Friday was a good day. I woke up refreshed and smoothly transitioned into a good start time which meant a more relaxed workout. I did the Woodlot/Ridge/Randall Loop with a couple up and backs on Ryan Ave.. I did 8.52 miles in 2:03:15 for a 14:27 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 212 feet with an average pulse of 114 bpm at a breezy 30 degrees and 46 percent humidity. I got back in good season and was able to do my final 2 sets of bench presses. This morning I knew that my wife had Weight Watchers so I predetermined to go to Port Jefferson for the Greenway trail plus out and back. I listed to my favorite podcasts and internet radio on the way. I did 9.79 miles in 2:50:46 for a 17:26 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 696 feet with an average heart rate of 104 bpm at a temp of 29 degrees and 49 percent humidity. It’s a beautiful place to hike, and today there were not many folks out and about. I did a little splurge by eating a sausage egg and cheese mcmuffin and an iced caramel macchiato at McDonalds. A great start to the weekend. God bless you!

You Don’t Always Get Credit
This day was a day of progress and regress resulting in no gain. I woke up earlier, but got out the door later. I just kept getting in my own way slowing myself down. I did the summer figure 8 plus a little extra— but my watch stopped at one point and I never quite caught up. So my stats are fairly accurate guesswork based on the info that I had. I did 8.5 miles in 2 hours at. 14:08 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 200 feet at a temperature of 48 degrees and 97 percent humidity. God is good!

Feeling Better Even when Not Being Better
I got out the door earlier, but I made up for the early start with a slow pace. Thankfully, I had no other fitness work to do. I did the Medford/Randall Loop doing 8.75 in 2:11:16 for a rather senior citizen 15 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 186 feet with an average pulse of 111 bpm at a drizzly 44 degrees and 66 percent humidity. Feel blessed! Have a great day!

Not So Fast
It’s funny how you think that the pace of one day will carry into the next— today I did not experience the speed of yesterday. Thankfully I made up time on my commute to work. My weight is up, so time to ease it back down. I see the doctor in four weeks— got to stay consistent. Today I did my summer route plus a little. I did 8.68 miles in 2:07:26 for a 14:40 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 125 feet with an average heart rate of 123 bpm at a temperature of 45 degrees and 88 percent humidity. Today is the last of my long days— Lord give me strength!

Back at It
I think it’s nice when a plan comes together. Last week I tried to get in 9 miles a day while taking the weekend off from workouts. Today I pleasantly surprised myself with a not slow workout. I did the new short loop doing 8.59 miles in 2:03:33 for a 14:22 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 211 feet with an average heart rate of 118 bpm at 37 degrees and 86 percent humidity. I started out dreading the day , but by the end of the workout I was in a more positive frame of mind. Have a blessed day!

FINALLY
Some weeks you thrive, some you survive, and most are a mixture. This was the week of enduring. I thankfully had a vacation week. My wife is struggling with her father’s health struggles and her cousins personal strife. Not only is my wife concerned about her father, but at the same time she also has to fill in and do his work plus her own schedule. We are blessed to have my daughter and grandson visiting for the week(including Ryleigh the last two nights as well). I know that my wife has not had the energy for the convergence of all these circumstances so our relationship has taken a hit. This morning I did to Apple Court and back plus the short Randall Route plus out and back on Ryan Avenue. I did 9.16 miles in 2:16:41 for a 14:55 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 225 feet with an average heart rate of 112 bpm at a cool windy 21 degrees at 49 percent humidity. Off to the movies later today! God bless!

Different Route , Better Results
I decided to change the route up, as I felt like a change was needed. I did the Ridge route to Rocky Point and back. I did 9.05 miles in in 2:12:37 for a 14:39 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 203 feet with an average heart rate of 111 bpm at a temp of 28 degrees and 52 percent humidity. My stomach was off a tiny bit, but it held up. I’m glad that I got the work in. It was a beautiful morning with only a little traffic. It was a great day!

Moving A Little Better
I headed out the door in my old shoes because my new shoes(about a month now)are digging into my feet. I felt a bit more energetic even though my pace wasn’t much faster than yesterday. I did the Medford/Longwood Loop again. The good news was that I got out earlier powered by my high powered coffee. I did 9.26 miles in 2:17:02 for a 14:47 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 321 feet and an average heart rate of 118 bpm at a milder temp of 42 degrees and 70 percent humidity. I had a nice hike with my daughter Kaitland , granddaughter Ryleigh, and grandson Keon at Connetquot State Park. God is good!

Slow and Steady but no Race
I’m in a period of no speed. The workouts are a drudgery, albeit I love how I feel after. Today I did the Medford/Longwood loop again. I did 9.14 miles in 2:19:06 for a 15:12 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 347 feet with an average heart rate of 115 bpm at a temperature of 38 degrees and 72 percent humidity. I am grateful to get a little extra sleep and not to be rushed. God bless you!

Longwood on Vacation Monday
I slept in a bit and headed out the door. I decided to do the Longwood Loop. It had been a few weeks since I had done this loop. I have been tired and my pace had been slow— vacation has afforded me the time to do this loop. Here are the stats— 9.12 mules in 2:15:57 for a 14:54 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 323 feet and an average pulse of 117 bpm at a temp of 28 degrees and 93 percent humidity. It’s great having my daughter Kaitland and grandson Keon. We had a nice trip to Montauk. Keon loved climbing on the rocks. Have a blessed night!

Early Speed Work
I have a full day. I picked up a coworker in Miller Place on my way to work. This meant that I had to get an early start. I also decided to do my 9 x .3 mile repeats with warm-up and cool down. I know that I was slow, but truthfully it was a victory just to get the 9 repeats finished running. My legs felt tired I think from the hex bar deadlifts. The thing I like about this workout is that it is much shorter in length of time making my post workout routine much less hurried. I did 7.33 miles in 1:40:02 for a 13:38 average pace per mile with an elevation gain of 321 feet and an average heart rate of 126 bpm. I just relaxed and focused on completing the workout. I am on the ferry now heading for Hope, Maine. Looking forward to seeing my parents, daughter Kaitland, and grandson Keon. God bless you!

Fighting through Fatigue
My Monday workout set me back for sure. When I just walk my pace is over 15 minute miles. This has forced me to do regular intermittent jogging to keep my pace below 15’s. I am so looking forward to the weekend. The weather today was rainy and cool. When your tired the rain is just another drain. Cars that pull out at in opportune times altering your route provide annoyance. So I’m tired and ready for vacation. When you force your workouts to fit in when you are tired it can be stressful— however, I am thankful that the work is getting done in spite of “not feeling it”. Today I did my summer figure 8 plus a bit. Here is the summary— 8.62 miles in 2:05:02 for a 14:30 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 253 feet with an average heart rate of 119 bpm at a temp of 37 degrees and 96 percent humidity. Tomorrow I need to get out early to pick up a coworker in Miller Place. God Bless!

Tuesday/Wednesday
I did the same route that I did last Friday the Woodlot/Randall with an extra Ryan Street. Tuesday I was tired and wet as I slushed through another rainy morning doing 8.47 miles(I think) in 2:05 ish . My watch for whatever reason recorded two workouts and shut my music down. The pace was a 14:51 ish per mile. Today I did the same route doing 8.43 miles in 2:02:59 for a 14:35 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 176 feet with an average pulse of 117 bpm at a temp of 38 degrees and 56 percent humidity. The theme is fatigue, but thank God I’m getting through the fatigue. Thank you Jesus!

Trail Work in Little Elm Texas
I got up later and had my brother in law drop me off at a local trail after dropping his children off for school. It took me nearly half an hour to find the trail. Thankfully a local was able to steer me to the trail. I encountered very few people on this trail. Most of them were dressed as if attending a dog sled race even though the temp was only in the 40’s. It was a dark overcast morning. The terrain was flat. Most of the trail was hard clay. I took a few pics to commemorate the occasion and then tried to get as far down the trail that I could manage because of my time wasted trying to find the trail. I actually made it within a quarter of a mile. Here are the stats— 10.02 miles in 2:09:24 with an elevation gain of 109 feet at an average pace of 12:54 minutes per mile with an average heart rate of 136 bpm at a temp of 44 degrees and 72 percent humidity. Char and Jon were waiting for me at the rest area. It’s always an adventure working out in different places. Thankfully there is a trend in providing trails to work out off the main roads. I’m blogging this at Love Air field in Dallas sitting next to Char heading to La Guardia airport in Queens, NY. Have a blessed day! Legs feeling a little spent.

Early Start
I set my alarm early as I had to meet up with my coworker Mr. Cesar to travel to work. Char is picking me up from work to go to the airport and then on to Dallas. I did the Woodlot Randall short loop with an extra Ryan Avenue. It was another drizzly day here on Long Island. I did 8.53 miles in 1:59:36 for a 14:01 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 383 feet with an average heart rate of 118 bpm at a temple of 39 degrees with 93 percent humidity. Lord willing hope to get in a workout in Texas. God be praised!

Tired but Good
I did approximately 8.8 miles. My watch and phone were playing up. Which is disappointing as I did a lot of jogging to keep my time respectable. My music was also acting up. I’m glad to get work in, just annoyed. Off to Dallas tomorrow Lord willing. God bless!

Tuesday/Wednesday— Satisfied
I am a bit tired, but thankfully I have been able to put together some good workouts even when I feel like laying in bed. Yesterday I did the 3 x Woodlot loop— cutting across the trail on the third loop plus one hill doing 8.76 miles in 2:03:46 for a 14:07 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 206 feet and an average heart rate of 121 bpm at a temp of 36 degrees and 96 percent humidity. Today I did the summer loop figure 8 plus Ryan Avenue out and back doing 8.73 miles in 2:03:34 for a 14:09 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 172 feet with an average heart rate of 123 bpm at a temp of 37 degrees and 82 percent humidity. I’m grateful! Thank you Lord!

Grace Under Fire
There have been a lot of blessings eight along with many trials. It’s like I see God working in one way, and then in other places I seem beaten by the circumstances— perplexed by the situation that seemingly doesn’t get better. It’s my place to be faithful and to trust— even when I feel like I’m losing and a loser. Today despite my best efforts I struggled through another workout, although I feel blessed at the end to be able to complete it. I did out and back to the trailer on Raynor and then the Woodlot/Randall Loop doing 8.74 in 2:08:47 for a 14:44 minute per mile pace with an elevation gain of 165 feet with an average heart rate of 117 bpm at a temp of 37 degrees and 90 percent humidity. Mondays have been a slow day. Thankfully in two weeks we will be off from school. God is good!
