Wednesday/So Why Should’nt It Snow

I got out the door at a better time and it helped to set my mind at ease.  I knew that if I held form that I would make it back home at a decent time which is good since I forgot to put the recycleables out last night.  I felt slightly more energized today hopefully turning the corner on this mild cold. I did the figure 8 extra plus doing 8.83 in 2:00:40 for a 13:39 minute per mile pace with an average heartrate of 116 bpm with an elevation gain of 202 feet at a temp of 37 degrees with 74 percent humidity.  I noticed on Ridge Road when I put my headlamp on that there were a few flakes of snow flying in the air. Ironically, this is like 3 or 4 Wednesday’s in a row where we got snow.
Tonight after school I head to southern Maine to stay at my brother’s Lord willing. Eastport tomorrow if the Lord so wills it. God Bless! Hopefully a couple of Maine workouts— anticipating a good time. Love Maine!

Better Than I Thought

I have a touch of a cold and along with the normal fatigue I am feeling a bit tired. I got out of bed 5 minutes later than usual and from that point I felt as if I was playing a hopeless game of catch-up. I got out the door a tad late and then had to make a mid workout pit stop.  When you’re tired and behind the temptation is there to cut things short. On too of all that I know that I have to pack for Maine and that I have Bible Study tonight. I persevered and did some jogging and made it back to the house late, but salvageable.  Thankfully I stayed the course and as a result I made it to work on time. I did the figure 8 extra plus doing 8.9 miles in 1:58:33 for a 13:19 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 174 with an average heartrate of 123 bpm at a temp of 24 degrees at 80 percent humidity. Have a blessed day!

Cutting Back

Lately I have found that my speed and energy are both lagging. I find that pushing myself just to fit nine miles in the books and make it to work in time is just becoming too much. Since I am tired my pace is off which puts me behind. I’ve decided that at least Monday through Wednesday I will do the figure 8 extra plus which puts me at around 8.6 miles.  Even though it’s half a mile difference I find that the time difference is significant enough without really sacrificing the workout. I did 8.62 miles in 1:59:01 for a 13:48 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 179 feet with an average pulse of 123 bpm at a temperature of 28 degrees and 80 percent humidity.  I was excited to pick up an LL Bean visor headlamp as there are laces where the footing and lighting is poor. Looking to the Lord for His strength and direction! God Bless!

Kim’s 19th

I have been feeling the effects of a mild cold as of late.  So with the cold and the natural fatigue before a break I feel a bit off.  I am looking forward to the weekend and being able to sleep in a bit. I did the figure 8 extra lus doing 8.57 miles in 2:02:47 for a 14:19 minute per mile walking pace with an elevation gain of 151 feet with an average pulse of 114 bpm at a temp of 35 degrees and 62 percent humidity.  This was the week where I felt like cutting the workout short, but kept on going. I teach my last were of Sunday school of the month on Sunday. Kind of tired so I’m going to go. God Bless and have a terrific weekend. Lird willing I will come back with greater enthusiasm next week.

It Won’t Work if It’s Wet

I got up an hour later due to a delayed start.  It was still snowing hard out. I had a problem with snow building up in a hollow spot on the bottom of my Reebok Zig Tech shoes. I think I would wear a different shoe if we get another snow event. Due to the heavy snow and being interrupted by weather related texts my workout on my watch was stopped. The results are estimates- 9 miles in around 2 hours with an elevation gain of 360 feet with an average heartrate of 125 bpm. I went to work after a good workout and shoveling being done.! The commute was okay after I fot on the main roads. Off to the races. God Bless!

The Day After or Frolicking in The Snow

I got out later due to school being canceled last night. I got out just after 5. The snow started just as I started out the door for my workout.  The snow persisted until about mile 3. It’s at that point that I had my doubts about Jace and Kim having school canceled. At mile 6 I decided to call Kim to tell her to get ready for school. My attempt failed as did my other attempts as she was sleeping. I was doing the Ridge Road Loop as I like the quiet seclusion of this route.  Getting back to my previous thoughts. I had to change my route coming home by Raynor rather than Woodlot so as to get me back in time before Kim got on the bus. I made it back in time to get her a breakfast sandwich and a couple of waters. I did 10.2 miles in total as I went out on the road down Kastal and back. My stop watch stopped partway through so pretty much I have distance taken off my iPhone watch daily stats.
Sitting in my room now watching it snow outside. My daughter Rebekah moved out yesterday. Kind of sad. Have a blessed day!

Midnight Drama?

The not to be named conflict continues in our house. An unnamed person did their laundry in the middle of the night and another unnamed person had a major problem with it. So a bit of a middle of the night war of words precipitated.  The trials of the blended family continue. I’m praying that God will bare His fruit in my life.  Also, I am a bit tired , my stomach a tad off, and I am a bit behind today. My workout started a couple minute late with a delay in the middle doing the Randall Road Loop.  I haven’t been feeling it on the workouts, but I know it is worth it in the end. Here are the results—9.01 in 2:05:32 for a 13:56 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 164 feet with an average heartrate of 122 bpm.  Terrible news this morning— my daughter Rebekah is moving out of my house. Looking to him.

Dark Monday

I had a bit of trouble falling asleep last night. I somehow managed to put my watch on my arm in my sleep and was surprised to find my watch off it’s charger.  I had a good weekend with some beautiful hikes on the south shore. This morning I did the Scenic Hills, Niewood, Medford Loop doing 9.02 miles in 2:04:26 for a 13:47 minute pet mile walking pace with an elevation gain of 359 feet with an average heartrate of 120 bpm at a temperature of 23 degrees and 72 percent humidity. Looking
forward to see what God is going to do in my life and in the lives of my family. God Bless!

Fuming

Yesterday was a very long day with parent teacher conferences staying at work until 8. This morning I was up at my usual time doing the Randall extra plus doing 9.04 in 2:04:57 for a 13:49 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 163 feet with an average pulse of 121 bpm at a temp of 33 degrees at 71 percent humidity. Tired— Have a blessed weekend!

Just Do Don’t Think

I went through my routine today with the intent of not watching the clock or worrying about the time.  The worry just takes away from the enjoyment of the workout. I have been tirwd and a bit behind this week, but thankfully I have been able to keep up with the routine- thank you Lord! I did the Ridge Road loop doing 9.11 in 2:04:36 for a 13:40 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 218 feet with an average pulse of 123 bpm at a windy 33 degrees and 63 percent humidity. I am grateful for getting the work in this week even though I feel off.

Behinder than Me

I have felt behind and out of synch since the time change. I get up on time, but find that I am slower getting out the door for both my workout and my commute. The good thing is that it seems that other folks are more behind than me so that I arrive at work at the same time. I did the Scenic Hills, Niewood, Medford Loop doing 9.2 in 2:02:21 for a 13:33 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 357 feet with an average heartrate of 118 bpm at a temp of 30 degrees at 63 percent humidity. This was the morning when a car showed up at just the wrong time on several occasions. The wrong time means— wanting to take a wide turn instead of walkon the sidewalk, or having to walk through the pothole side of the road because a car is coming , or having to wait a minute because a mud puddle is blocking half the road and a car is coming— and on and on—the timing was just wrong on a morning where otherwise the cars were sparse. Off to meet the day. God Bless You!

Wet Snow Still Had to Go

The tale of two counties Suffolk/Nassau. Suffolk is snowy and Nassau not so much. I did my workout doing 9.2 miles in approximately 2:15 doing my workout at a 15:16 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 202 feet with an average heartrate of 116 bpm. No school in Suffolk and school in Nassau where I work. Work went ok and was allowed to leavr an hour early . Kind of tired now. Have a blessed day! God is good!

Time Change

I woke up at my usual time, but this is my first workout since the time change. I felt pretty good, but a few stomach issues put me behind schedule. I got out the door 10 minutes later than usual, so I knew that I would have to make up the difference with some running. Thankfully I made it back to the house and to work on time. I am so blessed. My daughter Rebekah turns 20 today. Tomorrow looks like a snow day— we’ll see. Here are the stats for the day— Randall Road Loop Plus Extra doing 9.24 in 1:54:36 dor a 12:23 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 187 feet with an average heartrate of 130 bpm at a temp of 26 degrees at 92 percent humidity. Have a blessed day! Possibly blogging from home tomorrow!

Familiar Paths

I decided to do the figure 8 exta plus this Friday morning. My stats ate kind off guesswork as I got water in my watch which screwed things up a bit. I took a five hour energy plus to help boost my performance on my last scheduled workout of the week. Here are my estimated stats- 8.5 miles in about 2 hours at about a 14:15 minute per mile pace. I did 3 lengthy sprints on Raynor. This week was a struggle.  I had to run some most days to boost my slow pace and make it more respectable. I feel blessed just to complete the workouts this week. I look forward to the weekend with some extra sleep. Have a blessed weekend!

Slushy Thursday

The day after a storm you’re not sure what the conditions will be like, but I found that the Roads were in decent shape and that the traffic was light do to a delayed start in school.  For me, my school was starting at it’s regular time. Speaking of which I hit the road later for work , but got here on time due to the delayed school starts throughout my part of Long Island. I did the Scenic Hills, Longwood, Medford Loop doing 9.16 in 1:59:53 for a 13:04 minute per me pace with an elevation gain of 348 feet with a resting heartrate of 122 bpm at a temperature of 33 degrees and 95 percent humidity. The streets were quiet and peaceful! Have a most blessed day!

Surprise

I got up a little earlier hoping to get out earlier to work since the weather was bad and this storm was seeming to go bust as far as snow goes. I decided on the Ridge Road Loop. I like the quiet and isolation of this loop which mainly is surrounded by trees. Just before the turnaround I noticed that my pace was woefully slow, so I started running slowly. Just after mile 5 I heard a loud noise which was a runner who runs this route frequently. We passed each other and I continued on. Just after mile 8 I got a phone call from my school announcing that school was canceled— what a surprise as my daughter and stepson each had school. Today it payed to go to school further west. Here are the stats- 9.12 miles in 2:05:13 for a 13:43 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 217 feet with an average pulse of 120 bpm at a temp of 33 degrees at 99 percent humidity. Enjoying the quiet and slow pace. God Bless!

Calm Before The Storm

Today the conditions were bright and beautiful. Even though it was dark at least the stars were out. I was a little groggy upon waking up, but the coffee seemed to be working it’s magic as I shuffled along route 25 towards Wading River Hollow Road. I did the Scenic Hills, Niewood, Medford Loop doing 9.04 in 2:00:25 for a 13:19 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 337 feet with an average heartrate of 120 bpm at a temperature of 29 degrees and 90 percent humidity. A winter storm warning is in effect for tonight and tomorrow. Should be a snowy workout in the morning and a possible snow day. Pray that God blesses you richly!

A Different Approach

I decided to start with a different route to start the week. I ended up doing the Medford/Randall/Woodlot Loop. This loop is very quiet and varied so the time passed fairly quickly. I will admit that I have not been “feeling “ the workouts lately.  It might be cliche, but one day at a time has been my approach. Right now I am just feeling blessed to have the ability to do the work. In many ways I just feel alone in my opinions. Things bother me that I just don’t know who to talk to. In the blended family it just seems that priorities and interest are always in conflict. There is no “We’re in this together “ sort of mentality. The best that seems to occur is a dutiful half-hearted obligation to do some things for others interests and then to quickly move on to your own thing half-annoyed that you have to do play this blended family game. God I know you can help! Here are the stats— 9.18 miles in 2:00: 58 for a 13:10 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 205 feet with an average heartrate of 127 bpm at a temperature of 33 degrees at 75 percent humidity. I passed a man walking to work on the end of Woodlot. Don’t usually see anyone there. Possibly a storm on Wednesday— exciting! God Bless!

Extreme Conditions

I woke up a bit earlier knowing that the forecast was for heavy rain. I decided to venture out and if things became too adverse, I would shorten the workout.  I decided to do the Scenic Hills, Niewood, Medford Loop since usually this route with the exception of Wading River Hillow Road floods the least. I will say that the rain is exceeded what I anticipated.  I was fine heading south with the wind to  my back.  I don’t mind being wet, I just don’t eant to be cold and wet. I found it important to avoid deep mud puddles. Too much water and nowhere to put it. My feet quickly became drenched. When I started to head north the wind quickly made me feel cold and miserable. At numerous junctures I found myself planning alternative shorter route. I ended up running to heat my body which had started to chill. As fate would have it , I ended up finishing the entire route. Here are my final estimated(but very accurate) stats - 9.05 miles in 1:57 doing about a 12:55 minute per mile pace with an estimated elevation gain of 3:40 with an average heartrate of 118 bpm. Note-  I almost got stuck in a huge mud puddle in the school parking lot. Have a blessed day!

More Sleep More Performance

I woke up at my usual time , but thanks to a nature call got out of bed immediately.  I got around faster it seemed , but still got out the door at the same time.  I decided to do the Randall Road Loop plus extra doing 9.31 in 2:03:20 for a 13:14 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 162 feet with an average heartrate of 117 bpm at a temperature of 44 degrees and 72 percent humidity. I enjoy the solitude of the routes north of Middle Country.  My workouts provide a great opportunities to pray. Congratulations to my friends Andy and Lisa Seeley on adopting their daughter Andi.  God Bless!
