I decided to do hill repeats as the roads were icy here in Eastport, Maine. I did 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery. This is where the hill repeat concept began for me here in Eastport with my friend Andy. We would brave the elements with hot tea and slices. The weather was often snowy and cold, but we made it out there anyway. Those days are long in the past, but they are good memories and thankfully I'm able to keep the workout going. Again. I'm blessed to be here in these beautiful surroundings again with my beautiful daughters. God Bless! Oh , yeah-- 6.8 miles:)

Early Run in the dark at Hope!
I got out at 4:50 to do my standard 8.1 mile workout in Hope. The roads were pitch black with no street lamps. Luckily there was nobody on the streets so that I could run right in the middle of the street. The last three miles I had the pre-Dawn sun making the roads more visible. Lord willing I will be enjoying my old loops here in Eastport. I'm so blessed!

Tuesday, Last Run in Ridge
I got out later at 6:20 am. I did my usual of 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool- down with equal recovery for 6.5 miles. Nice and mild at 57 degrees. Heading out at 12:30 for a trip to my parents in Hope, Maine. Char isn't feeling well, which kind of makes me feel bad. With the storm coming I have to leave early. Have a blessed day!
Enjoying a Slower Pace
I got in at just past 9 last night with Katie my second oldest daughter. I was tired and feeling a bit under the weather last night. Thankfully, I was tired but not feeling sick. I got out at around 7:45 am. I enjoyed running past streams, tall trees, lakes , and meadows. I even found the trip up the steep hills pleasant enough. I did 8.1 miles. I am so blessed !

Wet and Rainy Doesn't Dampen the Spirit
Even though I have starts vacation I have decided to start my workouts at the same time. I just like the early morning hour for workouts. I did 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with equal recovery and warm-up and cool-down-- the usual for now. It was raining and 57 degrees, but a workout was still the plan. Looks like a few days in Maine is in the plans at my parents. Looking forward to see what God has in store. God Bless!

Nice Friday Finish
I got out of bed with the luxury of not having to get out the door quite so early. Katie and Jace could sleep in , because my wife was taking them to school. It was 28 degrees and clear. Nobody is out in this cold weather, so the roads are all mine. I did see my friend Arlem run by yesterday. I did 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for a total of 5.6 miles. I am pleased with the training this week and I am feeling stronger. I am looking forward to the weekend. I just can't shake the sad feeling I get when I think of Kaitland moving back to Eastport. Have a blessed day.

Feeling Down
It was 39 degrees and cloudy. I did 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool- down with equal recovery. My second oldest daughter wants to move back with her mother in Maine. This is a hard pill to swallow and makes me feel like a failure as a father. All I ever wanted is for my girls to be living for The Lord and for my girls and I to be together enjoying each other's company. Divorce has hurt our family. I look to you Lord!

Feeling Like Winter
Hey, it's December so the fact that it was 23 degrees out this mornin g should come as no surprise . I did 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery for 5.6 miles. I felt decent, but stayed with the theme of taking it a bit easier. The stresses of life have taken it's toll with me feeling tired and fatigued. The easier load has served me well. Have a blessed day. Oh yeah, the cold weather means that nobody seems to be moving on foot.

Cool and Clear
The rain and clouds have blown away by the breeze that now is bringing in cold but clear skies. I did 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery. The plan to shorten things up is agreeing with me. More than anything, it gives me a little more time to get ready in the morning. I had gotten run-down with a cough and tired. The extra day off last week with the lighter load this week is turning things around. I had been feeling down and defeated, but I know now that with Christ's help I can do all things. Have a blessed day!

Nice and Early Run on Randall
I woke up with th goal of doing a longer run. I decided upon running the Randall loop . It was breezy at 44 degrees. I am writing this blog in Lancaster , Pa. It is damp outside with a wet snow. We passed an Amish buggy and an Amish farmer with a team of horses. I did 9.02 miles at a decent pace. I had a bit of trouble in several places seeing the road so I had to slow my pace ever so slightly. Looking forward to see what The Lord has in store for me and my family!

Tues. & Wed.
I did 8 x.3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery on both days. Tuesday's workout was at 9 am and today was at 4:32 am. I have cut down on the intensity as I have felt a bit tired. I am blessed to have the health and time to work-out. God is so good. I do prefer the quiet streets in the early morning as opposed to the hustle and bustle of e day.

Morning Pains End in Gain
I woke up just before 3 with stomach pains. They just wouldn't go away, so I got up just before 4. By 4:25 I was out the door into the 36 degree air. I did 8 x .3 mile hill repeats with warm-up and cool-down with equal recovery. I saw the man walking his dog on rep six. He told me that he was being lazy today. I was grateful for feeling good during the workout. A trying day brings me to this quiet time of reflection. School off with Veteran's Day tomorrow. God is so good!

Fresh Start to he Day
I got out and it was a drizzly 48 degrees. I did an extra warm-up for a total of 7.2 miles -- main workout of 8 x .3 mile hill repeats. I felt drops in the middle of the run. On rep 6 I saw the man walking the dog. I definitely feel better at the end of the week than at the beginning. Have a blessed weekend.

Back on Randall
I took advantage of the kids not having school by doing one of my old routes-- The Randall Route for 9.34 miles. I actually did one of my better times even though I had to stop and give directions. It was nice to see the fall foliage as I meandered along the streets of Ridgeh Chuck. I saw Chuck and later finished up with Chuck. Nice start to this Election Day and the P Conference at Hofstra. Have a blessed day!

Finally Some Light
I started out the workout of hill repeats with the usual darkness. It was 39 degrees as I did my usual 8 x .3 mile hill repeat workouts with warm-up and cool- down with equal recovery for a total of 6.5 miles. I had a weekend of feeling a bit under the weather with a bit of congestion, but I felt better today. Nice to have the light coming through as I headed for home. I saw a buck running across the road on rep 3 . The gentleman walking the dog showed up on rep 6. Workshop day tomorrow-- God is so good!
