday trip with friends into the city. I prioritized getting an oil change early over getting an early start on my walk. Fortunately, things went well. I even picked up a coffee and a sandwich before my walk after the oil change. I did the Woodlot loop with 7 Woodlot hills and I did the Kastal/Ridge loop with 3 x Ryan for 7.61 miles. I plan on doing the fab 40 and bench presses a bit later. Just taking it easy for a bit. I’m grateful for a good start!

I did 6.50 miles on the Longwood Loop plus Rolling Hills out and back, with the fab. 40, 1 super set of core trainer presses and rows, and 2 sets of GP curls. My shoulder and feet were feeling pretty decent. Warmer Times
I headed out the door and decided to do the Longwood Loop. I added an out and back back up Rolling Hill Drive plus the Dunkin Road near finish. I did 6.53 miles on a foggy overcast morning. I went back home and did the fab 40, 1 x weighted bench press, and 2 x GP bench presses. I had a good report at the doctor’s yesterday and a good Bible study. Today I have felt a bit out of it mentally. Kind of tired mentally I am grateful for the things that I have been able to do and am looking to the Lord for my daily bread.

Pain in the Neck
Last night I got very little quality sleep, although fortunately I did get some sleep. I had a major cramp in my trapezius muscle in my neck. It was painful and made getting comfortable impossible. I took a couple of Aleve which helped make things tolerable. My alarm went off super early, but I decided to keep my usual routine going despite getting next to no sleep. I did the Woodlot with 3 x the hill and the Kastal-Ridge Loop for 6.43 miles, the fab 40 , and 3 x GP Bench Presses. I still have some pain in my neck, but it’s tolerable for now. I am due to have a filling put in my tooth tonight after school. I am making it through the day thankfully! Be blessed my friends!

Today was one of those days where things flowed together nicely. I had a good time of Bible reading followed by a quick of getting ready for my walk. I did the 8 x Raynor Hill. I had a decent pace going today. I am not speed walking, just trying to keep a steady pace. I saw the dog walker today as he walks in about everything. I also did the fabulous 40 and 3 x GP curls/presses. I may try to do a set of core trainer presses or presses and rows. We’ll see. There is a lot going on in our world right now. I am grateful that the Lord is in control.

Longwood
I decided to try Longwood in the daylight, to check the readiness to walk on without slips. I did 6.23 miles, finding ice and a slip just off Smith Road. I did the shorter version going back on Smith Road to avoid more ice. When I got back I found that I had locked myself out of the house. With the help of my wife, I finally made it back inside. I did the fab 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I did an extra set of weighted bench presses after lunch. I may try one more set. Lord willing, going out for supper with friends later today. Have a body!

Randall Again
Friday- After sticking to Raynor Hill for the week and shoveling for 6 hours for the other workout, I decided to try another route as the roads were improving. I did the Raynor route plus an out and back going across Whiskey Road to the second telephone pole on the left and back. I did 6.71 miles, the fab 40, 1 x weighted bench press, and 2 x GP bench presses. My weight is slowly going down. With the Lord’s help, I trust that I will keep losing weight. I felt pretty good this week and I am grateful for that. Have a blessed weekend!

Wednesday- Thursday
Wednesday- I finally went back to school. The workout was snow free, but the commute was not. I have been doing the 8 x Raynor Hill since it is a reliable surface at a time when many roads are slippery and ice covered. I did 6.44 miles, did the fab 40, and did 3 x GP Bench presses. It was a good workout, but a slow commute. I am grateful for safety in both.
Thursday- I did 6.45 miles with 8 x Raynor Hill, the fab 40, and 3 x GP curls/presses. I may try a core trainer press later when I get home. It’s a short week, but it seems that I am playing catchup. I had a nice commute and chat with my brother today. I’m grateful that you take time to read this blog. I have been brief in my blog clips, but I try to give a gyst of what’s going on, even when I don’t have time for the details.

Blizzard-Raynor Hill
Monday- I slept in and watched TV with my wife as school was canceled due to the blizzard and heavy snow. My workout was the 6 hours of shoveling that I had to do to clear my house. My shoulders were so tired and my legs fatigued from pushing the snow up the steep snow bank. I wasn’t moving so fast when I came in from outside. I ate, hit the shower, then went to bed.
Tuesday- This morning I got out a bit later as I didn’t have school again. I did the Raynor hill times 8. I didn’t do the little out and back in Apple Court as it was too icy. I did the extra interval instead of doing 7 hill intervals for 6.33 miles. I am working on my 3 x GP curls/presses. I will do a fab 40 later. Just kind of relaxing now. So grateful for the time to recharge. Have a blessed day.

Back in Ridge
I enjoyed sleeping in my own bed. I could have stayed in bed , , but with bad weather coming I had to take advantage of the opportunity. It was nice being back on my old route. I did the Randall route plus 2 x Ryan Avenue for 6.85 miles, the fab 40, and 3 c GP curls/presses. Fatigue is hitting me now after church. No school tomorrow. God bless!

Last Workout on the Boat
I headed out a bit before 5 with an empty track for a short while. I do enjoy my morning workouts on the ship. The warm breeze hitting my face, surrounded by water. You notice familiar faces that do their workouts in your same timeframe. I made friends with a gentleman from Fort Lauderdale. He is a retired postman. We talked for a lap or so. I did 7.06 miles, the fab 40, and 3 x GP curls/presses. I have enjoyed my time on the boat and am looking to the transition to regular life. God bless.

Morning Before our last Shore Excursion
We are in the Dominican Republic. This morning’s walk I could see land most of the way. I got out earlier today, but it seems others did as well. I did 7 miles and finished getting coffee and tea and OJ on deck 15. I hope to get 3 sets of GP bench presses in and maybe a fab 40. I’m blessed to be able to get the work in. Several miles I did a 15 minute per mile pace. There are always aches and pains to be watchful of. Thank the Lord that He sees me through. A day at sea tomorrow and the finish in Fort Lauderdale.

Tuesday/Wednesday, Ship Shape
Tuesday- There was a lot of traffic on the deck. I did 6.77 miles, the fabulous 40 and 3 x GP bench presses. I ended up moving quite a bit on the boat.
Wednesday- I did 6.94 miles and made another friend Mike from Massachusetts. I hope to do the 3 x Gym Proloux Curls and presses. I got out earlier and fortunately, there was far fewer people. Writing this from the ship in San Juan. Have a blessed sunshiny day!

First Walk on the Boat
It’s always refreshing to start the cruise workouts. Each cruise is a bit of a different experience. My goal is 10k to 7 miles. I decided to stay closer to the 10 k.. There were a lot of people out on the track making it not quite as peaceful, but it still serves the purpose. It’s always nice to see the port from the ship as you arrive. I am planning to do my strength work later in the day. I did 6.54 miles with a temp around 72 with a nice breeze in places. I’m at see tomorrow so no internet. It’s nice to dress in summer gear for a few days and feel summer warmth in the winter. Thank you Lord! God bless you!

Finishing on the Hill
This morning I decided to a stay close to home doing the Raynor Hill 7 times including a warm up and cool down for 6.23 miles, the fabulous 40, 1 x weighted bench press, and 2 x GP bench presses. I am a little discouraged that the weight loss medication isn’t working. I will aim to be consistent with my eating and workouts. As I get older it is just harder to keep my weight down. Life is always full of challenges. Looking forward to Lord willing being in warmer weather next week with Charlotte. Tonight I am watching my mother in law as my wife and father in law do a comedy fund raiser at the church for our mission project. Have a blessed day!

Consistent
There was nothing unique about today’s workout, but it is a blessing to have the health to be consistent. Nothing in life can be taken for granted. So I thank God for the strength for the day. I did the Longwood loop doing 6.33 miles, the fabulous 40, 2 x core trainer press/rows, and 1 x GP curls/presses. Lord willing, one more day of training here before our cruise. Christ be glorified!

Icy Morning
I knew that there was a threat of slippery streets with a winter weather advisory for freezing rain. It was above freezing when I woke up, but the temperatures quickly took a dip below freezing. There were spots that were slippery, but I stayed on the side of the road where the gravel and grit were not washed away. I did 1 x Ridge, Whiskey, Raynor, and 1 x Ridge, Kastal, Raynor for 6.68 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I have Bible Study tonight. I have a lot going on, and somehow I feel a little off because of my new medication. I just feel a little different. I have a lot going on in my head, but I just can’t write it out. Have a blessed day friend.

A Spark in My Step
So far on my weight loss medication, I haven’t lost any weight, but I have increased my walking pace. I am confident that over time that I will lose weight and get to 190 or lower. Today I did the Randall Route plus1 x Ryan for 6.61 miles, the fabulous 40, 2 2 x core trainer presses/curls, and 1 x GP curls/presses. I have been in prayer for my son in law who was let go and doesn’t have a job, but he has 3 children and a wife. God is faithful, and we always have reason to pray! I have slowly started packing for our cruise this Saturday. Committing this and all to the Lord!

Foggy Forward
I woke up with an awake body , but a foggy mind. It was hard just to focus and think clearly. I had a shorter night’s rest as I watched until the end of the Super Bowl. I did the Longwood Loop for 6.33 at a good clip, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. It’s Charlotte’s Birthday today and we’re going out to eat tonight at the Indian Restaurant. Have a blessed day friends!

Good Finish
I was a little anxious this morning starting my new weight loss medication. You never know how your body will react to new medications especially when you have potential issues with them. I got out and did the Randall Route with one x Ryan avenue and one bathroom break for 6.75 miles, and 2 x GP Presses/Curls. I have been a bit behind on my morning schedule, but I am managing. So far, so good with my new medication. Super Bowl Sunday coming- Go Patriots!!

Early Start, Moving Like an Old Fart
I got out a bit early, but I just couldn’t get my body moving enough fast. I was on the slow side of average. Everything that I did this morning seemed to be in slow motion. The important thing is that the work is getting done. I did the Longwood Loop every mile in the 19’s doing 6.33 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I had a decent physical last night—- still pre-diabetic, but a little lower numbers. The doctor is putting me on a non GLP weight loss medication to help me get my weight down and lower my blood sugar. I’m grateful for the help of medicine! Have a blessed day friends!

Mini Me
This morning my alarm woke me up. I felt so tired. Everything that I did seemed to take effort. My Bible reading took forever to do. It took me a long time to get dressed. When I finally got out the door it was on the late side of normal. My pace was decent, but I had to make one pit stop. I got back later and modified my work to the fab 40, 2 x 20 reps GP bench presses, and 6.75 miles on the Randall plus 1 x Whiskey to Kastal and back. Even though I’m a little behind, I’m grateful!

Back After It
I decided to try the Longwood Loop as it looks like there is enough of a shoulder on the road to walk on. I was surprised that the roads were nearly empty. I guess the cold wind chills have forced most people back into bed. As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t get ahead despite my early wake up time. I did 6.35 miles and 3 x GP curls/presses. Just too many layers of clothes and too many things to do. I am try to head into my physical at the best version of the present me on Wednesday, Lord willing . Have a blessed Monday!

A Little Extra
I have my yearly physical coming up on Wednesday, so I gave myself an extra workout this week. I don’t usually do 7 days, but I am enjoying getting outside in the freezing cold because I have plenty of cold weather gear. I’m hoping that maybe I Eve a pound lighter at my physical. I don’t have to teach at church so I have a little extra time. I did 6.31 miles and 3 x GP bench presses. This cold weather takes extra time and extra energy. I’m staying warm by the fire with my grandchild and stepson’s family at our house. Have a blessed day!

Freezing Cold Like Maine
I went into the day with mixed thoughts. I was wishing that I had the wherewithal to go to the hotel with Charlotte and the family, but I just didn’t have it in me. The new day however, brought new strength. I went into the 7 degree temperature glad to have the strength to walk the streets of Ridge. Although my heart is in Maine, I am in a place where the Lord has provided me with the things that I need and more. I did the Randall Route with 1 x Ryan, and 2 x Whiskey to Kastal for 7.04 miles , the fabulous 40, 2 x GP curls/presses, 1 x core trainer presses/ rows , and 1 x core trainer presses. The day ended fine. Thank you Lord!

Randall
I switched things up for today and it worked out just fine. I went
To my standard Friday workout of Randall Road. I needed a change of pace and the roads were fine. I did 6.37 miles, the fabulous 40, and I did 3 x GP bench presses. I’m tired now. My wife is taking Ericka and the girls and Amber and the kids to a nearby hotel with a pool. Kind of not sure what I will do. Have a blessed day!

Status Quo
I went into my morning thinking that I may try to do a different route, but I thought the better of it and stayed with my trusty two looper. On colder mornings there is so much prep involved, that extra time is needed. So many layers and accessories. The only change was that I changed the direction of my loop on the second lap. I noticed that the roads are clearer and that it’s slightly lighter at the end of my walk. I did 6.38 miles, the fab 40, and 3 x GP curls/presses. It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is Friday. Have a blessed day!

Better Roads
This morning I woke up before my alarm went off. The early start was needed to make up for the lagging behind that I did in other areas. When I went out, I found that Raynor Road was at least half tar exposed. I had a good time of prayer although I felt tired . I did the 2 x Ridge/Kastal/Raynor for 6.39 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I have had a good morning of teaching. Happy to be chasing my wife around. Have a blessed day!

A Walk and a Talk
I was able to head out later than usual thanks to a 9:00 am blood draw. I took half a sick day to accommodate my appointment.. I will head in just before 11. I have a dental appointment at 6 for a filling. I chose to do the 2 x Ridge/Kastal/Raynor because of the better footing after a snowstorm. I may keep with this route for the week. I talked with Dave Schreck on my final lap. It’s get have a fellow brother in the Lord on the street. I did 6.35 miles and 3 x GP curls/presses. I am now some laundry and a little TV with some leg work. I had a McDonald’s breakfast after my blood draw. It was the perfect treat. Have a blessed day friends.

The Workout before the Storm
I wasn’t planning on getting up early to workout, but I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. I was still kind of bothered and stirred by the happenings last night on what should have been a happy occasion. The truth is that there is a lot going on in this country and sometimes it hits home—- in this time from both directions. There are also some bothering things going on in our family. Last night, helped by our own character flaws it all came together. The result was, that everyone departed sad and upset and in some cases crying. The silent festering aftermath seems to be lingering today. By God’s grace we will get through and learn and get better. This morning, I was afraid to go out and awake my wife. But, I just couldn’t go back to sleep and I am pretty sure that tomorrow it will be difficult to work out, so my off day will be tomorrow. Today, I did the Randall Loop with 2 x Ryan Avenue for 6.87 miles. It was cold and clear for the first 3 miles and then I felt something hit my face. When a car crossed going in the other direction I could see a light snow falling. It was then that I was thankful that I went out for the workout. I listened some to the news, I listened to my devotional Bible reading, and I listened to Bible teaching. When I went home, I did 2 sets of Core trainer presses and rows. On the second set something happened with the bar and J dropped it with it glancing my surgically replaced knee. Fortunately, my fake knee is tougher than I expected and I feel no worse for the wear. Right now I’m not sure if I will finish with a set of weights or the Gym Proloux curls/presses. Either way, have a blessed Sunday!

Cold Saturday Morning
The weekly routine is off with a major storm headed this way hitting a major part of this country along the way. We went to a friend’s house last night with other couples also visiting. It was a good time of fellowship and a slightly later bedtime than usual. Charlotte left early to tape tomorrow’s church service. Me, I headed down the road for my old version of the Longwood Loop doing 8.44 miles and 3 x GP bench presses. I had a blood draw this morning, but despite drinking like crazy I didn’t give any blood. Back again on Tuesday. My daughter Ericka and my three granddaughters are coming along with my stepson and his family. Snowstorm and AFC Championship tomorrow. Have a blessed day.

Bright and Early on a Friday
I set my alarm two minutes earlier on a Friday. I try to be a bit ahead of schedule if I can. What usually happens is that the earlier time is wiped out by the fatigue factor. My doctor told me not to lift weights for 48 hours because of my broken blood vessel in my left eye. I did use my resistance band however for curls/presses. I did 6.60 miles , the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP curls and presses. We are expected to have a snow day for church and for school, so there is a lot of scurrying around in anticipation and preparation for the storm. This is a winter that might be more like winters in the past. Have a blessed weekend!

Good Workouts
I have been trying to change little things about my daily routine in the morning. I did the Longwood Loop again doing 6.31 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I suffered a broken blood vessel in my left eye. It doesn’t hurt, it just draws comments from my students. Too tired to write more! Good Night!

Real Winter
This year we are having a true winter with snow and cold weather. This morning I did 2 x Woodlot with 4 x Woodlot hill for 6.34 miles , the fabulous 40 , and 3 x GP bench presses. The streets were dry and clear after the weekend snow. I did extra praying this morning. The Lord brought to mind different people and different situations. Thank you Lord for the beauty and privilege of prayer to You!

MLK Walk
I kinda woke up, but I was feeling very comfortable just staying in bed and enjoying the latitude of a day off from school. I waited until I heard the plow go by to consider going out. I thought of the Bible verse that says “Rise up oh sleeper” and that’s what I did. I did the Randall Loop but did 3 x Whiskey to Kastal instead of 3 x Ryan Avenue because it appeared icy for 7.04 miles, the fab 40, 1 x core trainer press/bent row, 3 x GP curls/presses. I did my leg work and did a 1.85 mile hike with my granddaughter Ruby. I was able to run some errands also. Thank you Lord for your provision!

Snowy Sunday
This year has been a year of a true winter, or at least more like you expect out of winter. Originally, I wanted to attempt an 8 miler. I changed my thinking when I heard the forecast of black ice and snowfall. Instead I did the Longwood Loop without going on Niewood and finishing past Dunkin Donuts. I even ordered a protein Matcha which I picked up for the final half mile. I did 6.46 miles, the fab 40, 1 set of Bulgarian one leg dead lifts, 1 weighted bench press, and 3 x GP bench presses. I was able to shovel out the driveway and put salt down. Sometimes a good thing just walks our way. Listening to Bible radio. Church canceled, now just sitting back for now. God bless you!

Good & Early
I set my alarm literally 2 minutes early, to give myself a tiny buffer of time in the morning. My goal was to do the Randall Loop plus 1 x Ryan Avenue. I was able to get around decently on this Friday morning. I did 6.60 miles with, the fabulous 40, I did 1 x weighted bench presses, and 2 x BP bench presses. I was alert then, but am groggy now. The air was crisp and clear. Hope that you have a blessed day!

Two Loops and 4 trips up Woodlot Hill
I was tired and a bit slower this morning, but I was thankful for quiet roads in the early morning. I know that the Lord uses even the mundane, when we leave room for Him in our endeavors. I am in a quiet transition where I am no longer in physical therapy. So now I need to to keep up the leg work without relying on my PT sessions. I did 6.35 miles, the fabulous 40, and 2 x curls/presses with maximum reps. I try to work within my time frame and not to force the issue when I am too or behind schedule. I had a nice talk with my brother, telling him that I hoped to visit Finland. This is where my great grandfather came from. Have a blessed day!

Another Day on Longwood
I have decided to do the Longwood Loop again today. Fortunately, things mostly went smoothly and I got out in good season. I did 6.32 miles, the fabulous 40 , and 3 x GP curls/presses. I had planned to blog more, but I was joined by a number of curious kindergarten students.

Earlier Start
I set my alarm accidentally 5 minutes earlier than I thought. The good news with that is that I was less rushed today on a Monday. I had checked and knew that the Patriots won their playoff game. As insignificant as that may be, it made my spirits lighter. I decided to shake things up and do the Longwood Loop on a Monday. I did 6.32 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I feel a little sluggish today. Have a very blessed day friend!

Randall on a Sunday
When I teach Sunday School I definitely feel a bit more pressure in the morning. I do enjoy my Sunday walks. It’s nice to have some daylight on my walks. Where the skies were overcast, there was little action on the streets. I was a little later than I wanted, but I still managed to get my workout in. I did 6.32 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP curls/presses with maybe 1 or 2 sets of core trainers presses and rows. Have a blessed day friends!

Just Do It
Sometimes with my workouts I just do what I want instead of waiting for things to fall in place. Usually I am pragmatic and take the opportunities that present themselves. I really wanted to do the Randall loop and 2 super sets of core trainer presses and rows and I managed to get the work in. I also did o e super set of GP curls/presses, and the fabulous 40. I managed 6.35 miles along the dark quiet streets of Ridge. I am grateful for the time to pray and listen to Christian radio as I trudged along. There is a different flow to my life this year, but it is a good flow which usually ends with bedtime around 9– oh, how I love early bedtime and mornings!

Positivity
Sometimes you wake up and just have a positive feeling about things. This was one of those mornings. The morning routine went fairly smoothly. Regardless of how smoothly things have gone, I have not managed to get that far ahead of my usual schedule. I did the figure 8 plus 1 x Ryan Avenue for 6.48 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP bench presses. I had a nice talk with my brother this morning. Usually it’s just catching up and we talk about “stuff” but it always makes you feel good. Many times it seems as if things aren’t really happening, but there is that sense of joy and that the Lord is doing something in your life. Gratitude is also a wonderful gift to have!

Longwood
I decided to do my standard Niewood, Longwood,
Dunkin Donuts loop for 6.33 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP presses and curls. I am starting early, but staying basically on regular schedule despite it. Have a blessed day friends!

It Worked Out
Today I started out well, but I had to take a number of pit stops which slowed me down. I did the figure 8 plus 1 x Ryan Avenue for 6.5 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 sets of GP bench presses. Even with the it stops I still made it to work just fine. It’s tiring and a discipline to get out early, but it is always a blessing to get out early and enjoy the streets in the quiet of the morning. God bless you my friend!

First Workout in Ridge
I woke up on time mostly excited about the normal routine once again. It is good to have a break from the usual routine, but the usual is really my preferred method. I did 2 x Woodlot with 2 extra trips up Woodlot hill for 6.32 miles, the fabulous 40, and 3 x GP curls and presses. The roads were in good shape and the streets were quiet. The deer also were out and on the move. I have PT right after school so that I need to drive directly to Rocky Point. I am looking forward to see how the Lord leads this year.

Eastport/Hope
Eastport:Friday: I headed out the morning after the storm at around 6 am to allow for enough lighting to see the potentially slippery streets. I did a basic north end , dump road, south end and downtown loop for 7.06 miles, and then 3 x GP bench presses at the Todd house. Being in Eastport on the winter streets seems so natural. I followed up with a quick trip to Kim’s and then went to Katie’s and my parents.
Hope-Saturday: I planned on sleeping in but I couldn’t sleep, so I headed out on the basic 3 mile but headed up and down Appleton Hill an out the pastor’s road, to the pigeon house on Howe Hill, and up the hill ast my parent’s house and back for 6.22 miles. I then did 3 x GP curls/presses . I’m so glad that I made this workout. 4 workouts in Maine is a true blessing.

Dec. 31 / Jan. 1 in Eastport
On the last day of 25 I did the Adams Street, In-Town Loop, and the Dump Road out and back with a couple side hills added in for 7.57 miles in clear and cold weather, with 3 x GP bench presses.
Thursday Jan 1 I went out into a snow storm and just walked around including, the dump road and Lincoln Street for 7.08 miles, and 3 x GP curls/presses. The extra day has meant extra time with my daughter Kim and her beautiful family. I am looking forward to heading out of here tomorrow although I will really miss Kim and her family. I am either around my family or I am alone in my room at the Todd house. I am missing my wife Charlotte and her companionship. With the snow falling all day I am limits where I can go. Gtg. Have a blessed evening!
