I was surprised when I woke up to see the temp at 20 degrees with a wind chill in the single numbers. I'm still walking -- after briefly testing it out running. I think I will stick with the walking for two more weeks. Pain free consistency is better than painfully forcing the issue. I did the figure eight plus most of Apple Court(turning at Gingham). I felt good and enjoyed the peace of the morning on this nice quiet loop-- all totaled 7.28 miles. I'm just feeling blessed to be back on the streets. I can walk and do squats without pain. Okay God richly bless you today!

Back Home
I got out the door at 4:28 at 28 degrees. Snow is on the way later today! I did the figure 8 plus part of Apple Court for 7.38 miles. The streets were quiet as I glided along. I heard an owl and saw several deer. No dodging ice, snow, and four wheel drive vehicle in the old today-- but the truth is, I sure do miss that place-- especially my daughters and grandson. I really enjoyed getting three workouts in Maine in this week. God is so good!

Blessed and Cold in a Machias , Maine
I was blessed to be there at Downeast Community Hospital when my grandson Keon was born. My daughter Bekah spent the night with me at the Machias Motor Inn. I woke up after an iffy night's sleep. I checked, the temp was 8 with a wind hill below zero-- but I decided that it would feel good to stretch my legs on the Marshfield loop. The footing was a mixed of bare, icy , and crusty snow. For the most part I maintained a decent pace while dodging the questionable footing and all the commuters. I saw a bunch of deer crossing a road that I added onto the loop off from the upper part of the loop. It was a hilly yet scenic ascension . I managed to make it back unscathed to the Motor in. The loop plus amounted to 7.06 miles according to MapMyWalk. So blessed!

Loop in a Blizzard
I was staying at the Margaretta Motel in Machias and I decided to venture out into the snowy blowing conditions. I did the race loop plus the trip to the motel and extra distance in town for 7.29 miles. One step in front of another while dodging four wheel drive joy riders and I finished the loop. One fall which fortunately ended up being harmless. This seemed on the verge of foolish , but after being cooped up I decided (maybe foolishly) to get the work in. So blessed have a great day!

Back at it!-- Monday and Tuesday
I started my program back up doing only walking. My goal is consistent injury free training. Monday saw me doing 6.47 miles on the figure 8 Loop. It felt good to get out there without pain. I was not sure how it would go, but fortunately it went well. I will stick with walking until I feel confident running. I do not want to aggravate anything and reverse the positive direction that I have been heading in thankfully. Tuesday I worked out in West Buxton and did 6.07 miles. Here in Maine it is all snow. The roads were dark as I glided a along the street along the River. This was a fly by visit. Tomorrow I hope to get the work in in yet another town. Hopefully Katie has her baby soon here in Machias. Have a blessed day!

Another Week
After a week off , I have determined that another week is in order for rest. On the positive, the calf, the hamstring, and the ankle are all doing better. The upper calf and outer right knee are improving ,but are not ready for any type of working out at this point. Me attempting to walk in the slush last week was foolhardy and set me back. I am gratefully that I can strength train. I've added sit-ups in the morning to give me something to do that does not aggravate my injuries.
I am hopefully that with another week off that I should be able to start walking next week. Then as time progresses I can add some running to the walking-- and as time progresses-- I should be able to get back to the usual. Patience, progression, rest, and time with help from The Lord should get me back on track to my usual training. I've been blessed to have a good period of injury free training . I'm so grateful for strength and health. Have a blessed day!

Time for Some Time Off
I tried walking after a weekend of icing. I had a bad feeling about trying as the roads were horrible and soupy. One misstep and the soreness in my right leg would start. My right upper calf, hamstring, outer knee, and ankle are all not up to par. I tried 3.1, which looking back actually set me back. Everything is back to not super. The plan is to take a week off from walking / running doing just my strength work. I will try doing sit-ups in the morning to replace my running. Will utilize this time more for prayer. Will mainly just try to get healthy. Will then try walking next Monday-- Lord willing. God has a way of working all things to His will, so I will try to not be anxious and just feel better.have a blessed week. I will try blogging again next Monday. God Bless!
